did anyone hear or see this on tv. 10 million pot bust in diamond bar. what an idiot the guy had 10 million worth of pot and he didnt even have a ventilation system. still i seriously doubt that it was the smell that was the tip off but rather someone he told.

but this is a great line from the article: that they guy bought the house to "use suburbia as a cover for major pot cultivation". lmao. man i wish this guy was my neighbor. of course before he was busted.

according to the news article it was a 22million dollar bust. and they claim 2000 plants. the video showed some flowering plants but it also showed a lot of plants that were still in veg.

22million- 2000 plants - thats roughly 11,000 a plant. Last i heard your average lb of dank was like 3-4000 dollars. lets say $4000 So the cops are claiming these guys were pulling 3lb per plant. WOW thats some awesome grow skills.

I love that the cops always go by the gram and just do the math from there(so it seems). I'd assume that they're giving this pot about $25/gram(this is basing it on the $22m figure). That would be about 880,000 grams, which is 1,964 plants(at 448 grams/lb). Considering the root space needed, even in hydro, to pull off an lb per plant, (keep in mind that I grow outdoors..in soil..so this is a guess here..) I'd say each plant needed at least 5 gals for root space, we're looking at about 9821 gallons. Let's say that you're running a pvc setup with 4" pvc(could be 6..but we'll go with 4. I tried to find out exactly how much 4" pvc was needed to hold a gallon, but I'm just going to use a 2 litre coke bottle as reference. It's about 4 inches wide). There should be a gallon per 1.5 foot or so. This would mean they would need over 14,000 feet of 4" pvc pipe in order to hold enough root space to get that much yield. That's 121 feet x 121 feet of NOTHING but pvc pipe. Hmmm...

Assuming that this guy can actually get 1 gram per watt(which I doubt he's getting).
We'd be looking at 880 1kw hps(or mh..whatever..I'm basing this on my previous post). Another thing that I thought of is when the cops seize plants that haven't been dried, I'm not sure if they even take into consideration that they'll lose a ton of weight during the dry/cure. At close to 2,000 lbs(basing this on my other stuff. I'm only assuming this) wet, you'd easily be looking at about 750 lbs dry, depending on the dry/cure/trim method. Assuming that the cops ARE using the wet weight and going with $25 a gram(which is ridiculous in it's own right), we could knock that down to the low $ hundred thousands, if we rate it at $4k/lb and go straight up from there.

On a smaller scale, let's say you're running a room with 2 1kw hps growing an average yielder. Say you get about 2 lbs dry from this grow. Not that you WOULD sell it, but generally in most parts of the U.S, you could probably get around $7500 from it, but this could vary alot. Now, the feds decide to come in RIGHT before harvest and take everything. They weigh it and see that you have 7 lbs of "devil weed"(stems and all). That's 3136 grams of "highly potent marijuana"(that really isn't very potent anymore, considering that it's mostly leaf and stem..but the bud is solid). This end up being $62,720 at $20/gram. Sorry for all the math..it's fun, but there's ALOT of assumptions here, so take it all with a grain of salt.
