as growers we always laugh at stories like this but this is all too common. at the end of the day it's like the commissioner told the LEO on the show The Wire, "all i care about is dope on the table". i think i've figured out their value system as well.

if 1 lb is worth say $4000 and they assume it will be sold in oz increments to dealers for $300 per ounce and those buyers will sell 4 quarters at $100 ea to dealers and those buyers will sell it at $20 a gram the value is:

$4000 + $300x16 + $100x64 + $20x448 = $21,460 per lb! lol

Think they averaged weighed spider mites, deduced the number of spider mites normally found in "their" grows, and then extrapolated forward to 35 plants...

Plus the barometric pressure at the average bar where they will go after the raid...

I know it sounds like a lie 35 =300lbs....but weve all seen plants that yield 2lbs or more of cured bud . most bud loses about 75% of its harvest weight . add the stalk ,stems, and leaves and I dont think you would even kneed the root ball or dirt to get up to 8lbs each plant . Ofcourse the would had to have been 6'-7' and full

i know Tom Hill , BUTTE, and some other skilled outdoor growers get 10lbs per plant, but 1 of those plants would easily take up a 10x10 room, and they said 35 plants found in 2 rooms...

i haven't heard of too many people owning homes with rooms big enough to fit 17 of these... and if they do own homes that big, i highly doubt they need to grow marijuana in such bulk...

You guys all know how it works - the bigger the bust, the sooner the promotion.

When I was busted, I had a total of 1/4 lb smokable, plus 1 mother & 16 clones, plus about 24 seedlings just cracked indoors. Outdoors, I had 8 or 10 more, interplanted with garden veggies, trained to grow horizontally. The never found the outdoor plants, even tho they declared some old hollyhocks in my compost heap to be "marijuana."

They confiscated my light, fan, mylar, pots, soil & all, & I was charged with possession of >5 lbs but <50 lbs. Hah! All I can say is, those were some heavy seedlings, considering they were only 2" tall!

BTW - the cops never confiscated my Thai soup pot which was busy evaporating some nice hash on my fireplace hearth... Duh!

Hindsight being 20/20, I shoulda asked for everything back when the charges were dropped...

I wouldn't be surprised if the amount of federal funding received by the LEOs is based on the amount of "weight" they take off the street. So they grossly exagerate the weight in order to receive more taxpayer dollars and to make it look like they are busting hard criminals.

Buddy of mine got raided a couple weeks back, legal medical grow (was the day after SB420 was struck down) and they claim they took 60# of wet plants out of his house. I think once he countersues for the return of his meds and plants, they will have to pony up 60# X $4K, hopefully enough to interest a lawyer in a pro bono case! Ought to be enough to bankrupt this small town PD for sure.
