Nirvana PPP (Purple?.?.)

I purchased a pack of PPP from Nirvana seeds, and grew out this plant below. I'd have to say she is one of the prettiest girls I had in the closet yet, and seems to be producing nice long full buds.

What's getting me is the purple coloring. Is there a purple PPP pheno? Or is it possible my seeds got mixed by accident with NPP (New Purple Power) which is another purple Nirvana strain. Don't get me wrong from someone who has never smoked or pocessed purple buds, it's nice to having something new in the closet. It looks like hit has some incredible bag appeal that's for sure :yummy:

I'd just like your thoughts on the plant. Is purple PPP common? I'm growing in a climate controlled place, so no drastic changes in temps, and the feeding routine is as I've alwasy used.

This is how I found her at week 6 LOL.. She swelled up quite a bit in the last week, and tipped over under the weight of the buds :woohoo:

. I staked her back up, gave her one more heavy feeding, and began the flush :yummy:

These buds have been tipped. Basically at three weeks I snipped off the tippy top of the bud. The buds are supposed to fill out more, and increse in weight.. So far the tech seems to be working with every strain I try it on. This plant I actually only tipped a few so I can get an idea how much of an increase it provides.

very nice grows, Mister Postman. Whats "the tech" your using? sounds interesting, wanna share?

I grew out some nirvana white widow & got a purple plant similar to yours, and like you was glad to have someting so exotic in the grow room.

it's not white widow, either: comes on stron, finishes like an
indica, real good smoke but different than the widow . . . the effects seem similar to nirvanas discription of their new purple power

yours could be the same

yeah, I see a few peeps flaming nirvana, but seriously they put out some good seed; I've never had any probs with germination, etc.

their early misty is bogus (nothing early or short & bushy about it) , but their white widow, ak, white rhino has all been exceptional

wow that's one pretty plant you got there Lucky. The bud structure is a little different then mine, and my leaves are not turning purple like yours as of yet anyway. I wonder though are we getting NPP or just a purple variety of we bought :chin:

It's always nice getting a surprise, but I wonder if it's going to smoke anything like PPP, or is it infact NPP LOL.. I like to know what I'm growing for smoking/breeding purposes.

The tech I'm using is similar to what fimming does to the plant in veg, only doing it to the buds themselves.. It ceases vertical growth, and focuses energy lower, filling out the buds. I'll share a few comparison shots.. If you see these shoots meet at a v so should be getting similar nutrients I'd think.. I tipped the one bud three months into flower, and the other I let grow natural. On this plant I tipped the second to largest, and the second to smallest buds. I wanted to see if they ended up yeilding better

As for the person who asked what nutes I use.. I use Pure blend pro Grow/bloom, Liquid Karma, Sensizym, cal-mag plus when needed. Sweet and Overdrive mid-late flower.

For the most part I've been pleased with the nirvana strains.. i grew their Northern lights, and it was some good smoke.. It actually was quite sativa, and flowered for 10 weeks, but as you can see in the picture of my original post it looks nice. I'm wondering what these purple plants are though.

9 out of 10 strains i've tried from Nirvana has at least one purp pheno...I wouldn't be too worried about a mixup. Got some purple in: WRhino, Papaya, Blueberry (normal of course), Ice, etc...

They look really great and like they were grown with skill. The topping thing sounds interesting....how much of the top do you top?

Ok good to know.. The only other strain I grew from Nirvana was the Northern Lights which has been a great strain to grow, although it was not the indica dom fast flowering strain I had thought. My fmale is sativa dom, and goes 10-11 weeks. The high though is superb.. I actually let it go a bit longer as I had wanted a bit more of the couch lock type high, and I got a nice mix of head/body..

As for the tipping technique I just take the top 1/4 off from the buds at about 3 weeks into flower when they started developing a bit.. You just want to go down deep enough to cut into the stem. Instead of getting the normal spear shaped buds on top, it develops like a crown of buds, and they seem to fill out quite a bit. I tried this with three strains so far PPP, ICE, NL, and by the 'looks' of it, it seems to work.. The PPP is the first plant I tipped some, and left some alone, so I'm going to be weighing the shoots at harvest time, and really seeing if it adds up to a greater yield for the ones that I tipped. I tipped by looks the second to largest, and second to smallest, out of the 8-10 main bud shoots that plant has. If they are the largest at harvest It'd be pretty telling, but right now 'By Looks' the tipped one is now the largest, and although the smaller one I tipped doesn't appear to be the second largest it has put on mass, and I'm sure has outgrew some.. We'll see for sure when I chop them down, and weigh them. I'm sure some buds on the plant naturally grow larger from their position on the plant, but I did this just to get an idea for myself really.

I grew Nirvana PPP outdoor this year and had 1 pheno that was very purple and finished about 2 1/2 weeks earlier than the rest of the PPP. Id say the purple yielded better but the smoke was better from the regular phenos. Great strain either way and I will def be growing again. Keep up the good work.

Excellent, let me know how it works for you. There arn't many things that guarantee an increase in bud weight, so if this method works with all strains it'd be awesome. It would be nice to start 2 similar clones, and tip one, and leave the other go, and getting a comparrison that way too.. To bad I'm short on space here or I'd be trying all sorts things LOL..

Good info to know. I hope mine does not lack in potency as your ppp did.. As far as I know this one is pretty consistent with the 7-8 week indoor flowering time of PPP.. I'm right at about week 7 now, and the flush has begun. I'd be pretty bummed if it lacked potency as it is such a friggin yielder, and looks so friggin yummy. At this point though I lost most of the cuttings I took of her anyway.. I have this clone I rooted, but if you look it was taken in flower, and seems to have no place to start growing.. What do you guys think?? Think if the roots are growing it will eventually grow a growth shoot? If you look it has no growth shoots, but calyx, and hairs LOL..

ive had some durban poison from nirvana that turned purple eh (crosses fingers) i hope mine turns purple..lol its only at 14 days or so its lookin pretty nice so far though gettin nice and crystally or is it all depending on the genes or the plant?

most of it depends on the genes, but good growing practices (nutes, light, air & yeah - no bugs) sure help

Killer buds Postman... "Tipping the top 1/4 in. of the bud", Sounds like you are deffinatly on to something. I'll try it now on some C99's. I had it happen to me also not on purpose... end result to me looked much increase in bud mass. sounds cool to me.
