holy shit suga, that's a giant mass of nug! was that one pollenated with anything?

no pollination of this one - it is a sativa pheno of the oregon90 x burmese pure that is going 80 days - way too long for my tastes. I did however pollinate a clone that I have going right now (front right on the full cab picture) of the indica pheno of this cross with some more burmese pure pollen and I will be making some available (hint hint) when they're done.

Yea,coming from a 1000 watt grower that post made little sense,a 400 is standard and if you've a clue you can flower very nicely with a 400.Thats the starting point for commercial growers and the ultimate for growers of their own stash. You can flower several more plants with a 1K lamp and a good hood like a vertizontal but the erb isnt going to be substantially different than flowered correctly under 400s.I started with them, made my own from supply house materials,I'll always have a soft spot for 400s lol

lmao @ cocogrow :biglaugh:

listen kid, if you aren't even remotely educated on the subject, keep your mouth shut. there are many obvious reasons to choose a 400, some research around these boards might enlighten you.

suga, looks good man you know your shit. your cabs are always sure to impress  hopefully there's more indica speed to your next batch. you've got me very curious about the burmese. the fighting buddha has 2 distinct flavor influences, fruity and piney. i thought the pine came from the burmese, but you've noted that yours is grapefruit. am i backwards or did chimera have a piney burmese female? i think i'll shoot him a pm while im at it.......

niel that bitch is hot! what is she? healthy to say the least :D

hmm.. didn't know fighting budha had burmese in it. Of the 10 pack of burmese pure I grew out over the past two years I got 2 males which I used for breeding 3 females that I finished and each different and all good (and 4 plants that I managed to kill during childhood plus one seed crushed in the mail) - of the females first was piney and spicy second was lower odor and slightly fruity - the one I have going now - smells like grapefruit - very yummy - I won't trade in rumors but the burmese has been around vancouver island for many many years - VISC also sold them - there seem to be too phenos if you will, one more sativa in appearance that is kinda fruity in a citrus way and then one more indica in appearance that has a piney fuely flavor - and some variation in between. All have a distinct burmese smell to them in flower that is exotic unique and nice. MOD did a grow out of 100 seeds that is documented here and at RMS that was real nice.

here's that burmese pure that smells like grapefruit at 7 weeks of 9

oh and this trainwreck from clone I just chopped the other day -

this 400 is keeping me soo busy with harvesting that I had to turn my old 150 cab into a dedicated drying cabinet for now :)

Okay, I have a question for the collective wisdom of the 400 watt club.

Or maybe I'm just looking to see a really good loud fight. We'll see.

Anyway, my 400-watt bulb is coming up on 2 years old, and I figure it's about time to replace it.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't just go down to Home Depot and pay $20 for a regular HPS bulb? And if I shouldn't do that, exactly what would y'all recommend?

Duppy, my man, you've got to replace that bulb stat! I'm not going to quote numbers as you can find the charts and numbers in many places but the actual lumen output of your bulb, the energy the plants use, will be pretty much gone at this point. I didn't believe this years ago and did some comparison grows side by side with old bulbs and new bulbs and the difference is staggering. Replace it every 6 months at least, I do mine every 3-4 now.
As far at which bulb, go with the cheap one. The expensive ones are more full spectrum which help a bit but not as much in my opinion. Cheap hps are all the same, they are simply hps instead of wider spectrum bulbs. The 400w pure sodium in my opinion is the best bulb there is, I like it better than 1000w halide or sodium because I notice a large resin increase with the deep red spectrum. Granted, I run 2 400's (sorry guys, can I still be in the 400w club?) and I have a 400w halide that my plants are under for the first 4 weeks of flower and then they move over to the 400w sodium for the last 4 weeks. Perfect combo. I use cheap ass bulbs and with this setup I am now pulling 8-10 oz a month. When the plants move from the halide to the sodium, the spot under the halide gets filled with the ones I have been vegging under fluoros in the cab above. Once a month, half the room comes down and gets replaced. With some minor tweaks in my feeding schedule, I should hit about 12 which works out to 1.5 lb every 8 weeks off of 2 400w with cheap bulbs

bc, legion, looking tasty!

suga, interesting. i hope to hear back from chimera too maybe he can lend some insight as well. the pine flavor expressed in the fighting buddha is very strong, kickass. how does the indica pheno of your cross yield IYO?

the wreck looks tantalizing buddy, 400 pumpin it out, holla! :rasta:

Hello All, just starting out with my first grow. Have assembled a tub system. I think I just have to build bigger grow.

Looking for opinions. Getting ready to buy a 400watt HPS light. Anyone have gripes or good things to say about one brand or another.

So Far I have been told to buy a Hortilux bulb over standard issue
HydroFarm is good but little higher than some others.
Sun Systems ballast not as good as hydrofarm-speaking of ballast. What has been experiences with the digital models?
I noticed a Pulsar Mini 400watt HPS looks kinda small but all in one unit. cheap$ Any thoughts? I hate to buy something then wish I got something else. :badday:

Thanks Much In advance for any help! :1help:

one of my 400s was $99, and one was $130, both work great. look on ebay, i forget the name, but you will recognize it by the price! ;)

jewwells - I recommend htgsupply for a 400 that will not set you back too much money. I got one a complete setup with batwing reflector for $119, all new gear. Stay away from inside sun as there have been many complaints. HTGsupply was very good with customer service too.

BCGrown: Thanks, man. That is what I was hoping to hear.

The good thing about buying cheaper bulbs is that it is no big deal to replace them that often.

I'm on my way to the store.
