3 accused of smoking pot in NJ police parking lot

TOTOWA, N.J. (AP) — State troopers in northern New Jersey didn't have to go far to make a pot bust. They didn't even have to get in their cruisers.
Police say they caught three men lighting up in a car in the parking lot of the barracks in Totowa (TOH'-toh-wah).
What gave the men away? Police say a trooper setting out for night patrol caught a whiff of marijuana.
The three men were charged with drug possession. Police say they were waiting for another man who was inside the station picking up paperwork for an impounded car. He was also charged with drug possession.
Authorities say for some reason, the men didn't expect to see a trooper in the parking lot of the state police barracks.

I'd say these fellows were following the "hiding in plain site" strategy, assuming that the cops would never expect somebody to actually smoke weed that close to the police station. They unfortunately forgot about the smell factor....the nose knows.

Again, this is just Mother Nature's way of cleaning out the poop in the human gene pool. Something tells me society really is safer with these geniuses not out on the road doing God knows what.

Back in the day, Weed was not so fragrant. I have done what these guys have done many of times.

Today is another story. Marijuana really has a lot more smell now.

But... Here in Seattle I smoke in the park, I smoke at Alki Beach, I smoke at Pike Place Market. I mean it is just a puff here and there, more of a tune up, not a full blown smoke-out (unless it is one of the thousands of festivals we have here).

Never been to New Jersey... Best I stay out. It must be like the south there, Like Florida. I don't like to go to Florida much anymore and I have hundreds of people there.

LOL, when I was a teenager, I used to get the bus into and over to the other side of the city to score my weed/hash, 3 buses. The last bus home, the bus stop was right outside a police station, and I used to roll and smoke a joint there every time.
One night I crossed to the other side of the road to speak to someone I knew. Result, my 1st Cannabis arrest.
Always stay right outside the cop shop. Do not cross the road.
