FRIENDinDEED'S NYCD bagseed GROW: ALL ORGANIC BABY!!

well here is the next installation of grow from your FRIENDinDEED!!! This will be my NYCD bagseed grow diary, BUT my 2nd grow! And here are the culprits:


so far , as of 10/22/07 I transplanted 3 of the 5 to 1 gl pots..
by the time they get as big as i want them to, the new flower closet should be constructed.


they do look pretty though, already see those fat indica leaves. They looked kinda weird but I guess that whats to be expected of bagseed. Already on the third node and only 3 inches tall!!! Me thinks the cuts to be taken are going to be insane !!!


These are the two lazy bastards that just didn’t want to join the party…


Right now they are sitting in promixBX /EWC/garden lime/ FFOF/ chunky perilite and either blood meal or bone meal, I forget but it’s the one with the nitrogen.

Here they are under there floro home that I rigged up for the time being, I do plan to build a closet for mothers and a larger closet for flower so I figure this will do until all that building is done.


Other than the weird leaf formations, they are pretty healthy and vigorous even though there is no fan as of yet, which I do have just need to find a six-strip to plug everything into. may go hydro with this one though, nt sure as of yet. i ahve been reading alot about hydroton causing pH swings, so gotta do more research

as promised the updates are here, and this one is on time!! just to let you guys know this is a totally new variety (indica) for me, and from the looks of things, i am hoping this strain doesnt "get away from me" since i have been acclimatized to the slow moving sativas in my life:

well here are the new babes, but we wont know "what" they are until they show sex ofcourse. and for continuity sake, i will be keeping them in their proper order as to not confuse.. . .


so first up, "its" grown exponentialy since the last update, i would say atleast 3" - 3.5"in about a weeks time, but right now "its" 5.5":


next is the bushy one, also doing really well. a tad shorter than "its" sibling coming in at 5" "it" seems to be a contender so far:


now here we have what seems to be the black sheep of the trio. the main stem, although directly under the light, seems to be growing ackwardly and very "off" if you will, the lower leaves (teh round first true leaves, forgot the tech name) are yellowing some but that is due to me trying to take off its shell so it could get that light it needed, the rest of the leaf is green; nonetheless "its" coming in at 4.5" , and doing healthy


OBSERVATIONS: *first off, they stink to all hell, and i love it!!!havent yet pulled back their cover and not been hit in the face with a nice stinky/pungent odor, very nice indeed *there are no signs of any defficiencies so far, no browning of leaf tips, spottong or anythign of the like so far. as i noramlly do with all my projects, i do peek in from time to time, and i did notice some slight drooping, but reinspection some time later saw them perked right up, dont know if thats a precursor for the future or not so i'll have to watch for what happens *all in all they seem to be doing pretty well.

OK ALL, AS PROMISED. . . UPDATES!!!

they are doing ok to say the least, healthy, no spots/ burned tips/damaged leaves/ sign of deficiency. . none of that, so i am pretty amazed an awaiting the onslaught of problems, but who knows, maybe the ganja gods will keep watch over them for me. i have noticed some strange growth gong on, so i will leave these findings to your opinions. OH! yeah and they are in reused soil!! so lets get started with the fam portrait. . .


ok first up is the stretchy one. now id you ask me, i think this one is a male, dont really know why i get that feeling i just do. it is growing almost like the males of my SSH grow. only time will tell


here is the one i am most watchful/prideful of!! nice short bushy leaves and looks clsoely to what i have seen on here of NYCD plants in their beginning stages. tight internodal spacing and the side sprouts are really making themselves known!


now this is my "strange friend". the plant decided to seemingly began to "scrog itself"! one side branch started growing all crazy and then , its on its own , off to the side like" here i am. there was an old movie cant remember the name(remember that movie with rosie grier -old football player- and he played a guy that had a mans head attached to his neck , in order to keep the man alive until they transfered his head to another body? the man with two heads i think it was called? it is a truly old movie, i saw it when i was young, and my jaw was on the floor the entire time) but this plant reminds me of that movie.lol


these were taken right after i finished watering. they have grown about 2 or so inches in the weeks time. and doing well. i transfered them into 1gl grow bags once i thought they had taken all the space in the 1gl pots they were in.
water feeding with molasses and its also pH'ed (there is enough lime in there so that there wont be any problems , but i still want to play it safe)

i think i am gonna give this diary a break until i can take some clones and see whats what as far as sex. will update in two weeks, so until then any advice is welcome!! see you next time

they are slow moving, and i am still working on a heat source for the NYCD, i guess i am gonna be a guru at growing through winter this time around eh? lol i think , what i will do is come here to post alternative stuff, until i flip 12/12. it gonna be a while though cause i wanna take at least two clones and then see whos who, and this cold root zone issue i am having is not helping matters along at all!

i wanna have things set up the way i wan to then: the closetmaide (the 4 footer) i am gonna turn into a double sided deal one for moms, other for clones/seedlings; then build my 5 x 3 x 7 closet for flower. ive got a lil money saved up and have a couple things going on around the house, but i should be able to pull it off. i can really take off once i get that refuse from the family room remod my wife and i did.

i know for sure that this thread is gonna be the home for that DIY closet, no doubt!!

hey stitch, did you get my Q's bruh? really want to hear what you gotta say, and way to take the torch on the sick plants man, they need gurus to be mods, not actual mods, especially for the grow aspect of things. they dont understand things are always in flux, and shit does not just"stay the same", we need that advice for when your " definitely out of the newb stage, but not quite master grower material" yet type advice, ya know?

lol, yup frankenblunt; been doing this for a LONG time now...... nope, I do not mind at all, I already had you on my BL anyways lol.

You growing them from seed? When you grow from seed you can get different phenos... some may be short bushy and some tall and lanky. But I would not be concerned about the 2 viable tops; just let them grow out. Some do just grow out nicely; my OB did that I just had to slightly help a bit by pulling the 2 tall ones out of the way. When they get like that depending on how much room you got you can train them and it makes it so much easier to train when they are like that.
The only problem I see with that plant.... it will end up getting heavy with buds lol.
You will end up having to defiantly support that plant since it branched out into 2 so quickly and left the main stalk so short..... the bigger you veg her out the more chance you have of those stalks breaking when you get into flowering.... normally they end up splitting a little farther down the road when the plant does it.. or....either when you top them.... or fim them.....but really you want them to be splitting like that.... that is why people top/FIM..... Pretty much your plant self fimmed and topped itself lol.

Hey np man, this thread was made loooongggg time ago. I just went on leave of absence for awhile and the thread got side tracked and pushed behind... but it stays up here now that I am back.
My other friends were helping it too answering questions.
Anyone can chime in on there opinions too; the more the better


here is a picture of one of my plants we topped and fimmed, later we pulled the biggest 2 branches.. which would be the 2 branches that split on your plant...... we tied them back just a little allowing more light in the middle so they could catch up.... and the end result was a nice even canopy of colas!

damned nice plant stitch , damned nice plant indeed !!! hopefully i will get to that point. i may want to SCoG one of them for clones, i want them to get a lot bigger so i can take cuts, and yadda, yadda, you know the rest. i gotta really see about building those extra closets though.

i wanna have one (5x4x7) for flowering with a 1000HPS, but spread out with 4x 250HPS bulbs, a (4x3x7) strictly for moms to hang out in with maybe a 600MH and the current closet (4x2x6) im gonna keep clones and cuts in to get that turn key thing going!!!

with my next home i think i will do the shed thing, but a nice big one, so i can have my own literal paradise/oasis!! lol and besides it would make the wife feel a whole lot better about the whole thing.

With that much light you can get some side lighting for your moms; side lighting really makes the plant get bushy with the lower branches stretching out for the light on the sides. You add that with bush master and you got one mofo bushy plant!

Your moms you could take hella cuttings if you do it that way.
So how many grows have you done? what is your fav strain?

so far i have "tried" to grow twice b4. the first time was a northern lights that i was commissioned by a friend to grow out. it was in the court yard of a manhattan building that had no real light, so needless to say it was my greatest fight. made true noob mistakes there from start to finish, heres a run down:
the first grow I/the:
1. plant broke in half on transport
2 didn't think to clone the broken branch, and if i remember correctly i could have gotten at least 12 good clones from it.
3. didn't think to maybe repot it since it was outside soil and i didn't know what soil type they had it in
4. the spider mite wars began, and i almost lost!!
5. got so pissed at the spidermites, thinking i got rid of them, i noticed that they still had some refuges on the drying buds, decided to spray the drying buds (neem or course)
6.got bud rot due to spraying, lost a third of what i grew.
7. read somewhere on a thread over at overgrow (god bless the dead, (((makes sign of the cross))) ) that i could dry them in the fridge, you know kinda like when veggies and fruits stay in there too long and they kinda dry out?
8. smoked about a half an oz. and got nothing, i mean nothing, literally, no high, nothing.
9. didn't give it back to the person that gave it to me, i gave it to the her cousin (very good friend of mine), who said he would give it to her as she was going to come over that day (a month after i gave it to him , i stopped by to say hello, and he tells me he made at least 700 off of what i gave him, so needless to say , none of it made it to the cousin, but he gave her some of the money and they bought better weed.
10. asked him how in the hell he made so much money off of it, after much talk of how the people that he sold it too loved it cause it was fresh, and how he smoked it, and found nothing wrong with it, ; it was only then that i realized the he had kept the entire 7 ounces in a jar (under his nice warm dark bed; hence he cured it, without even noticing it)

2nd grow was some bag seed of what seemed to be a sativa, they grew past the lights, and once again not knowing about fim'ing, toping or anything like that, i chucked them and i think the pistils were just starting to brown (now mind you, this was back in the day, b4 people started spreading the word about looking at the trichomes instead of the pistils)

after that, tried making different system (hydroponic) ended up trying to figure out what was the best hydroponic system i could use, then got hit with the DIY bug so the story goes:
1. stopped production on the airoponic system since the pump was too much $ and too loud.
2. could have cornered the market on foggers but didn't believe in it enough (c'mon it was a humidifier for gods sake, you use it for colds and shit!)
3. designed a smaller version 2gl bucket version of a hellacious grow i saw where someone had , 45 x 5gl buckets, with sprayers all filled with hydroton, on a table. once i got to the store and realized what hydroton was, i had no car to cart that crap back to the house with so that was a no go.
4. and my DWC project. . . lets just say. . . oh about roughly 30+ gallons of water ended up downstairs and the floorboards,joists, sheetrock, insulation and rug were taxed. and i built a 4x5x7 hydrohut type set up (1" pvc and black 3ml plastic) in my 9x10x8 room. oh yeah i know your eyebrows are raised so needless to say that i was on a mission in them days.

but i will tell you what, i have been a student of cannabis for the past 6 years,and have never stopped lovin the sacred herb, there are certain first time experiences i have had that the damned govt't couldn't force me to forget!!!lol

yessir thats my geneology report so far, i can say i am in a better state of zen now and my grows are going just fine, my awareness/knowledge has increased and i will have my own cannabis if it kills me!!!!!!! besides the contacts that i have made along the way are phenomenal to say the least. all i can say is jah blesses for sure!!

honestly my favorite strain is mango. just cant stop thinking about it, those rock hard nugs, that sweet mango flavor/aroma reminds me of my Caribbean home and family. yeah it reminds me of "home the gathering place"

adn smokes nice in anything, bong , blunt, bubbler, paper, "knockup" (you know those pipes you have to make on the fly cause your not home and you really want to hear that bubbling sound? lol) man anything!!

i love they way these NYCD are coming along despite the cold temps. i have my flowering cab covered as far as warmth, but i started to worry somewhat about these but do i really need to? . .

i figured i would utilize my 2 x 70HPS to tighten up that nodal spacing. had to rewire this bthrm fixture i had laying around for the longest. i never wired anything so fast in all my life!! lol

and its kinda cool because the balllasts are in there , so i figuerd it would keep them warm, just have the fan blowing over everything


i am really loving those broad indca leaves!! reminds me of all those HIGTIMES CANNABIS CUP artists drawings i am so used to seeing. i thnk after teh holidays i am going to get busy with the closet redux i am planning.

yessir, yes i did, andme pappy wasnt none too happy either, but wehn he is ready to repair, i will be there. mani wish it woudl have went down the steps!! anything would have been better than the damned wooden floor!! lol, adni cant honestly wait until i get started with my DWC either bruh, i was having those bouts agian of what i should do, and funnything, i went over to my pops place and saw teh aeroponic system in the storage room, ready to go. .. . .AAAhhhhhhh i am going through that indicisive phase agian of what system i wanna use!!!! lol

these plants are doing awesome, and i cant be mad at em'!! except for the long lenky bastard im watching really closely, i think i am gonna have to FIM his ass just to keep it level with the others and i figure it wil give me two tops anyway, jsut means more clones as far as i care.. .

dont worry the yellowing is from the HPS bulbs, they are doing quite well

this one you gotta roll kinda quick as they tend to dry out quite quickly, but once you keep it moist/ sealed properly(save the other half) its like smoking it for the first time, so they are worth it, leafed technique ofcourse BTW, when i t comes to bluts, for me, i gotta use a fiber filter and not the euro style folter, these things have been given me a headache lately, but then again it could be this brownish , old ass weed im tokin too. . .
