just skimmed through the thread and .. some of yall were saying not to use a ground with ac? ac don't work without a ground.........( not sure i understood you) yall are crazy.hell most new appliances come double grounded for safety(4 wire the 4 prong plug instead of the 3 you see on 240 v appliances) i guess thats the 4th wire your talk en about? should be red and black 120 120 v and then 2 grounds a green and a white? you don't really need the extra ground, its backup in case something happens to the other you can stack the grounds on top of each other
ps are you sure your gana run less than 30 amps?

I think you need to stop giving electrical advise.

First of all the white wire is a neutral and the green wire is a ground. A ground and a neutral are not the same thing. A neutral is for circuitry, a ground is for safety. 240v appliances, including a/c's, don't need a neutral. Many 240v appliances have a neutral connection because they use 120v for things like the light in an oven.

Man, why are you giving electrical advice when you don't have a clue what you are talking about? Haven't you ever heard that it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt? There are at least five or six very well qualified electricians who answer electrical questions on this forum. You need to find somewhere else to play other than on electrical threads. Uninformed people giving dangerous advice aren't tolerated very well and you will just find yourself insulted and humiliated next time you post bullshit like you did here.

green and white are both grounds, appliances come with double grounds? Its very apparent you dont know wht you are talking about.

I agree with PharmaCan. If you dont know what you are talking about keep quiet when it comes to electrical. While I could have answered this thread and many others, I do not respond unless I am 100% sure of what I am saying
