That isn’t the truth . I just spoke to NL Greg ..He told me himself Herbie Nelson is the breeder . He gave the cut to the Indian .. Not trying to be a Richard but these facts are important to me , as are any and all people who had the passion and dedication to make an important part of cannabis history .. Those my friend are facts from the man’s mouth ..:tiphat:

Facts.

Nev got the 5 clone from the Indian and the other NL lines were seed from Greg and crew. Once Greg realized he got the clone from the Indian all seed/clone sending/trading to the Netherlands stopped from their crew. That’s why he used NL1 in his 5 line.

It’s pretty black and white as to what is what, it’s just that people don’t want to believe it.

I finally got started on some of bodhi's rare release of BCSC NL 5 open pollenation, has anyone tried any of these? Any pics?

The original breeder of NL5 was Herbie Nelson , a cross of half Hawaiian and Steve Murphy’s Afghani .. I talk to Seattle Greg frequently , I got the info directly from him yesterday . It’s fairly common knowledge .

Truth...and it was originally called Northern Lites...until Nevil’s cousin changed the name in the catalog to Northern Lights.

Have a Nirvana Northern Lights at nearly 4 weeks flower, plant on the right. Just thought I'd throw it up here.

That main cola is gonna get fat as F

I liked the Nirvana NL I ran outside a couple years ago. Not fancy or loud, but just nice classic smoke. Seems as stoney as some of the Scooby Snacks and newer stuff I’ve gotten from dispensaries lately

Nice

Didn’t know Bodhi offered a straight up NL5 seedline, sone interesting variation between those two

He only released a few packs quite a few years ago, it was an open pollenation of BCSC NL5. He said there is a wide range of phenos to be found, tall, small and even some purple. I've been sitting on these seeds for a while finally got around to them.

Interesting thread. Ive been on a mission lately to track down old seedlines and strains and attempt to get my hands on those genetics. You know... since so many of them are getting lost due to intensive hybridization these days.

So if I wanted to try to track down the NL #5 in seed form today, what line would you guys recommend? Where would one start looking??

Sounds like Bodhi’s release is long gone. Melvanetics? Empyrean seeds?? Any suggestions???

If you can't find any let me know, I'm making f2's and hybrids with mine and don't mind sharing. I'm using NL male on breeder Steve's sweet pink grapefruit and Sam skunkmans orig haze x skunk

NL5 is a classic, but my favorite representation will always be that Collins Cough or "C1" that came from NL5xHaze beens from the SSSC.

In 2009 or 2010 an ICMag user popped up out of nowhere and delivered me that clone along with the Pineapple Cough. Those cuts didn't escape the Lake County fire that ended that era for me and thus never made it into OR rec.

That cut has to still be out there.

That NL555 looks like it would be worth a hunt.

Yup I’m trying to score a pack from them too, both those sources look like they are worth sorting through.

Great thread I didnt realize the NL5 was still floating around, certainly not in a seed line. Theres been a lot of old school genes popping up lately. Pretty pumped about getting a chance to work with these genetics from the past.
