2024 State of the genepool discussion.

I think the state of the dispensary choices however is pretty much all the same genetic.

Genetics aren't the issue. It's the growers. I've been growing a Blueberry indica strain for 3 years, it's a Jungle Boys strain called Zacks Cake. They have no idea it's a blueberry flavored plant.

The legal grows in California are so bad, they don't even know what their own shit tastes like when grown correctly. Pretty sad you can show a Cali grower his own gear and he won't recognize it, cuz his smells like "earthy doughy floral gass" instead of the actual weed strain aroma.

I don't doubt you a bit about the WOD bringing about what we have today. But, I just don't think that it was a bad thing. Indoor growers back in the year 2000ish were bringing about the lines that some folks here think of as the glory days. They were the glory days for those who, when they were lucky enough to score, had been getting 'field grown', that was sticks, seeds, feathers, wire etc. It was chucking, and it was good.

I can tell you what 'field grown' is going to be like, just by watching the wheat farmers. It will be made to fit the harvest machines...that will be one of the first factors. It will be bred to be sprayed and fed hard. It will be bred to fit many growing environments, so that more seed can be sold. Those requirements will narrow the choices and varieties of what will be available. Potency and flavor will not be first considerations, at all. Both of those can be 'enhanced'.

If you know much about the tobacco varieties and history, you will understand much more about where the Cannabis industry is going. Thousands of types of tobacco, and just a few companies using a few types or blends... People developed life long 'brand' preferences, when there are probably hundreds of options that that they never got to try, that would have been much preferred over their supermarket choice.

Me? I am a huge fan of closet chuckers. May they continue their work!

I've been on dispensary concentrates for some time. That has made me realize that ALL herb seems to be weak sauce, and that potency is largely a matter of to what a person has been accustomed.

Oh, I've had some vietnam weed that made me think that I was going to die. But, no. Would I have made concentrate out of the vietnam weed, the concentrate would kick way harder. As if I have no experience with 'real flower'? I've been around since before weed from mexico was bricked.

Complexity and quality of the effects are a lot harder to find than an oil that ko’s you. But, to each their own.

When you go around to India you see not much has changed about weed in nature, still insane hash and creme there
But everywhere else that people have touched it has gotten worse
Ams, Thailand, USA,
The list goes on and on
The pursuit after money destroys everything eventually as it's one of the main roots of evil
Nothing good can sustain in that environment for long.

We have seed makers pushing chucks for 100$ that they don't even know what they hold, not tested for anything, just two names together is enough today to have some kind of idea on their own "work".
You're really losing your focal point.

You're on some altruistic righteous war against expensive seeds. We get it. We all hate it.

Out of all the recent posts you've made you still haven't really narrowed it down to a coherent post about what makes a "elite" an elite.

And the fact that you don't think "elites" should be used for breeding is just absolutely wild to me. Like beyond wild.

I just can't wrap my head around it.

the problem with most store bought extractions is they are tooo refined,... imo you don't get a full bodied high,...i personally don't like water hash either ..sterile .... dry sift through a 160 or even 220 micron screen /bubble bag gives you everything you would get from burning flower only in a very concentrated form .... the lower the screen size the less that is true ..becomes one dimensional

I somewhat agree on this.

I prefer whole plant rosin myself.

I buy from the dispensaries just to switch it up from the normal stuff I process myself. It seems to do the trick.

If you like combusting biomass that's all you.

Hash or nothing.
For me, finger hash is the only concentrate that keeps most of the character of the flower. It’s the heated pressing, solvent extraction, and mixing of oils from different individual plants that ruin oils.

I like to smoke. Some biomass adds to the character of the smoke as long as it’s not full of chlorophyll.

Make your own Rosin. A press is cheap. I bought mine when they were expensive.
When I smoke finger hash it hasn’t been above 70* or so for at least 2 weeks. I also smoke my hash within an Hour or two of peeling it off my gloves. Freshness is a quality nobody talks about.

Pressure and heat kill the product.

I will say the press is better than solvent extraction.

Looks good. Amazing how I would consider both the GDP and the Querkle as 'new', not old. I'm a fan of spacequeens and querkle is right in that wheelhouse.

The original GDP clone is one of the legendary cuts which is very old. Querkle is old but not the same status.

That's why Cannabis has something for all.. More people love Rosin than hate it. Finger hash is not something you can share. Its def not something any should smoke unless you made it. Finger hash has contamination from skin cells.

I grew a bunch of ken estes gdp seeds when he first released it and didn't find anything except arm sized flowers with mid to weak potency.

. Ive never grown anything from Kens estate. The original GDP clone was around long before Kens estate popped up. Lots of info on the net he used something other than the original clone to make his GDP version.

If we could sum up the 2024 gene poll in a pic it would look like this.

You aren't missing much. I had heard some reviews on gdp and that it was a purple plant that actually had a kick and kens is all I could find at the time.
