30 days long enough

Is 30 days long enough for viable seeds to form after pollination?

4 weeks, really? What is a good time frame for totally mature seed?

Typically it takes 3-5 weeks but 30 days is kind of the standard most go with.

Thanks, I've been pondering this question recently.

So if a seed is viable after 30 days, how long before it can be sown and can this curing process be excellerated?

I agree, and yeah some will say otherwise....but I think it depends on the specific seed too.

If the bud is dry, and they fall out on their own, and they are plump and colorful (tiger striped) ....they wil usually germ if you do it correctly.

If you make seed under floros allow 40 days minimum for the seeds to get ripe..

Under HID you will get some fully ripe seeds in 30 days, but I like to leave them for at least 40, as you end up with less immature seeds this way.

I like to use soma's saying for harvesting sensi buds... "When the buds (seeds) look ready, give it another week"

And yes, fresh, ripe seeds will germ no problem, usualy faster than normal.

Interesting.

I recently sowed seeds about a month after being 'maled'. The seeds are an imature brown rather than a plump black and seeds taken yesterday at 42 days are similar.

None of the 30 day seeds have germinated after 9 days so it doesn't look good.

Sounds like good advice.

Thanks to all those who replied to my post. It would seem that the question is a pineapple.

I just cut a 30 day pollinated branch and all the seeds are good the rest of the plant has 1 month to go.

I have heard that if you put the seeds into to refrigerator for a few weeks, they will have a better germ rate. They seem to think that winter has passed or something.

The fridge for a few weeks sounds reasonable. The same thing works with bulbs like tulips when you want to grow them in a climate that has mild winters.

I have had fresh seeds germinate in 2 days the fridge is to keep them viable longer. I can say without a doubt that "fresh" seeds germinate well.

Hey octodiem, when you say I just cut a 30 day pollinated branch and all the seeds are good, have you germinated any of them or do they just look good?

Thanks in advance.
