I think Ive gotten about 6 oz trimmed and I think theres another 3 to go. That was enough to get her through the door. Hope to finish by the end of the day. Had to take a day away from her to get 1 of my testers trimmed.
So - all the gear that P has been buying/trading isn't matching up. Different plug configurations, doesn't work on 220, etc. We're moving backwards because someone doesn't think things through.
Now hes buying an Autopilot controller box. Now I have to reconfigure, drill, feed, patch... This is starting to not be fun anymore
As some of you may remember, this NWT was fed 1/2ish strength nutes (no powders). Well... I bring up the unchopped portion of the plant, hes says WOW... Its going to be so much better when you get everything right. !?! I said look at this shit. This might end up being 3/4 lid - and youre still not happy!? 'Cause if youre not, Im out! You can get Mr. HT, Mr. You have to do this/that, Mr. I have 35 books on cultivation... mister, Id like to see if you can pull 10-12 z out of a 4 gal pot of dirt. Fuck you! My middle finger was that exclamation point.
Show of yeas and nays - Would you bitch about getting that much weed in those parameters? Lurkers - Id appreciate it if you would chime in too. Here, visitor msg or pm - let me know.
Been lurking, paying what attention my ADHD affords me to pay..
But your two consecutive posts are a bit telling maybe?
"So - all the gear that P has been buying/trading isn't matching up. Different plug configurations, doesn't work on 220, etc. We're moving backwards because someone doesn't think things through."
and
"Its going to be so much better when you get everything right."
Tell him you'll focus on the software (plants) while he focus on the hardware (gear). Let him know that by the time he gets his own ducks in a row, you might be able to grow another ounce.
Hanger looks good - nice thick meaty chunky buds! Nothin' to sneeze at.
(Back to your partner's sourpuss - is this just a headstash mission? Are we paying bills? Just trying to understand the pressure here. Wondering if maybe homeslice should sit back and enjoy the ride?)
Edit: I'm also a bit leery of guys with a serious collection of books with that attitude to boot. Is he a book-read know-nothin' knowitall? What kind of experience does he have? Maybe he should be at the controls if he's so got damned good?
When he said "..when you get everything right," did you ask him "What does that mean?" What are you getting wrong, per the partner? What needs to be better (besides "we need more budz, brah")?
yea partnerships are a difficult thing do dial in much more then dialing in plants lol. Like Silver said how much exp does this guy have to be telling you what's wrong and what's not, don't worry about him your doing great..maybe think about going solo ,I had to and im so glad I did it's hard to keep things on track when theres a miscommunication between partners,,,, All in all looking good wild as always.
The biggest problem is that Mr. All-that-shit isn't even my partner. Its some other dude that used grow. Had P talked into buying that Autopilot, P almost ordered it - until I pointed out that it was a glorified timer. He was looking for a CO2 monitor and Mr said get this one. At least that was caught in time.
Silver, I know you and I and a couple of other guys, consider 1 oz/1 gal of dirt as an acceptable yield. He has these mis-rememberings of his last partner pulling 5-6 oz plants every time. In reality that only happened a few times. I know, I helped trim and was there for the weigh ins a few days later. Those plants were in 3 gal pots and usually came in under a qp.
Now... Ive been trying to minimize pot size while keeping yield in the acceptable zone. Thus far, Ive been staying well above that. If Im averaging 2 1/2 oz per 1.5 gal dirt, that puts me at 5 oz/3 gal. - the level hed like to see. But, because its 5 oz/2 plants and not 5 oz/plant, he sees it as half the yield. I cant make him understand that per gal of dirt the yield is the same. I also point out to him that much of what was grown before came from 'proven' cuts, ie. no pheno hunting. I say why should we grow a big plant (use up our resources) on something that could turn out to be crap, sticking us with buds we don't like. We need to find whats worth growing 1st.
This is all head, no dealing. He smokes a lot. And hes had a hardon for BHO lately, so he wants a huge surplus to make it with.
Im even letting him keep all the trim. Im even trimming 2 phase - 1st, all the fans and anything without worthwhile sugar, and 2nd is all the good stuff. I keep the scissor hash and kief from dividing the buds. That gives him 2-3 x as much 'extras' than what I take for myself.
It all really comes down to 2 things - not reconciling the numbers and simple greed.
I cant just jump out and leave the guy hanging. He cant grow for himself because of physical limitations.
When I was solo, it was funnerer. I cant wait to get back there. Although, when I do, itll probably be in a cab. That's why Im trying to push smaller pots to yield.
Another problem (rant on, by the way), is he doesn't know why Im hesitant to pop some of my more promising seeds - GanjaRebel, Catnip, etc. I tell him we need the room in good working order and not changing all the time before I risk throwing away the good $ I spent on them.
I know patience plays a roll too. He spends 4 months just waiting for each plant.
Another thing that pisses me off - "You don't spend much time working with the plants." He doesn't see all the work I put in prior to flowering. I try to do all the pruning and training in veg so that I don't have to work them hard throughout flower. You know, keep the stress in veg and mostly let em be when theyre doing their thing - a lil training/defo to keep the plants open. Then theres the hours of trimming, monitoring the drying stage, dividing the yield, etc.
That Mr guy said to P that I seemed to be against changes. What fucking business is it of yours anyway? What Im doing is playing devils advocate. P sees it as more light = more bud. I see it as yes, if temps stay the same - but they wont - we'll need more air exchange (esp. in summer) and likely better circulation. Leaf transpiration increases leading to more humidity. More humidity and denser buds leads to higher chances for mold, rot, pm. Propane burner for CO2 increases heat again - again more air. Warmer air holds more moisture - again higher humidity. So just when are you getting the dehuey you said youd get last year?
Its like Ive got a pocket full of screws and a hammer to drive them.
Rant off.
I feel a bit better - let out some frustration and a locomotives worth of steam.
Please, if anyone thinks Im way off base here, speak up. Im not looking to have my ego massaged. I want to know your take on this.
Seems the trouble is more than reconciling numbers - more the expectation than anything. I think you nailed it in that the real problem is this douchnozzle who's in P's ear.
I think about all you can do is try to get him to understand the situation - and that for all of the reasons you mentioned, while you'd like to exceed his expectations (realistic or not), you can't do that until you've overcome the limitations (unproven varities, no luxury of having run the same variety multiple times, etc).
In fact, it's probably not at all about "convincing" him you're Right. He just needs to be educated as to the "why not Right Now," and if P can't intellectually understand that (vs. emotionally responding to what his buddy tells him YOU NEED MORE DANK BUDZ BRAH LIKE ONE TON), .. It's not really your problem anymore.. ?
If you can't up-and-leave b/c it will leave P hanging, what if [after all else fails] you just tell P, "You know what, I understand what you're telling me, and for the reasons I've explained, I can't meet your expectations at this moment. It's probably better if you just let Douchenozzle take over - you may be in better hands that way. I don't want to be the guy getting in the way of your expctations."
Hey man congrats on the big harvest, I know its not apples/apples cuz setups are all different but thats more yield/dirt than I pull. I would be happy pulling #'s you are, but some people just are never satisfied. Hopefully he does appreciate what you are doing, but maybe he could do a better job expressing it. Its human nature to always want to improve and get more but hopefully he realizes that just throwing new equipment in all the time and always trying to change things doesn't help to promote a stable environment where you can build on your success and growing techniques.
Partnerships can be tough and personally I am more of a solo person.. You have to have good communication and be on the same page for things to run smooth. Sounds like thats not the case for you guys right now!
So you have a room that is fixed in size, maybe you guys just need to sit down and hash out between the two of you what kind of equipment you really NEED in there and how much is too much and what could be beneficial? Decide/compromise on an optimal setup that both of you are happy with and then stick with that! Like silver said it sounds like his expectations aren't jiving with you or reality. Communication and managing expectations sounds like the solution, if thats not possible I know I would be going solo! Good luck man and keep up the good growing!
I didn't think I was crazy, just being driven there. He has toned down since I bitched him out. And Mr hasn't said a word since seeing that pic above and being told hes recommending gear that doesn't do what we're looking to have it do. Im not hearing 3-4 times a day about when I get it right or Mr says we need this. I do lose out on 1 thing if I jump - space. Space to hunt and check out chucks. I did make that a stipulation when we discussed all this last year. Hes now realizing its not as easy as pop beans, grow girls, choose a keeper. Enough of all this shit - no more Popeye tea kettle head.
OK... In other news...
Ill have a dry weight on NWT tomorrow with some bud shots. Been awhile so Ill have pics of MM, NWT and the final testers.
Only 6 in flower - 2 SLH x MM, 2 Beast Mode (2nd and last run for these 4 girls), 1 SLH and the last Bodacious tester. Im not putting anything else in so I don't have to construct through the tulips. To that end, P is ordering 2 1000w adjustable digis. So now if he wants to bump up the light, its as easy as turning a knob.
Tossed a couple 2+ footers in the trash so I could transplant new stuff in the plantry - more moving on. Decided not to f2 the testers and just run 1 plant again at this point. Hoping 1 of the 5 plants from the 3 new varieties will bring at least a short term keeper. That would go a long way towards keeping the peace.
Gotta get P to press the folks that still grow the WD and MOB cuts we used to have around. They say they'll bring em but never do. Heh, the the extent of my circle - a 2 way street with 1 lane roadblocked.
Thanks for the support fellers. You all are like a custom made bra for my floppy DDs.
