Score 106/0 go back to the guys who gave you the most 'hope' and ask them straight out,
whats wrong with my application, feed back from the 'yes' men is good intel indeed,...

thats why they are 'yes' men...?

consider starting casual or part time, it works well with both parties

Follow-ups are important and not feeling defeated in the meantime. It sounds like a very stressful situation and that's not good for the little one. Hard to say what you should do other than try every day. Write some wanted ads too explaining the situation. Maybe someone in your area will see this post and help?

Jobs for stoners sounds like a book headline, but iIMHO,(I have lots) stoners should consider working less, for many reasons we toke, as we age it soon becomes a medical issue, as we have realized that toking in our earlier years perhaps for recreational reasons, also..prevents this or that recurring, for this reason I don't recommend any human work more than 4 hours in any 24 hour period, really if I don't have you support in this,...then you are obviously working for some else, I hope it works out for you ....lol

Do you have long hair ? A big beard ? Appearance can have influence.

Maybe its the resume, its worth it sometimes to pay to have it done
Maybe your resume is too good, make it less fancy, less of that big stuff, keep some stuff out, but if they ask what you were doing, find something.

If its not too fancy but lacking in something, some people lie on theirs, I dont personally but you wanted advice.

I dont want to advise you some conning tips but it seems conning is the way you get things in the world. They say its often who you know because most job offers are not published.

You mention all these hr experiences you have and im surprised you havent found anything because that sounded pretty good.

I dont understand how you counted the resumes, or why. I dont start my searches by couting resumes. Its like your goal was to amount as much afailure as you can, its not important how many, you shouldnt be putting your energy there. Use your energy to find a place where you might be needed and to shine.

Are you able to move for a job ? Would you be willing to ?

You talked about the agencies and i dont understand why you havent gone yet, maybe subconsciously you are working against you finding a job ?

Dont want to go freudian on you or insult you, just theorizing/trying to help :)

I heard somewhere, first you get the job you can get and then you can work on getting a job youd like better/pays better. I remembered that one, maybe cause i thought it made good sense.

Do you have some recent volunteer work on your resume, do you implicate yourself in community stuff/activities, or cultural ? Your wife is from mexico i think or sa, where im from groups of different cultures hold gatherings of sorts and they usually help people from same place.

call up some old buddies, let them know your looking for work, you never know

There are also some 1-2 year college courses that might be something to look into if you really cant find or simply to consider

Good luck

I know how it is looking for a job, i am one to stays comfortably in one place even if i could get more money somewhere else because i am well where im at, its a risk

I've never heard of any insurance company willing to accept an application from a new employee for a pregnant wife, maternity clauses usually have a 9 month (for obvious reasons) waiting period before becoming effective.

best of luck in your search.......

I can only say that my daughter graduated in Dec with a degree in business with honors and a few awards (I think she had a 3.83 GPA, summa cum laude?) but she ended up taking a $30,000/yr job and just does things like a glorified secretary, like mailing, reception, banking, etc. She doesn't really like it but she looks at it as a stepping stone till she finds something better. You might have to take something less than what you want at first. Most employers prefer hiring someone who is currently working.

Sorry I can't really be much help, only to comisserate that in some areas the job market sucks bad. I didn't read the op carefully or anything closely, so you may have already said, but if you are willing to relocate your job chances might be better.

BTW, don't worry about anwering. I don't know if I'll even check back.

Try Federal civil service, go each agencies website and have a look, they usually job listings for that agency. They pay well and have good benefits. They all drug test. Use only the .gov websites. There are alot of scammers out there. GOOD LUCK.

Best wishes to you. I am sending positive energy your way my friend. I sense that you will overcome these obstacles in your path.:)

Hey folks,

Lately I've been having no luck finding a job. My job search has been going on 6+ months now. I've literally applied for 106 jobs now; each job application has resulted in either no response or a flat out denial. Even a recommendation from a good friend who is a district manager ended up in a denial within 24 hours. I was hoping to get a little bit of advice from you all.

Please understand that I'm NOT above working any kind of job. I don't deserve $100,000/year or anything ridiculous . I know it's nothing special but I have a bachelors in business and somehow I was able to graduate with a decent GPA. I've got several years of human resource/management experience. I need enough for the bare minimum (rent, bills, food, etc); I don't need a penny more.

About 4 weeks ago or so we found out that my wife is pregnant. Right now she's just at 6 weeks or so. Because I have a kid on the way, I can't really support my family on $8.75/hour. I've thought about going to a temp agency and just taking whatever they offer me, but I really need to find something with insurance and time is a factor. I cannot afford all the hospital fees associated with the childbirth out of pocket; plus I would like to have insurance for my newborn. I mentioned above that I had applied for 106 jobs; the majority of these were entry level positions asking for a HS diploma or equivalent, the rest were entry level positions asking for a bachelors degree.

It gets a little trickier guys... my wife is not a US national. She doesn't need to change her citizenship in order to work, but we need to get her a green card and so far we've been met with a lot of red tape. We are continuing to work on getting her green card, but the process may take over a year. I met my wife while she was working on her masters degree as a foreign student here in the U.S. Because of this issue my wife isn't legally allowed to work until we get this resolved; plus... she's pregnant.

So yeah... I'd love some advice if any of you guys have it. Again, I'm not above working any kind of job but I need to be able to afford the bare minimum to survive + insurance. I'm considering moving to my wife's home country (I lived there for a few years), but it would be a harder life for all of us. Also growing would be a death sentence; literally.

Sorry to complain,
Kas

I didn't mean to come across as lazy.. if I did I apologize. The lack of bud isn't the reason why life would be hard abroad there. China isn't the easiest country to live/work in for a foreigner unless you're in a big city such as Shanghai, Beijing, or Hong Kong.

If you're in China then you're right; I wouldn't grow. In this day and age of 'free trade' though, translators are always in demand if you can speak Mandarin and English.

Or, if you have the ability, you could start a class to teach people to speak English. Use google to find info on how to do it. Start a class and charge people a nominal sum to learn English.
