24 hour darkness before switching to 12/12

don't give the plants 24 hours of dark. where in nature do you see that? nowhere.

the best you can do is to start lowering the light hours progressively...

lets say, if you are on 16/8, then go to 14/10 for a week, then to 12/12 for a month and then 10/22 for the rest of the cycle...

:)

lol yes and we had this same discussion on page one, also like the 3 pages discussing the breakdown of intelligent speech in the USA...there is no point reiterating it all over and over...

why? Because of this thread several of us gave it a try and IT DOESN'T WORK! that's the end of the discussion! it's just another dumb stoner myth...it baffles me how much this happens lately, a thread gets an answer right away, but nobody bothers to read more than the first post, so they just keep discussing the same things over and over with each new page, nobody read the last 5 pages to realize what they said has already been said 10 times over...the worst part is that the actual ANSWER to the question gets wiped into oblivion, because it comes after the first few pages, then gets buried behind 4 pages of kids who never bothered to read into whether somebody already answered it or not...so the true answer gets lost under 3 pages of kids guessing after the fact cause they are too lazy to read...

of course pot evolved outdoors over millions of years, pure sativas can be the size of a living room outdoors, is it natural to train it into a small cab? is anything about indoor growing natural? tap water, fertilizer salts, light bulbs, training, cloning, it's all unnatural, plants are dumb, and can be tricked sometimes into doing something unnatural and maybe even wonderful, but a lot of the times they can't...basically I'm saying that "that's not natural" is not a valid argument for almost anything pot related, look at the 12-1 lighting thread, it's 25% people who tried it and said it worked, and 75% people who have never tried it, saying it cant work because it's not "natural"

i say we just finish this, the 24 hour darkness before flowering is a moronic stoner myth tested by myself and several others in this thread...doesn't matter if it's natural or not, IT DOESN'T WORK! oh yes and also to wrap up the rest of these 6 pages, yes kids are taking over the internet, their parents and our schools failed them, they are all morons, they can't speak English, or type it...they are lazy tools and don't deserve as much respect as people who care about learning... there, the story is over!

i have done the 24 hours of dark, i have also done without it and i have seen that flowers started 3 to 4 days earlier, but the flowers had very few herms when i darked. the strain is a unstable clone only sour d so that could be why the herms. i have seen no dif in potentcy

Also, here is something else to throw into the fray.....just because I like to instigate at times...C3 and C4 plants have different needs.
I've read over and over that photosynthesis does not take place during the 'dark phase/cycle'...C4 plants need a dark cycle to live!!!!!

I know this has no bearing on our beloved C3 plant we are all so fond of but the reason I mention this is exactly because of the argument which persists over 'natural' and 'unnatural'....Of course we are doing something very unnatural. We are not trying to emulate nature. We are trying to achieve the best possible conditions for our plants so they can produce the most amount of flowers/buds/fruit.....call it what you will...along with the highest content of THC as well.
Whatever course of action you have found to work the best for you is the one you will use and no amount of debating, scientific evidence or in the extreme cases, name-calling and derogatory comments will make you change your growing methods.

Again, I'll repeat. You will use what works best for you and no can nor will change your mind! Soil, organic, HID, LED, hydro, etc..etc.. the methods are as varied as there are growers. We all have our own little 'thing' we think works the best for us.

Can we change our ways?? Yes..I, personally, am trying LED's now to see if it's comparable to HID's. Until I have the results for myself, no amount of anything will change my mind. The same goes for the topic at hand.

So please, can we agree to disagree and even if we can't.....can we at least try to maintain some civility?

Thank you for listening and reading my rant.. I needed to get that out........

Good Luck to all......:smoker:

Lilguy, that's awesome you mentioned the black. I love that strain when it's done rite and left to fully mature. I miss having me some black around since I moved away.

I don't think those 2 kinds are related but I'm not sure because I took look at the black you are talk in about it's mostly indica but I'm not sure because your doesn't say what it was bread from.

The black were talking about is short for "black haze" which is sativa. Our black also takes much longer to ripen 90-100 days I think is the sweet spot. I've heard of people taking it passed 100 and some of the local commercial growers take as quick as 75 days which is too early in my opinion.

Our black is a south Florida clone only strain that's been around for 20+ years and popular in Cuban circles down there. There are some legends were it came from but I don't know how much truth there is behind them so I won't get into that. The leaves are dark and so is the budz. I've never seen anyone speak of it here in icmag but I do wish one of these good breeders here would make some hybrid of here. Maybe cross her with a kush or even some COOKIES might be delicious

letting you all know that BCBUD has a strain called The Black if you did not know that.. Im thinking its been out 5 years now since it was released.. If you need info on it im sure you can locate it. I wont ever buy anything from bcbud.. This is why you never name your strain the same as another causes to much confusion.

BC Bud Depot Seeds The Black The Black is an incredible indica not for the light-of-heart that dates back to the late 1980's in California and on Vancouver Island. This medication is guaranteed to sooth and produce, with crystal coated fan leaves that turn from dark purple to black during flowering. With an instantaneous high and a soothing narcotic nature, The Black makes for a very beneficial nighttime herb. Genetics: 90% Indica / 10% Sativa Flowering Time: Indoor: 8-10 weeks / Outdoor: Mid October

Hammerhead,

Like I told you I don't think those two are related. I did check out there website, but I'm not sure since bcbd doesn't speak of there blacks parent stock. Our black is also a great and strong nighttime herb. Ours has very dark leaves also but ours also has a dark bud on it. The biggest difference is ours is sativa. Also I wouldn't blame bcbd for manning it "the black" because ours is "black haze" it's just called "the black" as a nickname. Also it's very popular and common in south Florida but not many people besides the locals there know about it. That's why I was surprised when lilguy mentioned the black. But clearly is there or was there. It's a 305 thang!

Lilguy,

Our black is one of my favorites also. It's great fortnight smoking cuz it just knocks me out after blazing her. I like taking her 90+ also but I've never taken her much more. I've never taken her down early but I know some commercial guys that take her early. I don't think it's the rite move but they like saving the extra time for the next run

When I read the name The Black I thought BCBUD.. who ever breed it needs to think about that. I would hate to have my gear confused with BCBUD. When I like a name the first thing I do is google it to make sure there is not another using it. Never refer to it as The Black it will just confuse people call it what it is The Black Haze always..

From what im reading here there are 3 strains that are called The Black that's not good IMO..

Good Luck with it..

And what about outdoors? If i leave them in outdoors for 24 or 48 h of darkness 2 weeks ago then plants natural turn in flowering time.

i'm sorry to tell you this but this is just a stoner myth, i tested it last month and it did nothing but stress my plants a little, they are on day 30ish right now and are no farther along that the last round and started flowering the same day as usual if not a day later...outdoors or indoors would not change the results.

it stresses me to this day that i actually wasted my time testing this dumb myth...and wrote out my results quite clearly, but unless it's in tweet form nobody seems to care, they don't bother to read the answer...there are 7 pages of people saying it would never work, and people ACTUALLY testing it out and finding it doesn't work! yet people still skip all of it...and post at the end "well does it work? did anybody try it?"

NO IT DOESN'T WORK! IT IS ANOTHER DUMB MIDDLE SCHOOL STONER MYTH AND IT'S BEEN PROVEN TO DO NOTHING!

I have, in the past, worked with an incredibly tolerant plant. There was nearly nothing I could do schedule-wise to induce hermaphrodism. It was a long time ago and I worked without timers. At times the light cycle would be left for 24 hours and the dark cycle equally long. I believe these hormonal triggers are relatively simple mechanism in plants, and do not require any specific continuity beyond one simple qualifier: less than 12 hours of darkness on a regular basis will not trigger flowring or flowrsets. I found to great delight that extended dark periods in the stretch phase GREATLY diminished stretch. This plant was very squat to begin with but i could effectively produce individuals that flowered less than a half foot overall. If you are working with CFLs or something with a limited penetration this can be very valuable in maximizing grms/watt. That is all.:dance013:HOWULIEKITBITCH! :dance013:
