Finally bought a grow tent

Ordered from Amazon - Aviditi-PTU-67, 4' x 2' x 5'. Metal frame. Pretty decent reviews & VERY inexpensive.

I have a 400w hps in a 6" cooltube, been slowly acquiring equipment over past couple years.

Planning a 4 plant grow, dwc in 4 rubbermaid tubs. I have some autos & some Female Seeds Lemon Kush - might run 3 autos & 1 kush on a 20/4 cycle, heavy training on the kush until the autos are done, then 12/12 flip for it to finish.

Anyone else have this tent & have some thoughts on it?

It's en route.

Looks good man, and grats on the buy. I have not heard of the brand, but that means nothing. Metal corners are nice. If you have any pin holes you can just get some black fabric tape, and cover them from the outside. It is a chap fix that won't stick out like an eye sore, or effect the reflectiveness. Enjoy bud.

Thanks folks - really appreciate the replies. Pretty big step for me, the last gov't we had was not especially MJ friendly & my Mrs. was 100% against a grow due to that whole spending years in prison thing.

Now that we have impending decrim/legal herb on the horizon, I want to be prepped and ready to have my own, private "garden of eden".

Hey OT.
I run 3-4 girls in coco with a 400w light in a 6' x 4 1/2' x 4 1/2' tent & get excellent results.

At 5' tall your tent might be a little cramped for height, but none-the-less, it will serve you well.

My tent has plastic fittings for the poles & it was a bit of a struggle to attach the last ones when erecting. I'd be interested in knowing if you have any problem attaching those metal fittings.

"Now that we have impending decrim/legal herb on the horizon....." Where do you live if you don't mind me asking? Here in Aus we've finally had some good news on that front.

Although I love showing & sharing my medicine, I've learnt that sadly, it's wise to keep your business to yourself. Some people just can't keep a secret. I've seen friends ripped-off & reported to authorities because of jealousy & greed. The less people who know the better.

Growing your own is very satisfying. Good luck.

Hi & thanks - Canada.

The metal corners are part of the pole - just saw this last night. They seem very solid.

I hear you about the "silence" - nobody I personally know will know, and nobody here knows me in real life.

I use that same tent for clones. I've had mine for 3 years, and zippers are in great shape. Those wire shelves that you stack, fit perfectly in there.

Sweet man.

I don't have that tent I have a mommoth but they are pretty simple most are decent I hear. If I was buying another tent again it would be a gorilla.

Sounds like you are ready to fly man

Thanks for letting me know - the reviews looked pretty solid & the price was stupidly low for having free shipping. The poles look REALLY strong & setup looks like 10 minutes or so.

I still haven't done a dry run setup - waiting till I get some quality "alone time".

I'll post pics when I get 'er done. :tiphat:

OK - so did a dry run assembling tent. It took 10 minutes, tops, and I did it by myself.

Here's some pics from my "New tent" album;

So, couple points about the assembly process.

1 - Once I'd put frame together, I found easiest way to get tent onto frame was to completely open all the zippers/flaps, drape the inside/top over frame & then I laid the whole assembly on it's back to pull and secure the bottom of tent. The bottom zippers/flaps open right around the sides, so the bottom of tent extended just like a lower lip & easily worked itself over the bottom frame. Then I stood whole thing up again.

2 - The material is quite thick/stiff, so careful inching and small pulls/tugs alternating on each side made the process very smooth. The fit is slightly less than snug, so there is a little play as you work the corners in & align everything.

3 - I've seen reviews saying zippers were awkward, but I found them heavy duty & quite easy to open/close. There is small interior flap along most zipper parts that effectively double block any lights. Exterior flap on top & middle to "hide" zippers.

4 - The drip liner is a bitch to centre properly - there are velcro straps at each corner to secure around side poles, but cinching 1 up too snugly makes the rest NOT fit. This took the most time of any of the steps (for me). Even after getting it, I could still have spent another 10 minutes just straightening this part.

All in all, a great/cheap tent - free shipping from Amazon was bonus. It's sturdy, easy to assemble & pretty innocuous looking if put on a back wall somewhere. Can't wait for the green light (lol) from new gov't to become NOT a criminal.

Looks good.
The drip tray thing is a nuisance more than anything. My larger tent has ties as well as velcro for a solid fit. The tent I'm now using doesn't. If it was a problem I'd fit some ties myself but can't be bothered (the weight of the pots stops it from moving)

Check the seams around the zippers & snip off any excess threads so they don't get caught & jam them up.

Doesn't Canada have a medical marijuana programme?

Thanks for the tips & Yes, there is med prog but I'm not really med patient, so that's out
