3KW over each 4x8 table overkill?

I might get the chance to take over a nice spot with all the equipment already there. A/C, electricity, Co2, and plumbing are all setup and have one round through them. Before it was kind of a mess and unorganized, but all I really need to do is change the layout some and give it a good cleaning. I'll be switching to 4x8 E&F SOG tables and am trying to decide whether to run 3kw per table or run more tables in a separate room with 2kw each. I already have enough lights to do the one room with 3 over each table, 1000w digital ballast in 8" Cool Suns. If you had the choice which would you do? I'm super stoked about this since I've been dying to get my hands on a large space. This one has the added bonus of the city and LEO already knowing about it Any ideas are appreciated. Also just curious I see everyone using hydroton, coco, perlite, etc on their tables, what if any is the advantage over using only rockwool? All ideas are appreciated. Thnx guys!

stoney has a good thread too. he uses 2 600's on a light mover and has great results. i would think 2 1k's would be enough

2 1000's.. or 3 600's stationary or you can put a 600 between 2 1000's

I found a couple other threads and it seems like most people think 3 1kw over a 4x8 is overkill. I think only 6 tables will fit in the room and they already have 19kw in there so I was trying to use it up without starting another room till later. Instead of starting off slow and steady they tried to go huge right off the bat. With 2 months veg under all those lights they averaged .38gpw so there is a ton of room for improvement. I've been working on ideas with them for the last few nights and have been offered the job so I'm just trying to get a few more ideas before I accept and get to work. There is plenty of space for more rooms but I don't think I can get another one up and running for a few months. I've grown sog plenty of times b4 with great results but it's only been 1-2kw at a time and always in dirt so I'm just trying to cover all my bases to make things run as smoothly as possible.

Thanks for the links. I just got back from brainstorming with them. I'm going to run the 2 rows of tables right next to each other and put 2 lights over each 4x8. Then I'm going to put a row of lights down the middle so it would be 2 lights, then one in the middle, then 2 lights, then one and so on. I'm hoping they'll let me put up some pics, I haven't posted any since the overgrow days.

It's a good thing because we don't have to hide anything. They've walked the building while it was in full bloom and the city has approved it. The fire dept. and code enforcement have done inspections as well. Besides a couple exit signs not being lit everything has been signed off on. You gotta love CA.

LOL! Yeah I know what you mean. I've been like that for the last 4 years. We've had a couple high speed chases come by that scared me, along with a big party getting broken up across the street K-9's and everything, also some taggers got chased through our yard. This grow is part of a coop.
