3 1000w on 4x8 is it gonna work?

93 watts per sq' is overkill....62 watts per sq' with 2k would be all you need and then some.

I am not picking here. I genuinely do not understand why people are discouraging him. Suppose he yields 1 gram per watt with 2000 watt over a 4x8. Cool. If he can add 1000 watts, and still get 1 gram per watt, he now has 3000 grams instead of 2000 grams.

If he keeps his environment right, which may be more challenging with another lamp, this is quite doable. Maybe you are putting too much stock in conventional wisdom?

I will say it again: A buddy of mine pulled 7 pounds with this setup.

Good gardening and good luck, biglongblunt.

I should add that I have done nearly the same idea - 3 600s over a 3x6.
0.86 grams per watt. No popcorn. Just high quality, very dense bud.

I got 3 lb. from a 4x8 table with 2 1000 watt hps bulbs 21 plants so why use the extra bulb might as well throw another 10-12 plants unto another table and go for over 4lbs

I am suggesting you could skip the other table and plants, add the 1000 watt lamp, and get 4.5 pounds.

Is it better to use more space and plants to get the same yield?

That's "if "you can get 4.5 lbs off the same number of plants in the same area only changing the amount of light. I find this doubtful IMHO

Yes, there is certainly a point of diminishing returns. 50% more lamp will add more heat, which must be dealt with. No one will be yielding 1 gram per watt at 130 degrees F. But if the climate is in check, I think diminishing returns is well past the 100 watts per square foot mark.

I should add that I speak to the specific situation, which is a 4x8 table.

If he had 2 4x8 tables, I would say run 2k over each side by side. The overlapping light from lamps on a grid instead of a line really ups the intensity.

I am only saying that, if he has room for another 4x4 table he's better off adding more plants then cramming 3 lights over a 4x8 table

there is also a 4x4 right next to the 4x8 its right next to each other with total of 4000w on them..3 on 4x8 n 1 on 4x4
i will let ya kno the result like after 4more wks

There is a point of diminishing returns. Sure another light will yield more but how much more? I think the 3rd light over another another 4x4 table would give you better yield.

I use 3 1k watt light on 2 4 *8 tables next to each other and it seems to be just perfect lighting, I think on one tray its just more then is needed but I still have yet to try it so I couldnt say for sure

how many pounds can u pull outta that set up?

Having the overlapping light will definitely be of benefit. If you don't want to use the extra light, then use a light mover. It also depends on your style of growing, number of plants, pruning, and so on...

I want to do 2 1k lights over a 4x9 area but am worried not about heat but about my bill and how much it will change from the single 1k I am using now. Will it stand out to the electric company once at 2k is my ?? Any one with info please let me know if it is safe or will raise too many brows. Heat is not a worry. Thanks for the help!
