Whats the easiest way to LST?

Howdy,

im looking for some ideas to make LST easier. For instance, sth. to plug onto your plant and tie it down without knotting all the time.

Hope you get the idea. :bashhead:

Spring loaded clothes pins work very well. You can use the part that yer supposed ta clip to the line on the tips ( without crushing or pinching the tip ) to pull em down, if it doesn't weigh enough, clip one er two too that. There's also a type of floral tape ( walmart craft dep ) that's rubbery and stretchy that works very well in conjunction with the clothes pins. If nothin else clothes pins and string. Hope that helps...later, BC

Maybe hooks out of metal hangers? Hook it over the limb and stick the shaft in the dirt. Velcro? I like ScROG. Anything grows above the screen, poke it back under. Keep poking it under until buds start to form and then let the buds grow above the screen.

$1 for elastic bands that goes on the pot for easy access to every direction
$1 for flexible twisty ties that you can easily use to tie down the branch, the other end you just slip under the elastic band
All at your local dollar store. No nails, no clips, no pins

I dont like touching the plant with anything metal or course. I had fishing line cut a plant in half once. My favorite way to tie a plant is with twine that has a noose tied at 1 end. This allows the part around the plant to expand as the plant grows.

Does supper-cropping count as lst?

Screw all that string and hooks or whatever; just crush some stems and be done with it.

supercropping works fine but usually looks like shit.
i like working with the plant, so i can give her the habitus i want plus they just look goddamn beautiful :)

I like to tie a loose knot just above one of the nodes and simply clip the other end to the side of the container using small office clips available at Office Max, Staples etc. Very easy to adjust. I use square pots, not sure how well it would work with round ones.

amen Bakelite. those have made it so much easier...almost too easy, i've gotten a little LST happy lately and I'm looking at some bushes

I used a soldering iron to melt holes in my containers and solid core copper wire for ties. It's cheap at radioshack, and coated in rubber. I make a hook at both ends and go from pot to, well, pot. It will hold the plants in place well, and since it is a hook, not a loop, there is no chance of choking the ladies.

The best item to lst with imo is garbage tie wraps. You just tie your plant to itself. Well not tie more or less wrap the wire around. It is a lot easier then tying knots and all that crap.

:yeahthats what I've been using for years you can even just buy the ties sometimes at a hardware store; the plastic coated ones work the best.

I drill holes all around the top of my pots and then tie yarn around the branches I want to train and then run the other end through one of the wholes and pull it until its bent how I like and then tie it off.
