#1cheesebuds - Thanks! To have a tub thought of as a garden makes me smile.
cocogrower - Thanks! Scale? The pots are 2.25 inches wide and there is a gallon jug in the foreground of post 19's top pic. I will be sure to include objects in future pics. The pots are small, yogurt cup small. I am trying not to take samples off of a couple plants to get an idea of what can be done in this lil tub. I'll weigh them up when they are nicely dry.
The plant in the middle came it at a whopping 10.14 grams dry (no stems). I did take a couple samples along the way too. Not bad I think? This was in a 6oz pot under the single 80-90w led.
The moms are revenging nicely. I did lose a couple, but that is why I decided to try and re-veg all of them just incase of whatever. I also might want to re-run some of the re-vegged moms right away to get some herb from a known plant. I was able to re-veg the top plant, the haze mixed plant. I gave her special care and broke up the roots and transplanted her into a bigger pot. The panama no.3, the purple panama, was also put into a bigger pot. I did not break up her roots and she is re-vegging much slower than the haze.
In the future I think single stemmed short clones will be best. I am pretty happy with the grow space, but I don't know if will yield enough weed. I mean if I ran 8 plants it would only be 80-100 grams if it was the plant above. I am gonna try and run it like a tiny perpetual box until the best way presents itself. I have a indica plant in a larger test pot and a previously used 6oz pot. Along with the indica clones I have a mystery female that popped out of the coco when I re-used it.
Here is a pic from my old cab. This was a run with Rez's double strawberry diesel. I would love to run something like this again, only much smaller.
I hope to test out some hazey clones in a few weeks. Fingers crossed for fast roots!
20ml cns17 bloom (new formula)
.75g epsom
.5ml pro-tekt
I feed this to everything (flower and veg). The re-vegged plants are liking it. I was worried about the dose, but they are fine. I burned plants the last run going 25ml per gallon with the cns17.
I have a few experiments running in the tub to explore some ideas. Some experiments are older than others. The point is to find the best way to grow in this tiny space under a single led.
idea: big roots = lots of flowers - I found low profile square pots and gave one a try on a stubby plant I have not run before. I vegged her until she was over 3' tall, taller than the tub. I did top her along the way for a clone and to encourage bushing. A few weeks later I removed more than half the plant and put it into flower. She was only lower bush with roots for a much larger plant. So far I am happy with how she is growing and I have not had to do shit to train her. The plant stayed very short and made lots of plump flowers that are bigger than anything I saw my first grow. I am using a larger pot though, but this method might be best for fast flowering plants to keep the yield up. The only thing I don't like is that it takes up 1/4 of the tub and forces me to keep the light at the highest position. This plant should be done in a few weeks. I just started flushing it and will take pics when the color kicks in.
idea: the tiniest sativa - This has been the idea from before the tub was made and a week ago I started it. I put 5 "haze dom" aka: Shanti Haze dom from a mixed pack X a mix of DJ Shorts f13, destroyer, and kali mist. Think haze with a hint of "blue". This was the best flavor and high from the last grow. She also grows like a beast so I am trying to grow these as small as I can to see what results I get. The next wave will be a bit bigger to explore that size. The clones were 2-3" tall a week ago and now they are a few inches taller. Can a 2" sativa clone with barely any roots in a 6 oz pot stay manageable and yield 5 -10+ grams? Stay tuned!
idea: bend me, don't break me: The idea is to take a clone and a plant from seed and to not top/de-leaf them. I am running these in the 6 oz pots. I did better with the clone than the from seed plant, it looks like an upside down "L".
I am running the tub in quarters for a perpetual grow and mini experiments. Each section is about a month behind the other. In a few weeks the tub will be at max.
Haze dom from the last grow (missing a few sample tops). Pot is 2.25" wide.:
I removed too many leaves and topped too much the last grow. Can you see why all of the "experiments" are low stress during flower? I like the idea of stressing the plants at just the right moment so they can grow best under the led. I just need to find the right moment for each plant.
the tiniest sativa update - week 2 (started 8/28):
Ok, so I ended up training them more than I wanted. I thought putting in clones with small roots w/o any veg would keep them short, but they went from 2"-to 7" pretty quick. All of the plants started to bush after I topped them. A week later the plants were stretching unevenly. The fix was to bend and tie down anything tall. I like the rubber bands because the plant's top will grow in a much tighter "U" shape and will stay short. It is much better than bending alone and another bonus is that I am not chopping them up a second time. I don't want them wasting energy anymore if I can.
Here is 1 of 5 in the tub. I only had to bend back 2 tops on her.
