3/600's or 2/1000's = Best Yielding Set-Up

Which do you think is the better yielding set-up ?

Both set-ups in 8" Reflectors w/a 8" Vortex Fan & Filter,
running: filter > reflectors > fan > outside of room

3/600's in a 3' wide x 9' long = 27 sf = 66 wpsf

or

2/1000 in a 4' wide x 8' long = 32 sf = 62 wpsf

Peace !

More points of light is a happier healthier grow. ie....if I had but one plant, putting it under one 1000 watt will not yield what could be had splitting the light into two 500 watt sources and parking them on opposite sides of the plant.
As well, more and more growers are realizing better yields from 600 watt sources. I take they are finding out the difference between personal and cash crop growing philosphies.

Go 3 600's in a 4x8 hut.... Then get the same setup again, flip flop it, run em other a growtronix and that's what you call a dream setup. And bud for a year.

Impressive thick buds their Stoney..I'd go with the 3 600's myself, more cost efficient to go with 2 lights tho i think..

Im glad you brought this up nat. Im building a stadium 8 ft long 6 ft wide 8 ft high and was comtemplating 1 1000w and 2 600 w or 4 600w I already have the 1000w hps but I think the 4 600w would over lap better and give a better yield. this here what you all think.

yeah, i'm not even remotely close to doing anything, just throwin ideas around, hehe, kinda wish i had also added a third option, 4/400's lol, oh well...

i have tried the 400s and while they work great for scrog I just dont get enough light penitration , you can run them a lot closer to the plants but when you have different strains its hard to keep them all even, they work great for vegging though.

I'd day put the 2 1ks on a mover. I say no replacement for displacement. 2k or 1800w. I put my 1ks on a mover or dome hood just almost as low (6 in dif?) as my 600 off the mover and dont get burning. My .02

i got 2600w right now and like it. Of course I want more now. :rasta:

thanks for the info, how expensive is your mover and are you running cool tubes? and how much more heat do the 1000w produce compared to the 600w? we all want more, its the american way!

The movers are like 200 tops and I dont even think that much. 130 if I remember correctly. I dont run cool tubes. Those big dome hoods spread the heat good and since its cold where I am now the heat generated from the bulbs and ballast are welcomed. I'd say the ballasts run slightly hotter and the bulbs too but nothing crazy. I have a large room so the movement of air and evacuation of hot air is easy with a nice Vortex or 2 in the summer. I run just my AC on fan and a smaller cfm fan drawing air from outside for the cold/oxygenated stuff and I have a small elec heater for when the lights go out or its just a freezing cold day. In the summer the ballast go outside the room and I really up the air circulation. I also run the AC and go down to 2k for the power usage of the AC.

i think your first idea with 1k and 2x6oo is the best. id get a MH bulb for the 1k and hps's for the 600's
im seriousely thinking about a stadium run at my new place. :joint:

I say the 1000's. it is all about the watts.

the more the merrier.

i just pulled 3+ pounds off a 4'x8' table 2 600s on a light mover 4 plants per sqft

Damn, that's a nice grow room. :canabis:

I 'd go with the 3X600 watt, you get 200 more watts the other way but, it's not not going to hit the plants as efficiently.

when I did a comparison of my 1000 and 600. The only diffrence I noticed is the 1000 nugs were denser and harder. Anyways its not watts or even lumens that matter its about how much par your plants get. think it stands for photoactive radiation. choose bulbs wiseley based on par not lumens

Thus heavier? One would think but maybe there's another train of thought here. I use a combo of 1ks and 600's so I'm outta this one. Biased I guess.lol

I use eye hortilux the 1000 has 450 par watt and the 600 has 370 par watts. Just according to those figures alone 2 600 still dont give off the same par watts as 1 1000. Just more lumens. Maybe thats why the nugs on my 1000 are denser? anybody got an idea or opinion??
