nice grow there GB420, nice buds. i bet that is going to be some sweet smoke!!!. quick question for you and anyone else. how much penetration do you get with the 150?

well right now im running 13 on and 11 off. i want to run through these girls so i can put this big baby in. sorry for poor quality...
will probably be a month from now, but thats better for me. i just added a 42w cfl in my veg cab, which brought me up to 103w in the veg cab. i also have too many plants right now, and not enough flower space for them. i was thinking of keeping the big one as a mom, and do a 12 plant mini SOG.

Id for sure get a all in 1 unit. i know Sun System makes a all in one unit for $80 or so. I got a sun system 150w hps and it was a better choice then the one with the remote ballast.

dr40 is small tent, if you get all in 1 there are lots of chances that soon you'll decide to take that unit apart and remote ballast because of heat problems... 150w bulb has pretty shallow penetration and your tent is slim tower... not the best combo...

I bought a Sun Systems 150 and ended up tearing it apart and remote ballasting. Not only for reducing heat in the grow chamber but so I could position the bulb for better coverage of my footprint since my grow area is a rectangle.
For you I would just get a cheap 150 hps and remote ballast it. You can find them for $50-60 bucks if you look around for a good deal.
It would probably be best to do vert 150 in there and train the plants around the bulb in a circle. I found no need for a cool tube with a 150 so I took it out and put in a wire mesh cylinder to keep the leaves off the bulbs.
Something like this with the bulb hung vertically and the wire mesh cylinder cage around the bulb with a 120mm pc fan attached to the bottom blowing upward at the tip of the bulb. Helps control heat around the bulb with the fan and keeps the leaves off the bulb with the cage.
First it was like this with a glass cylinder.
Ended up deciding it didnt need the glass and used the mesh screen.
Put several plants around the bulb or use less plants and train the branches around the bulb.

It works well. The zipper is still going strong on it. Thick canvas construction. Only bad thing I can think of is that I wish one of the 6" duct ports was on the bottom so you could intake on the bottom through that and exhaust out the top but I have intake coming through near the top seems to actually work better than I thought it would. I got mine for $58 then they upped the price a little bit not sure how much they are now but its a perfect tent for a 150 or a 250 hps.
Has 2 6" duct ports about 2/3 way up the sides and 2 4" ports on the bottom rear corners.
Like any tent it isnt 100% lightproof so you would need to cover it with something like a thick blanket or keep it somewhere that is dark during the lights out period like I do in my closet.

those are the ones that got a little over vegged though and started 12/12 at 6" or so. I've marked starting heights on all plants to figure out the proper height for each stain to hit that 'sweet spot' . Stretch has really slowed up on the plants that are taller then the level of the bulbs btw.
