1989 Super Skunk F4

If Sam says he bred Super Skunk I will believe it. @Sam_Skunkman did you?

If Sensi includes it in their official description I might believe it.

But if freelance writer, video producer, and media consultant Danté Jordan, aka Buzz Lightskin, aka Hike Tyson, aka Teddy Penthegrass just casually mentions this with no source in a blog post called "11 Best Indica Strains", even if commissioned by Sensi, I'm inclined to believe it may be incorrect.

Since when has Nevil being behind Super Skunk even been questioned? Even earlier in this thread it's said that the F1's were made by Nevil.

33-year-old Nevil after selling his company to Ben Dronkers surely would have had the time to hit an Afghan clone (AfgT, a "Maple Leaf" from Jim Ortega) with some Skunk #1 (Sam) pollen. Wasn't it actually his job? The thing he was busy with...

The reason people use MNS forums for info about Nevil's work is that it is the one and only place where he posted publicly. Why is that so funny?
Breeding is not to hit female, its to grow progeny and see if desired traits are locked in seed line.

Still i think that Sam was doing breeding and Nevile was guy that make marketing and sell seeds. At 1st.
Im waiting Sam to answer....qotes are funny I think Hempy posted them all and shurley not 1 time.

If sk1 is fruty and spicy, and maple leaf is sweet and hashy....

How can super skunk be lemony and musky/skunky...????
Maybe that is lemony afghan by Sam which that Nevile from Mr. Nice hate crossed to sk1 pollen.... ??
Do you have more qotes or infos ?

Ps. Im not mad or anything but when see these qotes that unaskble truth it like bull that see red flag.🐃😃

Well yeah I cut him off short but in the same quote he continues..
Nevil@MNS said:
AfgT had a sister, AfgS. This was a sweeter version than the T. It was, however AfgSxSk1 that produced the strongest specimen. This one plant AfgSxSk1 was awe inspiring. It tasted like a Hash Plant with real depth an quality. Strong, strong, strong! I had crossed this plant back to Sk1 and then to SS. This is where I'd be looking to resurrect the best of Maple leaf. In general, plants with AfgS in it's make up should be crossed with AfgT line plants. Sooner or later, throw backs will pop up. As I've said before, I believe, bases on similarity of types and smells, that the Maple Leaf strain is the Afghan behind the original skunks.
I wonder if Shanti has used lines containing AfgS?
So there was variation in the Afghani/ML he got from Jim Ortega. Maybe the "T" plant wasn't so sweet and hashy? Even if it was, genetic recombination can result in in surprising children that are unlike either parent sometimes.

What does haze or cheese have to do with I don't know ...
For some people Nevil created everything , for others Sam created everything, who created haze x skunk? Sam
Who created super skunk? Nevil
I don't believe in sensiseeds, I don't believe in mr.nice ....

Shiva Skunk and Cheese are related for sure both being from Sensi in the late 80's.

No NL listed in the close relatives on Phylos for Cheese.

The general consensus of Cheese being pure Skunk #1 instead of NL5 X Skunk #1 may well be correct. But Shiva Skunk is plausible too based on the timeline and Phylos not exactly being perfect.

There's a thread about Cheese's history here:

Last post of the thread also mentions Cheese-like qualities of Shiva Skunk...

98% genetics we have today are being given from Sam and sold through various seed banks from 1984" till today...thats the point of my conversation...

Most funny thing is that I grow Shiva and saw this by my eyes....what is funny that people chasin s1 of cuts while you still have same genetics to look for.
That is what is funny if you ever grow shiva skunk you would know that....but lots of people know that Sensi goes down by qote of Nevile and not by their expirience.

Nah these complaints started years before Nevil showed up online. And initially they were all personal experiences. Can't blame it on him. Almost certainly they had some issues at least at some point, most commonly attributed to issues with outsourcing production to Spain. Hopefully they've sharpened up since but the damage to their reputation is done, hence the secondhand warnings we see nowadays.

Too bad the grow journal stopped, I was curious to see what would have done those plants. Super Skunk is one of my favorite strain from Sensi Seeds, I've grown many of those seeds outdoor and indoor. The outdoor plants at lat44 were grower's dream come true, strong structure, healthy, vigorous and big yield of sparkling pungent buds, ready around 5-10 October. It wad my absolute favorite for a long time, I miss smoking those strong smelling buds who had a high I really loved, you could smoke it the morning and it was energizing or smoke it to go to sleep depending on phenotypes and it was like if the high transformed in what you wanted it to be.I think I'll buy a few seeds of Super Skunk from Sensi to see by myself what they have to offer today. They are cheap so it won't hurt too much if it's not up to what I expect, 1 or 2 plants will be in my next round I think.

I suggest you regs cuz if they had original parents like they claim. Only real original genepool is this. If you s1 cut it bit different.

what superskunk is sold at sensi these days? an f1 using original stock? or is it i.b.l ? or do they make new batches of f1s using different parents over the years? and with all the different breeders that work there , they will be different each batch . different visions and tastes. Seed companies do not verify much. it's nice to know what generation the seeds are , what the parents used were etc. i think sensi is more money motivated. i have no problem. i have had some amazing plants from sensi seeds in the past and some shit ones also. One of my favourites was a shivaskunk pheno similar to exodus cheese but i thought was more complex and better and just as loud. Superskunk i had in Bern switzerland in 2000 , grown in greenhouses in the alps that i bought from a "tea" shop was one of my favourite all round smokes i have had.the good old days, when the grow shops in switzerland were open front shops with stack and racks of clones to buy , lots of superskunk too

That's why I chose not to grow original haze .... LOL
I have no problems with you, we probably have different points of view on some things, I followed your Jack Herer cultivation, and I have to congratulate you, it was great, and HONESTLY I'm glad sensiseeds is recovering, but it's not Nevil's fault that she's gone down over the years.
I've spent a lot of money myself on Sensi, MNS, GHS, WOS, TFD and know the difference between some bad pheno and some throwaway packages ...
You are not the first to tell me that in recent years SS has improved, I have no idea how they have recovered the parent plants but that could be good news ...

I had the pleasure to taste Swiss grown weed in the Alps for the 00/01 winter, it was some very good buds. They had to stop the legal scene because of too much people from neighbor countries coming to buy weed I think.
Me too, it was a golden era of weed in Switzerland and country around...

About cheese, i never tried it, but many time ago someone told me it was skunk kush (or skunk kush x skunk)...

I’m quite sure UK Cheese is pure Sk1 and you can find similar traits in some other SK1 hybrids from Nevil

From growing 10 UK cheese S1 females from GHS, I think it’s mostly Afghan-Columbian side of SK1, not alot of Mexican in it. Haven’t seen mexi-traits in the few UK Cheee hybrids i’ve grown either, thou i’m sure you can find those traits if you grow enough seeds.

I’ve grown so many musky cheesy Skunk-hybrids in recent years that i start o be abit bored of it.

:::::

The Super Skunk from White Label looks pretty good from the photos. Haven’t bought any seeds yet but i’m keeping it in mind.

@GoatCheese I think the Sensi Seeds and White Label Super Skunk are the same, I might be wrong but it would be easier yo have only one seed line sold with 2 different names rather than doing 2 versions of the same genetics. I've searched for recent grow journal of Sensi Seeds strains and I've seen some impressive results on growdiaries and youtube.

Nevil bred super skunk, he had already made it even before he made it for sensi infact afew years before. The afghan-t parent sam has never had or had acces to. Nevil also bred the original jack herer clone an was the only person who acces to the original seeds it came from.....that cutting was already calle silver haze before sensi got any of his plants....an when in jail it was sold to sensi an he got back an worked at sensi the cutting still retained the name silver haze...he was around the plant while sensi had it for over 3 years before ben deceided to rename it jack herer an unveil it at the cup....
Another thing white rino is a half sister of the original ultra skunk/super skunk....both sharing the afghan-t cutting...
Killer white rino pheno

Cheese comes out of seed found bought in 1988/89 brought from sensi smile shop..nevil hadnt even given them 5sk yet but was giving them his version of skunk#1 ....he might have been giving them his afghan skunk (different version to ultra skunk) aswell the one used later by mr nice crew in the breeding of the shit
Anyway the super skunk look great...a lot of resin on them....nice

I bought Skunk #1 from the SSSC catalog. Growing weed was top secret back in 1980s. I was worried getting the catalog. Then I was lost about what strain to buy. I actually called them from the USA and ask to talk with Nevil. It was Nevil that answered and he told me so. He ask about my latitude, what kind of high I liked and suggested Skunk #1 and Pluton 2. He said Sk#1 was ready 1st week of October and Pluton was ready mid September. He told me not to worry the seeds would be discreetly sent. They came in a envelope with his country's addy on it. Amsterdam or whatever. If I would have thought about that I would have been freaking out. I got them though. I talked with Neil about 20 minutes. I forget what the phone bill was but my wife was not happy.

The Pluton mold like crazy and I never got a harvest. The Sk#1 didn't finish until late October. I let them all make seeds together. Eventually I started just making seeds with the plants that had lime tipped leaves and would get big yellow fan leaves that the catalog said were not a deficiency. They were the best tasting, smelling and most potent. They were not sweet. They were dank and skunk. I grew them every year in the wilds for 20 years or so. Eventually I stopped getting ones with lime tipped leaves. I didn't know about clones. I lost some fantastic plants.

Anyhow the catalog said that Skunk #1 was originally bred by Sacred Seeds. That is Soma isn't it? Not Sam. Just a thought. Does not really matter to me.

You can see the original description in the SSSC Catalog.

Nevil didn't try to take credit for it. Nevil was a very nice, friendly guy to talk too. I like the way the catalog would rate how strong a strain was by how many joints Nevil could smoke and still ride his bike.

After seeing the yellow tips and yellow fan leaves I used to wonder if 1974 Columbian Gold was a Skunk #1 early variant with all yellow leaves. The Skunk #1 yellow tip phenos were almost as potent as Columbian Gold. Maybe an all yellow one was Columbian Gold. But then I read they use to ring them or spike them to make them yellow.
