Any links or references? This is all I've seen.

The state has approved the products for people diagnosed with intractable epilepsy, a form of the disease where seizures cannot be treated with traditional drugs. The program was slated to be launched Jan. 10, but the first dispensary will not be licensed until June 2017. License applications will not be finalized and available to companies until this summer. After select dispensaries receive the licenses, it will allow them to sell low-THC cannabis products. Low-THC marijuana contains at least 10 percent cannabidiol, or CBD, but not more than 0.5 percent THC. These products, such as oils, are approved for individuals suffering from intractable epilepsy, which can cause seizures that are not treatable with traditional drugs. The patient can only be prescribed low-THC cannabis if two other drugs are found to be ineffective. - See more at: http://texasmarijuanapolicy.org/news/#sthash.3g9pVdzD.dpuf

According to snopes.com:

In January 2016, however, life began to overtake satire when Texas agreed to allow select dispensaries to sell low-level THC products to people suffering from intractable epilepsy, whose seizures are not controllable with traditional drugs. However, the new law probably won't be implemented until at least 2017.

just out of curiousity...would the use of the "low % THC" medical products mask the use of good weed ? or are they so low in THC that you would not fail a drug test? jus' wondering, you know...

Well Hell....If all they allow for sale from dispensaries is low level THC products , the cartels will NEVER go outta business from supporting all the upcoming "medheads" in Tejas....

No reason ta grow the shit when it`s available statewide for $ 2-600 per lb... lol....That`d be just about right for the State of Texas to sign a contract with the cartels to supply their dispensaries with ditchweed.....sheesh....aight...I get it....

It`s the low THC higher CBD strains they`re talking about I`m sure , but wtf does that haveta do with any kind of advancement for the community as a whole....just sayin....

Betcher ass there`s some sho nuff hoops ta jump thru with miles of red tape involved to get one of them med cards in Texas , compared to drive thru drugs with a $150 dollar scrip from the resident Dr in Cali ....just gotta be a legal resident and diagnosed with anxiety and BAM a card and a bud menu comes right to yas.....anyways....

I knew it was too good to be true cuz the south`s got waaaaaay too much invested in prisons with their day labor programs supplying surrounding municipalities with cheap labor contracts worth billions using primarily minimum security "drug conviction" victims and thriving I might add , but I digress.....and...

I`ve lived in the deep south close to Texas all my life and wouldn`t move for shit , but the day they let me grow giant pumpkins in my front yard/cowpasture like Medville`s able to do won/t come in my lifetime most assuredly.....regardless...

Good luck Texas....You`ll need it....

Peace....DHF.....:ying:....

Republicans are all about personal freedom & states rights until you mention medical/recreational pot, then it's "oh no! we can't let you do that! it is against FEDERAL law...."

Low THC medical ??? I guess Texas is just as screwed up as most southern states when comes to cannabis laws. I hear they give life sentences down there for over a 100 plants, or on a second cultivation conviction no matter how small your garden is. I'll keep my ass here in christmas tree country, where peeps no longer sweat the small gardens.

Not conservative, nor compassionate, but they do live up to the history they enjoy rewriting.

It's too bad, libertarianism is a wonderful idea, live and let live. Conveniently hijacked by evangelicals who practice live as we do or your wrong. Yaya trump! We're all screwed. Enough political rants, the poor OP thought for an hour that he could live in legalization and his joy was dashed. My condolences

What actually happened in TX is, as tjo stated, they are going to allow 3 stores to open that sell only CBD/hemp, then bankrupt the business because they allow nobody to qualify for said treatment.

BUT, a recreational law did make it through committee the other day as well, to be introduced to the legislature, where they expect it to die instantaneously.

However, what was most interesting to me is the siting of Christian values for the reason behind the rec law. Which, as dumb as most evangelical Texans are, they'll fall for it even though they have been against it their whole life!

I grew up in south Louisiana, where the laws are very similar to Texas. According to state law, if you have over 10,000 plants you are subject to the death penalty. In 2016, yes. The Federal gov't won't let that happen, obviously, but that's how backwards they are.
Having lived there over 20 years, I would bet a year's salary that not Louisiana nor any of its adjacent states will truly legalize recreational marijuana until it is imposed on them by the federal government. In other words, kicking and screaming.
