Congrats! Yes! I totally would recommend literally any CANNA product to anyone. I can't say that about many product lines. I've used both the TERRA and PRO soil mix, and some of their additives. After seeing what they've done for a friend, I'm going to have my shop get their coco and coco lineup. The brown bag CANNA BIO TERRA PLUS seems to drain more frequently than the CANNA PROFESSIONAL. Good luck!

The Canna lines are pretty good. I really the Canna-Coco line and once this grow I have going is done I am going back to that.

I wanted to use soil for this test because I was more familiar with it then coco and I didn't to screw it up.

Make sure that you look on the back for a expiration date like milk.

Looks like someone snapped the top off one of my flowering plants.... Excellent work mossy! Cute girls! Autos don't fuck around, they're the shortest distance between a seed and a bud... :smoke:

Stumbled across this a day or so ago... SAH started a thread in Tom Hill seeds' forum asking Tom what he thought about autoflowering plants and what would be good to hybridize them with. SaH specifically asked him about PTK!

Bunch of good stuff to read in this thread... Check it out!

Hello S_a_H,

I have very limited experience with Auto Flowering genetics. About 20 years ago I played around with them some outdoors. In the F1's between the AF ("Phil's Red") I was working with and other lines, the AF trait seemed fully expressed or not at all. I was hoping for some mid values in regards to harvest timing and saw little if any of that. I'm sure you have more experience with this though than I.

I think this is where their biggest potential lies -

If the trait is passed on in the all or nothing so to speak then I'd want it fully expressed, but I would be crossing AF's to tropicals as apposed to plants like PTK. I think we want mega-stretch, and potency/quality of smoke coupled with that AF trait. If we could deliver a plant that was planted in May and consistently harvested 4+ oz of high-quality by early August in northern climes, then we'd really have something special I think that would appeal to a wide range of growers. That's what I'd be shooting for anyway, and I don't think we could get there via PTK.

In regards to the PTK, most of the variation is in the flavor. There is pine, pineapple, lemon, skunk, and more in there. In choosing parents for hybrids, I'd select away from the broadest leaved and thick stemmed phenotypes, then towards your preferred flavor and other traits regarding resin quantity/quality. -Tom

Also, can anyone recommend any heirloom vegetable varieties that would be good to grow at 40 N latitude?

Johnny's Selected Seeds and Fedco Seeds are both in Maine. Probably two of the best vegetable seed companies anywhere. Fedco has great prices on Kelp, other hard to find nutes and growing supplies. 40 north latitude can grow almost anything. Sorry for the hijack.

Be careful with fedco though. Their germination isn't always up to standard. Make sure you're getting last years/ fresh stock. I suggest "seeds of change"

pipe..I read that on your thread the other day.
I was interested in the flavour/smells.
When I did the background history homework on the JEM..
I was keep coming back to PTK for traits/tastes/hash production
if she is not an ancestor..then she is damn close in there.
Seeing the tastes/flavours is even more convincing..

I THINK that JEM would be an excellent PTK dwarf/af rooting stock.
That is why I was questioning in your thread about the PTK..
I had that cross in mind myself..:biglaugh:

PTK would be a great cross with the Jem mossy. Ive always been interested in trying some PTK seeds. I have grown a few bag seeds from buds Ive bought and they had a distinct pine taste... Too bad we didn't take clones to keep the strain around.

PTK would be a great cross with the Jem mossy

:listen2: I THINK so too..
I wanna get a set of hybrid AF's that I can use as dwarf rooting stock to pull a long season girl into AF..
BUT..
reproduce as close as possible the traits belonging to the Original long season parent.

MY best bet (with the genetic pile I have) for that would be PTK to JEM.
I THINK they would be a Meld.
