Uv index average here in summer is 9-10 i think that is pretty high. Combine that with 110 degree heat and you have the recipe for country-fried ganja. Like i said, some strains handle intense sun better than others. Dont take my word for it though, im not a scientist.

For what it is worth I am on the edge of a desert...100 or so daily (but cooling off 30 degrees or so at night), avg humidity under 10%, UV index around 10 most of the time. No problem with Blue Dream.

If it droops chances are B and/or silica.

Im not sure what yall are getting at but i am convinced that intense heat and light can stunt growth and even fry plants. I am not just going on my experience, My neighbors who have pulled 500+ lb harvests up here for years swear by shade cloth. In their garden I was able to see a side-by-side comparison of various strains grown with and without shade cloth, and there was a drastic difference especially among the sativa dominant strains.

Now i'm not saying the climate up here makes growing sativas impossible. Most of mine came out great, but they grew at a slow rate and some had obvious sun burn on leaves and buds.

Well I learned something from your thread (mutli layered harvest's) we had planned to do something similar but..well....human beings were involved lol.

I'm sure next year will be better for us both, congratulations I still think you did well!

We're trying to tell you that even though your neighbor has a big farm and produces a lot of units, many of us are in a similar climate to you with similar heat, UV index, wind etc., growing the same or similar strains with no issues and also producing a lot of quality units...

Before you put up shade cloth all over your farm, maybe you should test your water, test your soil and do what you can to get your farm in to balance..and by all means, do a side by side with the shade cloth...

I'll just throw out for the last time, the only time plants haven't been able to deal with the intense summer has been when there is an issue with B, K, Mg, S ...Keys for new cells

Yep same neighbors.

I havent been to see them in almost a month so idk exactly how much those dudes pulled this year specifically. SO, in order to avoid exaggerating i said they have "pulled 500+lb harvests for years." Apparently that aint impressive to your backyard farming ass . But i dont know why you aint growin your own 1000pack since you are such an expert. Contrarians piss me off esp when you aint got shit to show for it.

But I know two things:
1. I aint a liar
2. Plants out here do better under shadecloth

If you want to throw up a side-by-side and prove me wrong feel free, only a few months until next season ;). Our plans include shadecloth. Good luck with yer back yard!

Fuck.......Vag n Out/Backyard Farmer`s back , and pono gets banned......

WTF is goin on at this site where idiots can talk down to anyone
they see fit , and then solid members like pono get the axe....

Shcrews bro....ANY Harvey`s a good Harvey regardless if they were "only" 3 lb`ers......Road to Nirvana`s long and winding and you`ll get there cuz you stay after it and keep strokin.....

Always gonna be know it all`s around slingin dick , but talkin down to folks without explanations or illustrations is just wrong in so many ways...

We`re ALL here to learn , and teaching instead of scolding is by FAR the best route for knowledge to be shared and gained.......

Don`t TELL me what I`m doin wrong with no other explanation other than absolutes with no way ta fix it in the present....Help me fix it next run , and that`s how respect and gratitude`s built between folks once knowledge and experience get shared instead of shoved down somebody`s throat and force fed.......anyways.....

Pono....Come back.....plenty proxy server`s out there to sign back on , and we need all the solid members we can get to help the newbs and folks that wanna learn.....

Peace....DHF....:ying:.....

For what its worth, I didn't think that Backyard Farmer was being overly harsh.

I too don't think that the corrective action is shadecloth. The fact that the soil wasn't mixed till mid June and wasn't given any time to rest prior to planting was the biggest issue. Better starts will go a long way. A soil test and silica are good recommendations.

We had temps hit 115+ here two days in a row during an early heat wave, and two sensitive varieties showed a little stress, the cheese and shoreline, the og showed none. I wouldnt go covering my whole garden in shade cloth though thats kind of silly. If you have sunburn its from too little water imo, I can take a small clone in 4 in square pot from inside, put out into the full sun at elevation and it wont burn one bit if its fully watered. Like prop said I would get them out a little earlier so they have a decent foothold and they should be able to take whatever comes their way no problems.
