CHEW MARKS, help please any advice?

CHEW MARKS, help please any advice?

Ok well the PH was indeed low, I flushed everyone out with twice as much tap water to gallons per pot. They look better to me.

Then a nightmare. As I was working in the garden I noticed some chew marks on 3 plants! They are pretty bad anywhere from 25% to about 50% chewed all the way around. The outer bark is kinda gnawed on looking and have turned brownish.

Mice? Idk any ideas? Things are getting hectic. Looks like I am gonna lose some good plants maybe. Should I duct tape them up maybe? Please any advice guys?

you can save them m8

duct tape them , as well use hot paper wax and anoint the stalks another home made way is to put some garlic inside the pots as well to keep the bug's away but the hot paper wax will keep them out for sure

it's possible these marks to be from snails , as far as i know they love to chew cannabis

but these are heavy marks probably not from something microscopic in size

GL and don't give up

Good luck with your 1st homeboy... reminds me of me with all the stressing you are under.
multiple trips to grow store, etc. I personally switched from ph pens to test paper after all the trouble the pens were to keep calibrated. I buy a roll on amazon that's designed for checking human ph. it's range is from 5.5 to 8 and it reads well even when the nutes have some dye in them.

when you upgrade your light to 1000w you need to up the ventilation.
listen to the fans run in the store before you buy or you might be suprised to find that most of them sound like jet engines when they are on full blast.

i think times are tough in the hydro store world these days and if they don't want to plug in and test a fan and speed control try a different store.

I'd go postal on those mice, sticky traps near the plants maybe.

best luck!

Thanks guys! I actually and using the adjacent room which has a window AC to cool atm. I have a dayton blower 265 cfm dayton blower hooked up, open glass (bough a lense but i thought it was a yieldmaster 4 hood, turns out the glass is too small, its some kind of off brand hood) the door to my room with the AC stays open when blooming, the light is about 24 inches from the tops. It is enough to keep things manageable but I am going to invest in a better hood and do some pro venting next run.

I bought some mouse glue traps I plan to put them around the base of my plants tonight, I am gonna surround the stems with them. They are only chewing the 4 in the smart pots, I guess it is easy for the em to get up the sides. The lemon skunk in the 3 gallon nursery potted plants are untouched. (naturally these are the plants that appear to be behind in budding) :)

I couldnt find the hot pepper wax so I might order some, it looks handy to have around any way. I did get some large insect sticky traps too maybe they will help a bitwith bugs.

I saw a cool bug zapper with a black light as attractant, I wonder if that would work during the night cycle or if the light would throw off the bloom even though its black.

Now I am going to apply my tissue paper bandages and some duct tape to the chew wounds, hopefully they will recover, and hopefully these mouse glue traps catch the predator!

Its funny cuz my veg went so smooth, everything looked so good and I had to give away half my plants. lol. Now I'm like halfway through bloom and shit hits the fan... Hoping I can pull something out here!

Well I managed to get all the wounds wrapped with my patented Toilet Paper bandages. They did not dry in time so I will tape them tomorrow when they are dried up good. I completely circled the 4 plants in the 5 gallon smart pots with glue traps for mice. I hope it gets em cuz some of them branches they chewed the bark 50-60% around. I hope I save em... I developed this technique during veg when I was experimenting with LST and broke some nice branches.

Here is one of the bandaged wounds.

I want to tape them but I will wait until they dry.

Now some pics of the buds we are trying to save here!

And here is a decent pic for my crappy camera, working it out :biggrin:

Here is a beauty, I am about positive these clones are not sour bubble but in fact the ICE CREAM I first thought.

Fuckers got me again! They seemed mad too. One section of my T.P. Bandage was gnawed slightly, but none others, then I noticed he went under the bandage and gnawed halfway around the bottom of my stem. This plant might be toast. I am going to get some big planters to place the 5 gal smart pots in with smooth sides, hopefully they cant climb up them, I notice the lemon skunks in nursery pots are fine.

A beautiful plant, prolly dead for sure with that much chewed off the base... he seems pissed i covered up his fav chewing spot...

Ugh.

Maybe the mouse cannot climb up this way? The [plant he got this morning he looks mad! He chewed a little bandage off then got mad and gnawed off 60% fro mthe base fo the stem!

Thanks for the input Chunk.
I got 4 15 inch square planters, they fit perfect and have a lip turned down on the edge, set those on some milk crates, unless this bastard can jump 30 inches I don't see how hes gonna get up there. Glue traps and kill traps on the baseboards on the ground.

Anyone know a mouse poison that wont kill my dog?

On a positive note, fat Ice cream nugs starting to load up on trichs, made me smile, end of Aug for those I'm thinkin, if they last....

I am thinking I vegged the lemon skunk to much in those 3 gallon nursery pots, and since I didn't transplant before switching to 12/12... maybe that is helping to keep those nugs small, i hope she goes sativa and starts spitting out more pistils...

Mice have been at bay. I have some coat hooks around the edges and I tied up alot of tops to the ice cream ladies, they are looking nice, Ill get some pics this week.

My space is good for 10 plants, I have 11, I should just chop he odd one out but I am rotating my footprint to keep it, live and learn.

Well moving along! One thing I have learned it not to overcrowd my garden. The competition for light is whats causing half of my lemon skunk to be blah, two of them tucked in the back corner have now stretched to taller then my head, I'm 6'1, they have no bud structure just random pistils everywhere. 4 of them are getting good light and starting to develop well. Pics of them another day but for now I leave you with Paradise Ice Cream shots at day 42.

This bud is the same one from the last pic in post 27 :)

I am feeding Koolbloom liquid at 5 ml and 1/4 tsp strength dry koolbloom now. One more week of feeding then flush? Or two more weeks of feeding then flush? Paradise says they go 55-60 days but is that from first 12/12 or from first pistils? I am counting from the first flip.

looks good! I like to take samples at the times the breeder says but let some go for a few weeks longer and let my head decide. I think the estimate might be good for cash cropping but my buds stay till they are ripe. If you have good genetics 45 days might be enough to catch a good buzz. I'd cull a few nugs and sample that!

Don't tempt me chunky! I promised myself I would let it go to the end! All of the locally sourced sins here is usually always pulled early... Maybe one lill nuggy wouldn't hurt though hmmm... lol

I have 4 clones of the ice cream. One is all sticky icky the other 4 have fat buds but no where near the resin (these 3 were chewed on). It appears to have set them back as they seem a week or more behind my sexy lookin lady, however they are budding up like crazy now, natures supercropping? (I can only hope) lol

That top pic is one that god chewed on, nice looking bud production but no resin piling up like the bottom lady. She smells of fuel/burned rubber, but only if you rub her softly! :)

These will be going until they are swollen and silly looking with hairs retracting. :)

Oh yeah and some good news today!

Order Number: XXX (Order Sent in Full)

2 for 1 Killer queen redux on its way to me!

Hoping for a nice male to cross with my stinky ice cream girl!

P.S. Are these estimates from the flip to 12/12 or after bud setting begins? It looks like some breeders do it one way and some the other...

from flip. if you grew them from seeds the ones with no resin might be low potency. do you have a clone from each girl?

I'm growing out a bunch of new seeds and I've gotten plants in the past that looked and smelled like good weed but didn't get me buzzed till I concentrated it. It's way this is called HARD MODE baby! I'm fixing to pollinate some gals tonite. I got a dozen boys shooting their load as we speak and another 12+ growin' out the ball sacs....
he, he, hee.... I'm a pollen chucker now too......

Actually the 4 clones came from the same stinky mom! The stinky one is off to the corner and the others even get better light! I think its the mouse chewing set em back a week or so, the one got its stem chewed halfway around at the base, they are bouncing back though, watching close.

Ive got a new mom going, from the stinky one, and a few other clippings, (my cloning technique is suspect) lol. Just waiting for my killer queen redux to show muahahahahahahaha, hope I can find a good male in that 20 pack! Hopefully something nice comes from that!
