400/250

When I double pot I cut the bottom off completely for the 2 gallon pot, and place it in the 3-4 gallon pot. No hoping they will grow down, they do grow down and take up most of the bottom pot when finished. I will feed in the top pot mostly, but if the bottom needs extra it gets it.

You guys know that light is only one part of the puzzle to making an awesome grow, but it is a big part, and thats what i wanted to show you by letting you see what the potential is when you use bigger lights. I can only grow big during the winter because of the heat in my area, but I do go for it big time and it lasts the year for me and friends.

Heat with the bigger lights is an issue so I keep all heat sources out of the grow room except the bulb. Room temps for me with 1k air cooled lights are between 70-78 lights on and 62-68 lights out.

Bottom line is grow with the biggest light you can, and dial in you grow method and you will be impressed with the results.

well, this thread is not very accurate imho. I have grown one plant (serious AK47), vegged 1 month, under a 250hps, and yeilded 3.5oz. So the estimates that were previously given are IMHO very inaccurate.

I have the exact same setup going right now (only i used Hydroton instead of rockwool; the rw gave me problems) and im expecting at least 4.5oz, probably more.

Its all about training an even canopy.

Im sure my 250 does not penetrate as well as a 400 would. And I do trim out the lower bud sites, so im sure I would yield more with the 400 and not trimming as much, but assigning actual numbers would be a guess at best.

A 400w would be able to provide a larger footprint of useable light than a 250 (read: 400w = 4'x4'; 250 = 2.5'x2.5'; or something similar) but the original poster asks all things equal.

cabinet is 2' x 2'

You are definatley right. When growing with 250 watt lights, its all about training the canopy to get better yields because the penetration is so poor. AK47 has given me excellant yields also, and 4.5 oz's from 1 plant with that small of light would be an great job.

hydro = 2 oz plus per plant without more then 2 weeks veg. under a 400...if you dont achieve this it is your growing conditions or your strain...not trying to be sarcastic...im by far not a master grower but i do know soil is slower

No, I meant I took dre86's comment as sarcasm.

Speaking hydroponically (heh) 2oz/plant seems easily reachable which is why I thought he was being sarcastic. I've never grown in soil, so he could have been serious... but I don't know that since I don't know how much slower soil is, yet.
