Pleez help a brother out :(

Greetings fellow stoners :jump:

I desperately need some help. I am experiencing some major problems with my Easy Bud (female seeds), and I just can't seem to figure out what the cause is. They are around 1 month old, and those weird brown spots started to appear after about 2 weeks. I suspected lock-up, and when I PH-tested my tap water, it turned out to be as high as 8,5. (after 24 hours around 7) so I immediately thought : awesome, I have discovered the problem so I simply need to adjust the PH and they'll be just fine. So now PH has been stabile and optimal (at 6,5) for more than a week, but I dont see any significant change in their health & appearence.

One thing that has been puzzling me for weeks and weeks is that I have a couple of plants outside the closet, which are in the same soil as the sick ones and have been receiving the same water & treatment, but for some reason they are completely healthy! Their color is dark green, and they grow at a normal rate while the ones inside the closet (i.e. the ones in the pictures below) are light green, covered with brown and yellow spots and are growing EXTREMELY slowly.

I really need all the help I can get :frown:

I have fed them Canna Vega two times during their lifetime (extremely modest amounts!)
yeah I have tested the run off and it too is around 6,5 now. Unfortunately I didnt test it BEFORE I flushed them with adjusted tap water, so it is possible that the values were MUCH higher before the PH- adjustment.

The lights are at a very safe distance, between 60-70 centimeters. I am using a 400 HPS and the air circulation is optimal thanks to 2 strong fans

Hrm. Well I'd wait till Sprout, Verite, or Stitch reply seeing as how they seem to have an uncanny ability to solve these problems. However I doubt it's due to overfeeding, generally nute burn starts at the tips of the leaves and moves further in, here the brown spots start in the center of the leaves. I'd say that the PH was way to high for awhile and that might have caused nute lock out. I'd suggest feeding with plain water (check PH from here on out) for a couple days and then bump up the feeding. Your plants are exhibiting some heavy signs of nitrogen defiency.

One last question though, how often are you watering them?

Yeah thats what I thought, because my tap water was way off (8,5!) but I dont understand why the ones outside the closet are so healthy...I would really like to understand that weird connection.

I generally water them when the soil feels dry 5-10 centimeters down, which is around 2-3 times/week

Ok, hopefully those dudes/dudettes you mentioned will help me save my poor little ladies, and I appreciate your fast replies too! Mighty kind.
I thought I was all alone because of Overgrow being shut down and all, and then I found THIS place. :joint:

what is your growing medium? how about fertilizing a bit more? maybe they are hungry... peace.

I'm growing in...damn, Im not too familiar with english soil-related expressions but translated literally it means "plant soil" and contains some basic nutes and minerals, and I have also fed them Canna Vega 2 times and even thrown in small amounts of magnesium, so I dont know...they COULD be hungry for more, but I'm afraid of making things worse...I'm hoping for more replies to see what the majority thinks about this.

hehe, yeah...the thing that bothers me the most with my current problem is the fact that the plants outside the closets (where the light is not as strong) are completely uneffected by this PH fluctuation/deficiency/whatever it is
Ive been growing without enough knowledge of deficiencies and diseases for waaay too long, and know I am paying the price...big time

Any experts got a take on this?

The NPK levels of the nutes I've used twice are : 3 + 1 + 4

Paz is on the right track. From what little I can see of the medium it looks weird.

It looks like raw dirt with hydroton on the top. You should work for a mix with at least 30-40% perlite.

The soil was cheap and I dont have anything good to say about it, but I still dont understand why all the plants that were outside the closet (i.e. the plants that didnt get direct light) are completely healthy. I know the PH was fucked (8,5) and that the soil is useless, but the only thing that no one seems to be able to answer is why only the plants that are exposed to direct light are effected. Thats the only thing I dont understand, but I sure would like to

Looks like a Mag/Iron problem to me.
The ones under the light only do this?
That means the nute lock is causing the plant to burn inside out.
Bad nutrient uptake/lock will screw up their ability to transpire correctly.

Thanks a bunch dude, now this whole thing makes more sense. And thank you Verite for motivating my lazy ass to buy some perite next time.

I stabilized their PH almost a week ago, and even flushed with PH-adjusted water once, so from today on I'm adding nutes, and even small amounts of Magnesium sulfate/Epsom salt. They are definately not getting worse anymore, but they are recovering extremely slowly, so hopefully nutes will speed up the process a bit.

hey i'm no pro, not by any means, but if you're doing everything the same inside and out of the closet, maybe the temps are too high. in my very limited amount of "experience", i had the same prob about a year ago. what are your temps in there by the way?

noo-b doo-b, you are right, that is a possibility as well. also check the humidity levels.
same exact soil as plants not in the light? same strain?
