If your planning on running sealed w/ co2 I'd suggest a 24k BTU AC per room (be it a window unit, or better yet a split).

If it'll be flipping I'd suggest 30a 240v circuit for your lights. 20a 240v circuit for your AC, and maybe a few 15-20a 120v circuits per flower room for co2 generator and other misc stuff like oscillating fans, dehumidifiers, etc.

Veg room could be 2000w and ran off of a few 20a 120v circuits.

If running horizontally I'd make each flowering room 8' x 11' (or there a bouts).. allowing you to run TWO 4x8 trays per room with a 3' isle down the middle so you've got room to work.

I have no experience with light rails, but OK for veg. I wouldn't bloom with em. I personally prefer to veg with HPS, but T5s or MH would be adequate. If running MH I'd suggest the Ushio 1000w MH.

EDIT - check out

for a cool little online layout planner. There are many others like it, but this one seems to be easy to use to throw together little layout drafts.

If you've got a successful 4k room running right now, why don't you just duplicate it x 2?

need info on layout and and power supplie, mostly.but was hoping to get as many ideas as i can befor i do the build. and i plan to post updates to the icmag site as i go...would like to to have 1-4 plants per light harvest one 4k room everymonth and have a office/storage room wit a closet big enuf to dry all the organic meds!while only using one veg room. it all needs to fit in a 20x24 area.any and all ideas will be considerd...will be posting pics of currant grow soon.will answer all qustions daily..and thanks flowerfarmer for the website it will be usefull.

While you may be able to get by with less I'd recommend having 100amps at your disposal. If your building the pole building you might as well just have it on its own meter/electrical drop from the pole. Being its a "shop" and you'll be starting from scratch go ahead and just have a 100a-200a main panel installed. Go 200a.. no reason not to if they are already having to run line from a pole.

From there I'd allocate at least 70a to your cause...perhaps less if you are not going to run sealed rooms and just planning on cutting some holes for intake/outtake. I personally would make 2 flowering rooms, a veg room and run some split ACs. That way you can just hang lights and be on with the show without struggling with temp issues.

I'm going to dick around with a layout and show you what I would do.. stand by.

Sounds like your game plan is awesome.. chopping a 4k room once a month.

Well.. I made a badass layout.. but then I clicked a wrong link and it erased everything.. sorry man, but I'm not doing it all again.

But.. if your space is 20x24 I would simply make FOUR 8'x12' rooms. You'll have 2 for flower (2 4x8 trays per room with isle down middle).. one for veg/cloning/equipment, etc. And lastly you'll have one for your office w/ closet dry space.

Making 4 8x12 spaces would give you 4' hallway right down the middle of the pole building.. entering from the 20' side. Put the two 8x12 flower rooms along one of the 24' walls. On the other wall you'll have 2 more identical sized rooms.. one for veg.. one for office.

That is how I would do it.

200a panel - around 70a-100a dedicated to everything GROW
FOUR 8'12' rooms..2 bloom, 1 veg, and 1 dry/trim/utility.

Yup defiantly going to have a isle down the middle.Never thought of that, thanks man.Jest got the trees cut down and the stumps removed.Tomorrow i get to get the building permit.I will be sure to post as updates as i go.Still looking for any ideas or tips..thanks for Ur help.

Room looks great. That is one giant bottle of Humboldt Roots!

Keep us posted as you start to do your build out of the interior of your new building.

Couldn't reply to your PM.. your box is full. Not from Michigan though..

1. I would have a pro shoot spray insulation on the inside walls of that metal structure. It will prevent dew build up. Have you seen apollo 13? It will also reduce your cooling needs in the summer and heating in the winter.

2. I would build a room between the two bloom rooms and put all the charcoal filters and vent fans inside it so it will help cool/ventilate both rooms. Read up on lung rooms if this sounds foreign.

3. At least in MI AC isn't necessary, but who knows how the heating/cooling requirements are where you live or in the pole barn. How are the temperatures in it now with nothing running in it?

4. I am happy to hear you have plenty of room to build the two flower rooms, a veg room and a drying/dirt mixing room. Might want to even hook up the lung room to the drying room to control odor and humidity.

5. does the pole barn have a water tap?

Dose anyone no where a guy could rent a machine that sprays the foam??I plan to do 90% of the work myself, with the help of a few close friends.Trust me I would love to use the hole 24x40 for growing, but i need a spot to park my truck and quad ect.!!Yeah here in Michigan i don't need the A/C in the winter but come summer time i will need it.Will have to do more research on the lung rooms Ive heard of them but not sure on details..I usually run sealed rooms with the bottle can you do that with a lung room or would it suck out all my co2?when the pole barns complete it will have water.Planning to have it a completed by November 1st..I have never growing the Apollo 13. heard some good things about it tho..I have had the chance to taste some and it was kill. please keep all the good ideas coming, you can never have to many opinions.

Nice.. standing by.

Love seeing a space come together from the ground up. I think it excites me even more then actually growing plants.

Build it & blow it.

i ended up buying some land that already had a pole barn built. It needs to be fixed up a little but bought the hole property for the price of a 30 by 40 barn.. couldn't pass it up. oh and the buildings inside dimensions are 22 by 62 feet with 10 feet high ceilings!!!huge up grade from my 12by12by7 room!
