Out of all the things you've seen or read about in 2019 regarding cannabis cultivation, which one would you say will have the most impact going forward?

The Hop Latent Viroid discovery in cannabis. Seems to explain dudding to some extent, although I still think there is more that can trigger dudding than just this viroid. Suffice to say that dudding is an epigenetic response in cannabis and HLV is clearly a trigger for it.

Here is a video explaining it more.

I found an article on January 9th that explained in nature plant offspring inherit their microbiome from the remains of the parent and surrounding plant life (common sense right? lol). The interesting part was that each plant offspring generation also inherits better adapted/evolved strains of the preferred microorganisms from the previous generation's host plant species! These environmentally better adapted "domesticated" microorganisms then begin to compete with the native microorganism population to establish dominance of survivability for the host plant species.

Can't believe no one has mentioned CBD. As far as I know, that is a relatively new discovery, isn't it. At least at the level we understand, now. And, fuck. The stuff is everywhere. You can buy it in gas stations around here. The fucking insane CBD craze. And, no one mentioned it???????

Albeit, it's not cultivation, but it's definitely the biggest thing to come out of cannabis since legalization.

This is a thread about the most advanced discoveries in cannabis cultivation in 2019...? I'm not sure what CBD has to do with that. CBD has been around and been popular for years now.

Was the OP specifically looking for something that happened only in 2019? The thread title didn't give me that impression.

Not a super advanced discovery but I'd still like to find out -

I have 20 seedlings in the closet. 12 of them are cat-resistant, so I can move them to the flowering room anytime now.

The remaining 8 -
* 2 might join the cat-resistant group
* 4 are small but look they're trying
* 2 are small but look twisted & unhealthy - they're in quart yogurt cups.

All the others are in 1 gallon pots.

But if I transplant the plants in yogurt cups, there's not a lot of roots.

It's the same mix all around, G&B potting mix, something like that.

So when 2 plants in a group of 20 crap out, is that normal Cannabis genetics ?

How do you fix them, if it was worth the time ?

In the past I have found soils can be a little 2 hot, so a good rinse can help a plant that is twisted etc.

I have a hard time accepting that it's hopeless for the last 2 but at some point you just have to move on.

Or another way to look at it - like, "The Cannabis Whisperer" - the tiny unhealthy looking plants are saying something.

But what are they saying ?

You must be in your 70's, pump gas, check oil, wash windshields, check tire pressure and say thanks.
Hay bales not fancy rolls like they have today that can be plucked with a tractor and moved where you want it.
