14 days into flowering , some issues with leafs

Im 14 days into flowering and i noticed some issues today . the leaf tips dont looks well ? and some of the leafs are turning to the right.

Im using advanced nutes, setting ph at 5.8 to get runoff of 6.0

I feed one day then 2 days later i will plain ph water them .

my temp is around 72 degree and humidity is around 42%

what do you think ?

I think I found out what my problem is , I has to be a ph issue. I set my nutes for 5.8 and my runoff came out at around 8.0 so i set my ph again for 5.0 and i got the runoff to 7.0( still too high). so i clearly have a ph problem . is it ok to keep on setting my ph lower and lower to get the right runoff or do i need to do something else like flush and them start again with run off checks . The confusion i have is why did my ph get so high? does this mean i need to flush again ? I was also told today that i may be making my nutes way to hot . im at like 1000ppm , the hydro store guy says i should stay around 700ppm.

Man this learning curve is tuff , I need a more stable way of growing , I cant stand these huge ph swings . maybe its because i suck ?

yes it's because you suck...jk Also it's not really a learning curve unless you learn it before you use it...at this point it's more like a "winging it" curve, which, yeah, it's pretty steep, you need to read in depth about all of this stuff or the chances of failure go way up...

as for nutrients, what are you using and how much, many nutrients have double strength mixing directions on the back, you definitely don't want that, if any of the npk numbers are in the 30's or near it then it's probably a double dose direction on the back, even with average numbers (mines like 7-15-14), i still only recommend half a dose of that. so if you are using something like miracle grow at full strength your plants are getting a quadruple dose. however we can't help if you don't tell us what you are using and how much of it.

i will say that if you ran neutral water through and it came up at an 8(which is bad!), your ph is way out of wack, excessive nutrients usually make the soil more acidic(lower number), so i'm wondering if thats much of an issue at all, also aside from the tips of your leaves they look healthy so it could very well be just a ph issue(though over ferting can look like that too).

what kind of soil do you use? most peat products are naturally acidic so it's often said that it's best to water around 7-8 to counter the ph of the soil. i use fox farm soil and i water with ph 8 tap water when they get plain water and around 7 when they get nutes, the nutes are what correct the ph slightly though, i don't use ph up or down unless my runnoff is out of wack, which it hasn't, and ive been using the same soil for 3-4 runs now.

with a runnoff ph of 8 you gotta wonder what it's like inside the soil, probably even higher, there is almost no doubt that your issues are ph based, at that level you would see several key nutrients locked out from being used by your plant.

I have been reading for many many years 15yrs but never ever had many grows under my belt, but reading and doing are two different things.
I use sunshine mix #4( They consider it a soil less medium no admendments)
I am using advanced nutes micro grow bloom and some of the additives
I mix the advance nute as they say to on the online nute calculator. I am at about 1000ppm .

My ph has been not too bad for all this time , I have been setting my nutes at around 5.5 to 5.8 to get a run off of 6.0 to 6.3 and that has been working good until yesterday but yesterday i did 5.8 and my runoff was almost 9.0 so i was way confused on why/how that could be . I am thinking maybe my last few flushes may have not been good enough and maybe over time even though i have been flushing i have a salt build up that creeped upon me to a almost toxic level and cause a ph issue and cause ph related leaf issues ? I am going to flush with 5.8 later today( friday) , take a run off and take a ppm reading and see where they are at . i figure if my ppm are close or higher than what i last fed at 1000ppm it might be a salt build up. i was also told that i dont have to use full strength nutes like the nute calculator says too, less is more by what the hydro store guy told me today he told me i could bring it down to like 600-800 ppm and be just fine . he also told me it would be a good idea to use a salt build up flushing liquid from botanicare , it would help remove salt build up and to use at least 5 gallon per my 4.7 gallon planters .

Thank you

lol you know i was teasin ya man,

salt buildups would make your soil more acidic, as in they would lower your ph number, if you have been feeding ok and checking your ph often i cant explain why it would jump from 5.8 to 9 in under a week... thats just weird, especially because sunshine mix is peat based, and would naturally bring your ph down as well...

I absolutley know your were teasing. stuff like that would not bother me anyway .. I did find today that my ph meter was off a bit . I checked it with 7.0 ph solution and it came out at 8.2 so i did an adjustment today . so i guess being i set my nutes the other day at 5.0 and my runoff at the end of working on it ended at 7.0 so that would mean my ph is really at around 6.0-6.2 because my meter was off . So my ph meter looks like it was giving bad readings, but still my ph was a little bit higher than i normally see. I'm going to hold off on my flush until tomorrow and then i will do a watering at 5.8 and see what my run off is at .. once again no worries about busting on me . there was not even alittle bit of any offense taken. I know you were just busting me up. Hey i deserve it anyway , LMMFAO

Thanks man

Happy New Year ! 2012 . omg another year just faded away !

I get what your saying. everytime i water , I think i do it at the right time the pot feels light and the soil edges are starting to shrink in a little away from pot , if i use the moisture meter the meter is ay that its time to water the pots that still feel heavy the meter says its not time to water so i think im on the right track when it comes to watering. I di dfind out my ph meter was off 2 point . since i found that out my planst are much better off except one plant the leaves are looking not the best with yellow tips and margins yellow and in middle of leaf still green. I cant fix it so far i am just happy its stillalive and flowering ...but its sister different pheno type same strain is doing 100% great . its wierd that one plant out of two of same strain is not 100% happy
