if you want to clean mass amounts of hydroton get this

remember to use panda film on top to prevent algea you should be super clean with it even your res. After harvest let don't flood for 3 days to let rw dry then you pluck the rw from the mat THEN after that you can roll up the mat and throw away and lay another mat on top, because you use the panda your tray should stay clean so no need to scrub after.

what the hell is that thing a dirty cloths basket?...hahaha

3 days? man........ why so long thats 3 days i can be closer to flowering :dueling: i seen how you do yours i was thinking about covering the full table any reason you dont do that? i know its kind of a pain but is there any other reason?

i never done it before, and algea doesn't bother me as much, i was going to do it to one harvest like 4 trays and see how that goes if its easy i'll go with it.

With the cocotek mats you can flush within 30 days, because at first the glue or someshit from the cocotek mats gets into your res but it won't be as dirty it will settle down and you'll have a clear res. The RW isn't that bad actually after a good soak from beginning then going through veg your rw should be stable enough around. I yield around 1.5 everytime but everytime i flush at 30 days into flower and 2 wks after that my yield jumps.

I run straight hydroton and I plant about every 5.5 inches. Thats the size of the pots I use to help me lay it all out.

I have 4x11 tables and they arent that hard to clean out. When I harvest, I pull the plant out some and cut it at the base. I then leave the rootball on top of the bed to dry. When I am done with a harvest, I pull all the hydroton out and into garbage cans. I take the rootballs, and shake them off and get all the hydroton out. Then I vaccum the table and clean the rez. Lately as I put the hydron back in the table I vaccum it with a net pot over the hose. Works great. I put down a 2" layer of hydroton, put my clones in, then fill it back up.

I had to clean the hydroton when I used pots so I dont see the difference.

I am doing SOG and as my clones dont get alot of veg time, I have not had massive rootballs.

i gonna use a OR6500 witch is more then likely bigger then anyone else uses but i bought one for my reef tank and it's to big for it i had to down size so i have it laying around it should fill my table in 1-2 min's i think i might have to have 4 1" overflow drains to keep up with it i know the ppl that gave me the table used a 500gph pump at first and it took the 15 min's flood time just to fill the thing up :bashhead: they had to move up to 2 x 500 and still waited 6-7 min's most pumps ratings are at 0 head so make sure you add that in thats where they went wrong the OR6500 is 1650 GPH @ 3 foot head :rasta:

I have a tee on my pump with an inline valve. It pumps water into the tray as well into the second rez that is daisy chained. That way I dont get water shooting out of the fitting. Too much pressure and it starts pushing my hydroton around near the fittings. Also when I need to mix nutes, I just close the valve and it recirculates the water.

So if the pump is too strong, put a tee on it. If you dont, and try to stop it, it can strain the pump I have been told

i was going to tee it to fill from both side's of the table if that dont work then i can all ways run a 3rd line back to the rez with a valve... thx for the advise :)

hey guys, im checking back with you to see your update. I've finally tried it and its not soo bad. The table cover can be used again because it doesn't get dirty and not only that it gives you a template of how plants should be arange.

How i did mines was first i layed panda on a clean floor str8 i put my table down facing down then i trace the outside to get my layout. I then drill like a sheetrock screw at each corner of the table(the part where theres like a bump for u to put the frame in). Now with the panda cover i use gorilla tape at each corner and put a small slit at 1 corner with my utility knife kinda like how u button up on a shirt. Then i pull it st8 at another corner and then i do that with all 4 corners and i have a perfect cover.

The trays have those spacing where i put markings on the panda cover so i know where the drainage are so that i can position my plant. When i place my plant i just do a small X again with a sharp utlity knife and viola a covered table tweaked out with cocotek mats, NO ALGEA! I am guessing cleanup would be ultra breeze just unbutton the corners of the tray then take out the old coco mat rinse a bit and add a new mat.

I'll post some photos soon.
