1200W Build

Germanator

Member
No wall this time, just a room and a German...

Hoping to get some insight as I build so if you have it let me hear it.

2 X 600 W on light movers (air cooled) *will need help here*
CD3 propane gen.
9,000BTU portable AC
Soil as medium in 5 gal bags
Strains

This will be put together over the next 3-4 weeks. Hopefully when my veg plants are ready to be put into flower the thing will be done. I have most of the hardware now just have to pick up some accessories.

This is by no means a "final" build, as I am low on funds I'll have to build as I can.

Be easy,

Germ

Alright, got a couple more things to pick up, but things are progressing. Got the biggest shelf unit I could find at HD and set it up. Currently have 2 shelves with T-5s on each. The top shelf will be for propagation in the future. The veg space will be TIGHT! But, I've spent the better part of 3 years working in an extremely confined grow space, so it will be a efficiently used.

I've got a diverse lineup of nutrients for this new room. And after the new space, that has got to be the most interesting part of this build...because working out a feeding schedule on a budget is not easy.

Nutes will look like.
-FFOF as medium, cut with perlite and with a base of hydroton rocks.
VEG - Liquid Karma
- Vegan Compost Tea (GH)
- PBP Grow
- Superthrive
- Rhizotonic
- Cal Mag
- Sweet
--Mycrorizae top fed
--- Seaplex foliar fed

FLOWER - PBPBloom Soil
- Cannazym
-Cal Mag
- Liquid Karma
- Sweet
- Dark Energy
- Super Nova
- Boost
-- Seaplex foliar fed
---Leached with Clearex

Added Purple Kush and a tried and true BUBBLEGUM! I will always love Bubblegum as it was the first cannabis plant I ever grew.

Have to pick up the extension cord and a couple other things and then the room can get started.

Be easy,
Germ

Rock on brother. Looks like you have a good plan here as well as some nice genetics.

Make with the pics!

Quick fix...

One of the least expensive trips I've ever taken to HD for a build

T-5s burning

Larry, left - ECSD, right

Bubblegum (SS) left - Purp Kush, right

Running the extension into another room is next...

Ran the extension cord for the AC unit. Thinking being I can pull more power from the one in the room. Since you are not supposed to run HID lighting more than 15ft. I figured I'd take the next biggest piece of equipment (AC) into another bedroom. Anyone see a problem with this? Or, have any experiencing running an extension like this?

Cool thread.

What's the amperage draw of the A/C unit, the length of the extension cord, and wire gauge? Is there much other load on that breaker?

Thanks Billy, Ooga Booga. Couldn't find the amperage draw on the box. Extension cord is 100ft 12 G. The load on the breaker it runs to is virtually nothing. It runs into my office which has little more than an alarm clock, ipod dock and a CFL.

See any problems here?

What's the BTU (and if possible, EER) rating on that unit? What's the actual cord distance between outlet and A/C (i.e., how much slack left)? The wire gauge (#12) is definitely good, but would a shorter cord be possible?

I don't see any real problems... I think it could be better but maybe not really worth fishing some wiring and rewiring sockets.

Im on the same wave length as ooga booga,,is it possible to just cut off
the excess extension cord and re-wire the male end back to it!?
Just a suggestion!!
Lookin good so far

There is maybe 15ft left on the extension. It is a 100ft cord and I'm not sure if I saw anything at HD in the 85-90 ft range. I could rewire the cord, but that can be done later...9,000 BTU.

I'll be flying home tomorrow and will be away from my grow for over a week. In the meantime this thread will allow me to communicate build details to my roommate, who is taking on the daunting task of trying to work on this thing without me there...good luck buddy, keep me posted.

Hey Germanator, I left for work at 1:30 pm and I arrived home today at 10:52 pm and everything was off. What time are the timers supposed to be off??? It seemed as though they turned off early. What should I do???

Hey Germanator, The pots seem heavy...might wait another day to give them water. What do you think? What day should I give them nutrients? Might hit up HD today. Wish me luck...Oh...I almost forgot to mention...I topped a grip of those Larry's today. :bashhead:

The timer likely get set back a few minutes when I hooked up the 8 socket surge protector, not a big deal as it is set for 18 hours on...just make sure you don't have it exposed to any light around the time it is going off (don't be building around 10:45 - 11?)

Top the Larrys all you want, they will get incredibly tall without it in the time I'm gone. Lay off topping the bottom shelf, just concentrate on training them with the zip ties.

Straight water (Ph adjusted) next time. Then the following watering you give the nutes I wrote down.

Wait were they off when you left for work as well? Or just off early around 10:50? If they were off when you left something is wrong, adjust the timer if they are not on for the 18hrs...shouldn't be needed, as I checked it before I left.

Good to hear from you...Just as I suspected. I had a feeling that the timer was off set because of the transfer.
I woke up this morning and had the itch.
I lifted the the Larry's and S.D.'s and they seemed thirsty.
Then I lifted the Purps and the pots were heavy.
I went ahead and watered the top shelf and I think I'm going to water the bottoms when I get home later today. Is this a good ideas or should I water them simultaneously?

Wouldn't worry about it unless its coming from the new growth or spreading. Talking about the spots on the ECSD right? Looks like rust on a couple leaves?
