I remember seeing a special on the Discovery channel about a Boar that was huge like this one, it lived in the woods around a Catfish farm, and was claimed to be wild.

The since determined that the Boar was a hybrid of wild Boar and a domestic meat breed, which was part of the reason it attained such a large size. Also based on its bones they determined it could not have been as heavy as was claimed.
I bet if I looked at the pic with my photoshop I could find "fraud lines" though.

I was speaking mostly of the Hog on the Discovery channel special, but the last part was about the picture featured above, I still think it is photoshopped.

Which part of this slice of heaven do you live in?

SoylentGreen- We had a great Spring/Early summer for wildflowers down here, seems like every variety bloomed in great numbers. Wild Raspberries have been producing like I've never seen before, and now Cherrys are producing greatly. I think we are in store for a great fruit year, I'm gonna try to make wine with the Blackberries this year.

High&Lonesome- I checked that plant again yesterday, its still kicking but still looked droopy, and it seems to still be the only plant suffering like this. At this point I'm not sure what is the exact problem, but it could be overwatering, underwatering, or over fertilisation. I figure as long as she limps along, I'll keep bringing her water and get her back to health, maybe she will come out of it.

HM#3 plot

HM#3 plot

I took a trip to soak my largest plot in preparation for high temps, we are predicted to reach nearly 100F several times this week.

This is the best I can do for a group shot at HM#3, only 6 of the 11 plants are visable at all. I put a pink dot on each one that is visable from this angle.

This is my largest plant right now this year, she is a OR95 and has passed up HM#1 in hight and width, 2 others in this plot are about the same size, just short of 5'.

That OR95 is really nice BC. And going to be an enormous plant!

I have an O90 female that is huge, indy-dom and vigorous... I'm going to hit her with some Afghani#1xBB pollen and, if all works out, I'd be honored if you'd give that hybrid a run in 2008.

I'll increase the ammount of water and frequency of watering as the days get hotter, and as we get further into our dry season.
When we reach mid-Sept my watering will slow down as the summer cools into fall, and as sporadic rains finally come back, around Labor day I will stop completely.
Once we are into October I will be cursing the rain, and hopping it doesn't cause mold, such is the seasonal cycles of Cannabis growth in the Guerrilla Ganja gardens of SW Oregon.

Dignan-That does sound tempting :joint:

NOFpuXnk-Its not as free range as you think, but its lots better than growing near the city, I'd actually prefer to live further out, and its no mistake that I live here either, I love the country/mountain life!
Yes, thats my grow partner puppy getting baked endlessly

le4chnation-Its getting kinda late to start seeds(for this far north), I'd hop on it quick!
My father gave me the OR95(he has been crossing good bag seed since the mid-70s), we made the OR95x Northern lights cross 10 years ago, and I got the C99 from a seedy bag from a feind of a freind not long after the towers fell, and made the OR95x C99 cross year before last.

wow, that or95 there is impressive man. looks perfect! how stable is the or95? did your father inbreed it or just continually add new genetics to the mix. i love old lines like that. :D

very nice grow. I cannot imagine how much work you put into this. Several different spots can be quite overwhelming. I do have a similar plot except in the mountainous region of colorado. Very secluded. I am just afraid of starting what i cant finish. but anyways you can continue to do the inspiring. lol

High&Lonesome- In the mid-70s, in the San Francisco bay area, lots of bud from overseas and from Humbolt/Mendo was available in the bay area, most still had at least some seeds in it. Basicly my dad started growing and crossing the seeds from anything he liked smoking, most of the genetics are probably from NorCal though. He basicly grew a small crop every year and continued growing seeds from the buds he liked.

In the early 80s we moved to SW Oregon, after a while he was given seeds from a popular local strain that was grown commecially in greenhouses(probably the same or close related to the strain known as OR90, or "Tiller killer" locally). He made one last cross to this strain, and in the 20 years since, no crosses have been made into that line, exclusively inbred and selected for harvest date and potentecy.

It is pretty stable. Some plants have a stronger old fashioned sweet skunk smell than others, but most have a stronger than normal smell/flavor than most modern strains.
I've also noticed that some plants may show wider leaves than others, and some plants have a stronger tendency to change colors than others.
The high is not overstrong in any paticular way, but I have never had one that didn't get me stoned, I'm interested to see how my plants grown in strong sunlight do, this strain has not really been grown to it full potential in full sunshine.
Bud formation is not rock hard but usually pretty crystally, having Sativaish look and feel to them, I am assuming this is part of the reason these plants have pretty good mold resistence.

The top 2 reasons I like this plant is its taste/aroma is very strong and enjoyable in its own right, and the fact that these plants do so well in my climate, it si a unique strain.
My breeding program basicly involves crossing OR95 to other strains in attempts to develop a larger variety that will do well outdoors in my area, and continuing to select the stronger and most mold free OR95s.

pookey-I know all about biting off more than I chew, that part of the reason I slowed down planting more plots this year, its already apparent that the ones I have will do.

backcountry- thanks for the detailed explanation. sounds like a killer strain! it would be interesting to see it crossed to other norcal strain like some of mr. hill's work or even something like urkle. good luck with the outcrossing, i hope you find the combination you ar elooking for. :D

I like the outcrossing with the Northern lights, the cross was made with a very good clone from California, from a cut that was popular in commercial grows around San Francisco.
This strain is also pretty stable, and i have been growing long enough to see its pros and cons over the OR95-

Pros-
Chunkier, more commercial type buds
Harder hitting stone

Cons-
Less resistance to Mold
Longer finishing time outdoors
Shows very little OR95 in the flavor and smell, has a less distinct evergreen/Pepper smell(but not unplesent)

This is my first year getting a good test on the OR95x C99 first generation, I believe this cross may become my premier guerrilla strain. I think the OR95x C99 will make a great plant for outdoor use in my region.

Pros I hope transfer from the C99-
Extreme mold resistance
Fast growth and large stature
Purple/Pink hairs(kind of a silly thing I know)

There really are no cons about the C99 for me, except to really finish it the way I like(I like to leave it out late) it can drag deep into October and the mold season.

I'd love to make crosses with a Trainwreck clone, that shit is the bomb.
