If I understand you - you are using 1/4oz and 1 stick of butter - right? I use 1 ounce to 1 stick of butter into 16 cookies. Depending on your tolerance you might have to use more than 1/4 oz . . .

In my case . . .I smoke about 1/8 per day . .sometimes a little more . .usually of what I would consider pretty dank herb (I'm not trying to brag or "strain-drop" . .just for science let's say I smoke a crap-load of good herb). It's hard for me to get super high by smoking . . I'm sure a lot of you are in the same boat.

When I eat 1/8 of weed in a pot brownie (ie . .2 of my cookies) . .for sure I am baked. But I am not all crazy "tripping out" baked like some other folks might be . . . unfortunate but true. So maybe the problem is that your tolerance is too high . .because I'm thinking 1/4oz would do the trick for many people. I don't know how much butter you're eating in a sitting . . . I am assuming at least 25% of it . .or 1/16 ounce worth or weed eaten.

I say try using an ounce to 1 stick of butter and see if that doesn't do the trick. Then make cookies since eating butter has got to be hard on your stomach. At the very least make some gooballs.

BTW - I use the method described here in the "7 steps to Cannabutter" thread - I do use boiling. I have also used other methods but I think that one is the best.

Well I dont think its the boiling that ruined your canna butter.

Last time I made some I boiled for at least three hours straight at a reletively hard boil. I use a lot of water. I keep checking the plant matter with the 30x microscope until I see that all of the trichomes have been realeased.

After thirty minutes of light simmering I saw none of the glands had really been removed. It wasnt until after several hours at a hard boil that I could see all glands had been released. And no, they were not destroyed, the potency was definetly captured in the butter.

The recipe we usually go by here is
1oz plant matter to 1stickbutter to 24 servings

I also feel free to bake at any temperture with out fear of losing potentcy.

My product has never been the least bit weak. The goodies are always very strong and very trippy.

I believe once the cannabinoids have transfered into the fat they are no longer sensitive to heat degradation.
This theory is based on my personal experience. I always bring it to an extended hard boil and cook with high heat. My product has always been stronger this way. Next time I will do a side by side comparison.

dont make the butter unless you want to make several batches over a period of time. That way you can store it. If you plan on making one batch of cookies for example, all you have to do is brown the weed on a frying pan with the amount of butter the recipe calls for. I dont understand why people even bother doing the whole 12 butter thing unless you plan on making a shit load of cookies or whatever u are trying to make. Even if you were to brown the weed before every batch you made rather than doing the whole over night process it would still be more time efficent, you dont need a crock pot, you dont have to worry about boiling anything, nor will you have to worry about vaping it since you are setting it on LOW anyways. Please ask questions if this doesnt make sense.

actually sorry, i am wrong in a certain sense. I forgot i use kief and not leaf so i think i was assuming in my mind you guys did as well. If u are going to use leaf then maybe the budder is the way to go. just keep it on low at all times, a 2nd grader could do this no problem. If your budder was weak that means only one thing, it was too hot. Iv simmered my budder for as little as 25 min and still came out with really stoney budder. (with leaf material). I promise once you do it for the first time, it is a peice of cake. Pun?

dont use water at all. THC is fat solluble, use milk and butter, or make some hot chocolate like I do! just bring the buds to a light boil in milk, reduce heat and simmer for 50 minutes to a half hour

we like to simmer our butter on low in a crock pot on low for 10 - 12 hours and it has alwyes been a great exp.
i was lead to belive high heat will degrade thc

the best i can get from this is that someone misinterpreted directions. I boil water to make my butter but under the pan its all in (double boiler) lets you control the heat prevents burning of the weed, since its INDIRECT HEAT it is alot safer (for the weed)

The best part about using water while making butter, is that a lot of the flavors that make it taste "green" get dissolved into the water, leaving your butter tasting almost normal.

Last time i made brownies, i made 2 batches and i forgot to label them. i couldn't tell which was which, by taste or smell (and i like to think i have fairly discerning senses). I just had to wait to get high to tell.
