I think by then there will be a device that stimulates certain neurons.
Imagines a device that hits those perfect buttons of being high.
You can be high or drunks for as long as you want, then when you hit the "Off" button, you are good to go.

Well since reality is a manifestation of our imagination I'd say the future is what we make it.
That being said I hope the world wises up to some of its antiquated ideas that have been leading us down the wrong path. I think some new ideas are going to be needed, I think we will need new ways of building, farming, moving and providing energy. I'd like to see a more sustainable world.

Personal drones, the size of humming birds.
I am a dyed in the wool Negative Nancy. I think by 2025 we are going to wish we were back in the good ol' days of 2014. Hell, I would give my left nut to be able to take the 'blue pill' and go back to the 1980's right now.
By 2025 we will see;
-Artificial Intelligence, it will start good, I dont think it will end good.
-A nuclear device detonated within the US.
-Some new interesting viral outbreak. A super flu of some sort. Kills a bunch of people.
-Global financial meltdown should happen before then. No more USD!!!
-That will make something like Bitcoin the new standard. I think it will be 'based' on energy in the Watt sense and not computational sense.
If we manage to avoid all calamity before 2025 I would be amazed. However, if we managed this. I think there will be a sub-class of Americans that live like the characters in the movie Idiocracy. I am attending college right now (I am 31, using my GI benefits). The kids that I am in class with are so horribly ignorant to the world that surrounds them. It is funny to watch, but horrifying to think that they are the future.
In conclusion; We be fucked.

I think idiocracy will take a little longer to kick in then 11 yrs, you need few more gens of breeding stupid. I do picture this happening, but it will probably be close to 100+ years till you see the full effect.

I'm optimistic about the future. I'm jealous of kids growing up today. Little kids have tablet computers that are orders of magnitude faster than my first PC I got in middle school.
Kids growing up today will invent new technologies we haven't even thought of yet. Who would have thought 20 years ago that we'd all be carrying around tiny computers that will change our lives for the better? A little screen you hold in your hand can give you access to the total sum of human knowledge, and anyone can afford it. You can press a few buttons on a screen to hear pretty much any song ever recorded. Read pretty much any book ever written, learn more about any subject than you could ever learn at a library 20 years ago. Communicate with people anywhere in the world whenever you want, all from a little thing you hold in your hand. Kids who grow up with this kind of technology will take it to places we haven't imagined yet.
I'm not optimistic about politics, but I expect weed to be legalized federally in the US in the next 10 years. I expect some of the other prohibition laws to be relaxed or done away with too. Science will prove the numerous benefits of other drugs (specifically psychedelics and ecstasy), so the laws banning them will go away at some point.
I'll be pushing 50 in 2025 if I'm still around. Hopefully I'll still be growing and I'll still be working in the technology industry. Nearing retirement if everything goes well.
