Here's some tips for you dude! : If your PH raises daily more than .5, its pretty likely your nutes are too weak,(have you got an EC meter?if not you need one, so you can see what the plant is asking for, more or less food etc).
PH-UP & EC Down means your solution is too weak
PH-Down & EC UP your solution too strong.
PH Stable EC Stable-your plants should be happy.
'For the most part' this is how we comunicate with our plants, they speak to you, you just gotta know how to listen/understand. Follow & Chart the Numbers & PH & then you know what the plant is asking for & what to do next.
You can run a grow without these digi meters but it makes it hard to understand what the plants needs are, so you see its pretty important that you get the correct equipment if you really want to know whats going on with your plants. This is really difficult with just a drip test kit, even if its a full spectrum one. I hope ive helped put you on the right road! If you knew these things already, was just checking~!

Yea I really need to buy the proper equipment so I'm not in the dark. I am using the General Hydroponics drip test. Do y'all have any recommendations for digital ph meters and ec? I've tried looking on Amazon but I'm just not sure what to get. The ones with the good reviews are pricey, but if that's what they cost, I don't mind paying it.

horticare ph pen costs about £40 buts its worth it and is an essential tool if growing in hydro, it will become your best friend alongside your ec metre which i would recommened a bluelab truncheon comes with a 5 year gurantee :)

hope this helps

peace

Round 2

Round 2

Long time no post :p. So I got two more of these Blue Mystics growing. I've been checking the PH every single day and they both have been doing very well -- even better than last time, imo.

One confirmed male today. Showed his sex hella early (this is just day 17 from germination!), but the pollen sacs were undeniable. The other plant is noticeably smaller and isn't showing yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Also got a little Easy Ryder sprout. Came in the breeder pack, so it should be legit quality. Says FEM right on the side of the pack :D

If the other Blue Mystic turns out to the male in a few days or whenever, I'll start up a Lowryder #2 and make a new thread when they show 'cause it'll be a freakin' while :). Still, having fun growing and would never have even gotten into it if it wasn't for the great resources on this site.

Just to update everyone: the other Blue Mystic turned out to be 100% male. I notified the vendor just to let them know and they apologized and sent some freebies my way.

Easy Ryder is doing well -- growing a bit slowly and I was worried, but then the roots must've hit the water ~Thursday night 'cause I've seen a ton of root growth over the last two days and she's looking good. Will post pics once she shows sex. Peace.

any update?

Sure -- I've been holding off until the Easy Ryder starting flowering so I had some fun shots to post, but here's a brief update:

Currently, I only have 1 Easy Ryder going at the moment. I'm 90% sure that she is female, but haven't seen a lot of pistil growth as of yet. She's really started to stretch upward since I fed her last.

Had a bit of a mag deficiency early on, which I believe was caused by pH being too low. I upped it a bit and that problem has disappeared. May have started to show a bit of a calcium deficiency in the last week, but I topped off the res (she was drinking a ton of water) and that seems to be going away.

I'll definitely post some pics when she really shows some fun stuff (I hope) later this week. She really seems to have loved the nutes -- I had to move the light up a couple of chain links twice this weekend!

EDIT: I will probably just started a new thread because this is not a Blue Mystic grow anymore.
