Once upon a time (Even now in some places) humans starved to death.
Now we have a TV show Called "My 600 LB life."
We as humans have a tendency to really over compensate.
Now, where people once starved to death, they eat themselves to death.
Emotions.
We as humans tend to hate negative emotions. We love to feel good all the time. If humans continue to overcompensate I see a world where no human will ever have to feel an unwanted emotion.
It may be via a electronic device, or drugs. But I see a day where one can control the release of endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin into one's own blood stream.
Over time these chemical release will be stream lined with the help of virtual reality technology I assume.
