Now, many things are being crossed with autos and or femmed lines in order to appeal to rookie Rec companies who are growing as per their investor's suggestions/commandments.
Cant find The One or Blue Orca anywhere (Swami's white-label guy Gascannistan won't release them because $$$). GSC polyhybrids being passed off as OG.

I also wanna blame us some of the customers for this demise and this weird place were at with the gene pool.. once we allowed people to copy other work and not bash them to hell like the old days it’s became the norm

Once that avenue opened it became who can make the crosses with the strains first people like copycat went from laughing stock to selling seeds for 200 .. they realized u don’t have to actually do anything just get popular strains and mash them together

Now it’s literally a rat race to see who can mash clones first .. that’s just one layer u also have the breeders who been around forever SWITCH genetics quietly and pass those off as classics .. they are not the same and actually make a worse name for the classic from people who actually know the classics but people will defend them still

U have breeders with FAKE cuts and they don’t come back and say they fucked up I see this happen with that shoreline and crippy strain like 3x ..

I remember when there was a big debate on here about fem seeds and them being terrible most breeders on 2010 only sold regs .. fems was literally a new market now it’s the standard market all of this played into the gene pool being ass rn

Alot of young growers I've met just have no real idea of what has transpired the last ...48 years for me since I started smoking. I was in the age of commercial Colombian and Mexican when one day my buddy Jimmy Ludes turned me onto Heineken and Skunk. This was around 1980. It was a green pot world after that and in 1987 I started growing. In this photo there was another cultivar besides Williams Wonder. Twas a Skunk Hawaiian that was like Afghani.

I don't do the Dead scene anymore but I still grow and have my own old genetics. I try to find a balance because I like trying new stuff too though true to this thread I see the decline of genetics thru autos, fems, and bad practices.
The good thing about the last twenty years though is the landrace preservation work, and the access to genetics that if real are things I'd never thought I'd see.

That was my bed! Lol ..I literally had a mattress on top of my grow. A loft. I had a 1000w MH and 400 w Hps in that little space. I started as a hydro grower. I didn't really have a favorite strain. I liked the Nigerian Kandahar. Beatrix Choice. Skunk#1. I wasn't a garlic bud fan.Some of my real favorites are unnamed. Colombians, Purple sativa. Nepalese kush, Big Sur Holy Weed, Mexican cartoon weed- Oaxacan? In 96 in Montana I grew a bagseed I assumed was a Mexican. I now wonder what I stumbled upon. Sativa. Compact. Catpiss, astringent terps. Everything I read about Chemdogs sounds like this stuff. And I am a pot caveman- I have never seen Chemdogs in any form. I want to do one of those YouTube shows...Pot Caveman tries Chem for the first time.

I lost all my 80s and 90s genetics due to parents and prohibition. I honestly don't even know what became of my 80' s collection which had killer Chocolate Thai and other nice stuff. A sweet indica hybrid with loud terps that were so nice. Never smelled it again.
