1000w yield down

Hey thanks for the replies! They are new bulbs, I'm using glass not a cool tube, although I have used cool tunes with great results. My hoods are the giant 8" C.A.P. Ones I forget the name. My a/c unit says it has a switch that vents from the outside, I used the same a/c for 400s with excellent results. But I'm very open to that not providing enough ppm from the outside. I think it looks like I'm in the direction of new better bulbs and look into setting up an intake with a hepa filter or just using a portable a/c with C02. Anyone know of a good thread or site that explains best options for set up and usage of C02?

I've seen a couple people comment about the bulb being too close to the plants. Hm, if Im air cooling the bulbs and under the glass is 74 deg, why is putting the plants that close to the bulb bad?

Its not.... not bad that is since it is leaf temp that matters and not how hot a bulb is.

If your other grows were at another location that you are using for comparison then you changed alot more than just the light bulb tho and its a host of factors

I wonder if ballasts can loose their power over time but still fire the bulb ? I'm having issues with dim 600w bulbs and I'm thinking it may be the ballast? But it's purely based on stoner paranoia

that sounds like your capacitor is going. honestly.. replace those if u keep ballasts for a long time.. right now I'm running all new ballasts and bulbs.. can deff see an increase in growth..

and because.. light intensity can affect yield.. too much light can cause smaller dense weird buds..

like in a big SOG I always see a few plants right under the lights that have smaller buds than the ones just a few inches over to the side.

Really, ok that's a new one to me. Thank you. Do you air cool? If so how far do you keep your plants from the bulb?

I air cool in the summer.. run without glass in winter..

umm. depends on the plant. I usually get it 18-20 inches away. but sometimes more to get a better spread.

some plants enjoy being pounded with light. others don't. I have 1 strain that I can put in a room with a light mover .. 1000w. 20 inches away.. and have th emover running 5 feet.. and still get super dense buds and a great yield.. others I cannot even use a mover..

I'm actually using my mover now for veg.

Yeah true. Anyone want to suggest a bulb company that they felt got them a nice high yield. Curious what people out there are using

Glass on reflector made lower yields...

I have heard the glass lowers lumens about 15%. I have no choice, since using tents, and heat would be too much. The cooltubes vent out of the tent.

Bro i use Gavita 1000 DE in 5x5 tent, weed is great, terps are there and a yield can be over 1 g per watt easily...

Whithouth any cooltube or reflector with glass, you are right on glass data and things could be even worst than this 15% you mention.

Train them good, brake some "necks" and maintain
plants with ease even under 1150 W feature,no burns with Gavita
just dont veg plants for too long..

10-15 days max. from clones and then flowering time.

Kind regards Loc Dog :tiphat:

Yeah I hear ya glass lowers yield. I have gotten great yields off a cool tune long ago but that setup has passed. The reflectors I have now are what I'm going to be using for a little while, can't upgrade to DE yet. Just wondering what hps bulbs people are liking

Another thing to consider is your feeding.. with more light there is more need for nutrients... watering frequency goes up as well....

hortilux are the best.. period. .lol. buy online for a cheaper options.. and get them for 50-60 a piece instead of 120 at the ripoff hydro stores.

Ushio and Hortilux are about the same in my experience... Never did them side by side but my yield doesn't change much from 1 to another

Yep, agree 100 percent. U may not ever see that tho depending on your lights. I do get that tight response with some cultivars close to a Phillips DE. Close being 16 or 18 inches maybe closer. Have had plants that close and closer with no harm also.

Ok, so if I'm hearing some of you correctly I should keep my air cooled lights farther away than I have been 16-20 inches maybe. I put them close because I know the glass takes some intensity away and my temps were alright. You guys don't think I won't lose more light intensity keeping them farther away? You think I will get more yield 16-20 inches away?

Do you have any pictures? That would make this much easier.
