thanks for the advice yall...the spiders will stay! i guess come harvest time il have to hit them with some water because i dont want webs all over my nugs....most of them havent build webs near the nodes just on the perimeter of the pots and on the cages used for the trellis.....so many different species of spiders too white ones brown ones black ones big ones small ones....and lizards all over the place too...and dont get me started on the giant cricket cockroach alien looking things those things are horrific...

the cold weather always seems to make them go away and nature takes care of the webs, kinda. we obviously dont want our buds all webbed up. i can say for years i have welcomed these creatures, even helped them out a little and i haven't noticed any negative affect on end product.

note: when doing interior pruning, wear thick gloves. black widows like cannabis and they will fuck you up. :artist:

me and the partner had our first disagreement....what to do about the spiders. not spidermites...regular old spiders from daddy long legs, small jumping white wolf spiders, and a bunch of other scary looking things have been making webs on alot of the trellis and from the smartpot bases up to the lower branches...

i say kill them...he says keep them. i secretly destroy their webbing when i do water duty im sure they come back...maybe without the webs they are forced to prey on the spidermites..who knows, all i know is that it makes pruning the interior branches a little less appealing because they love to hide where the branch meets main stalk..

the plants are interestingly free of spider mites and most insects in general...ive seen a few of my friends gardens that have more of that....i was expecting to see the spider mites become a serious pest but they havent shown up just on one or two that we nuked with SNS17....contemplating another spraying right before they go into flower, maybe with neem oil, i have floramite on deck but id rather not if i dont have too, want to keep this as organic as possible..

Sup bro.. I've found that, between my 1x/wk brix mix foliar, and 1x/wk spinosad foliar the mites were kept at bay pretty well just from the constant attention the plants got.

My attention now is on caterpillars... safer cat killer every 6 days or so last season didn't produce one cat come harvest.

good lookin on the advice yall.....real happy because just got word that we closed on a new property in mendocino! 2 private acres with 3 bedroom house and a nice space for 25 200 gal smartpots for next season......different partner than my butte county friend but my mendo guy has 10 years experiance growing organic fire in mendocino...plus only an hour away from a few of my mentor outdoor giants here on IC mag gonna kill it next season!

also still got plans to do the butte county plot again in 2012 with my original partner and am looking at another property in butte county tmro that is has lots of potential...gonna double up next year 2 outdoor plots with a share of around 10 smartpots on each plot so real excited cant wait until 2012...but first gotta stay focused on 2011 and the current grow...peace yall!

Word to the Motherfuckin streets. You've got some good karma bro. I've watched some gardens thrive up in Mendocino. Really nice and chill up there. The best advice I can think of when doing 25 plants is to start from seed. They are so vigourous and the trunks get almost as big as a soda can depending of course. Ive watched my friends garden for 3 years now up there and this year they will get 120 pds off 25 plants in my estimate as opposed to the 53 they got last year. They dug holes in the ground this year and started from seed and the plants are nearly twice as big. In year's past they did clones. Good job man

damn 120 off 25 thats insane....some giants. my friend at this mendo spot gets a religious 5 lbs per plant on clone strains in 200 gals last year he grew cherry pie and bubba kush...this year he grew some seed strains of a cross called Triple Threat very vigorous growth they are a nice 8-9 feet tall but not as bushy as my 6 footers.....il keep in mind about the seeds and figure out what to run as i got a fridge full of nice genetics.....really a big fan of the LVPK wanna get a bunch of those next year as well...thanks for the kind words

I know I'm probably being optimistic saying 120 lol but well I guess Im just throwing that number out there for them. Heck if they even get 75 Id be impressed with the increase.

more pics from today....did a shitload more undergrowth pruning today...wish i got on this earlier because it sucks dropping lower branches that look like they might yeild decent weight....alot of branches pointed south that are in the dirt lol, gotta cut everything out....live and learn next year gonna prune them all when they are much smaller and more manageable..

LA con in forground, smallest in garden probably only 1lb each

picture.php

SFVOG in front left, mix of Cherry Pie and SFV in background...SFV has really nice structures outside way more nodes and branches really easy to train...

picture.php

picture.php

LVPK on left and SFV OG on right so you can compare the two...lvpk already looks a few weeks into flowering...SFV still lagging

picture.php

LVPK around six feet including the base...

everything is looking nice and green they seem to like the earthjuice alot, the couple gallons of fox farms grow big they devoured in veg/preflower might have helped too......our water comes out tap at like 7.5 to 8 ph and the EJ balances it out nicely to the proper PH...we feed every watering but 1/3 waterings have higher PPM...2 waterings are just lightly fertilized with EJ to balance PH...

flowering in full effect....having a slight problem with thrips and spider mites so did a big spinosad spraying....releasing a bunch of lady bugs as well in a few weeks when the sprays have to stop..

SFV --> LVPK

cherry pie in the back corner my 3rd favorite in the garden so far..

picture.php

My two favorites in the garden...on the left SFV and right LVPK...you can see the big difference in them...the SFV has way more branches and colas with smaller profile, while the LVPK has fewer tops but they are looking to be very heavy...its gonna be interesting to see how they compete in terms of final yield..

SFV lots of tops, reminds me of indoor SOG
