24H timers constantly failing!

Every one of these timers that I've bought have failed, doesn't matter where or what i plug into them(even just your standard book lamp which their meant for correct, they fail.) after about 3-10 days they just stop working. Sometimes after playing with them for a bit(adjusting pins, twisting the dial a few time, etc.) they will work again but not for long.

This is really starting to shit me, even the expensive digital one that i paid $84 for and was supposed to be "heavy duty" and "this will handle just about anything" lasted all but half a day.

I have to be fucking home now at those certain times of the day we all know about just in case a timer fails, what a shitty problem to have.

Anyone have any ideas?

where and what are you buying X? I been using the same three or four timers for years.. Home Depot or Lowes.. not digital, I bought them but I'm not smart enough for those.. :tiphat:

I'm not the smart one for electricity either but your not pluggin em into a 30 amp service are you? burning them out seems to me overload ????

I have had very good results from home depot digital timers that are $10-$15. They are Defiant Daylight Adjusting Heavy Duty Timers.

I had shitty mechanical timers I got with Ipower grow lights, rated at 1600W and 3 melted with 1200 watts plugged in, very quickly.

You have to look at the inductive load not just rated watts. HID's put a high inductive load on start up. It sounds like you have a electrical issue at the source or you are running them past the rated capacity. What type of light/s are you trying to control?
Get a real grow light control timer. It was meant for that purpose and can control your timing as well as other things. It will give you high temp shut off and hot start delay features that are very good...for the money you have spent on crapping out timers you could have a quality timer that will last for a long time. Check the Sentinel line out.

After a mechanical timer failed ONE week after I bought it, I bought another digital timer so now I have two. I am timer challenged so I have one set on veg, and one set on flower. Seriously they are hard to set up so I time on a 60 watt house lamp until I get it right.

I read in another forum that there is a person living in Australia having the exact same problems you described.

If using a timer to run anything with inductive current ,400 w 600w 1000w use the timer to run a contactor let the contactor handle the load thats what they are for .A

I use seimens timers
