since we don't seem to have a lot of pics up of our plants i'm going to start this thread to show folks what they look like.

i'm going to show some of my old pics in random order and without explanation.

everything you see of mine was grown in a full recirculating system without chillers.

without ph adjusters.

without bloom boosters.

without any additives.

typical solution temperature of 78-84f.

jacks hydroponic special and calcinit only.

turface mvp calcined clay or napa 8822 diatomaceous earth, and sometimes a little coco.

if you are a ppk grower i would appreciate any pics that you are proud of and/or any comments you may have.

such as how long you have been using the ppk, years of experience growing cannabis, general impressions, etc.

i hope everyone enjoys the show!

d9

if you are not a ppk grower you may ask questions but please keep your pics out of here!

thanks, cyat! most of them were taken by mrs d9.

hey, red fang! it stands for "passive plant killer". it began as a passive experiment about 5 years ago and i thought that maybe plants wouldn't survive in it.

but now it's the "power plant kultivator", or my favorite, "the love machine".

Awesome there bud one last question as i am almost done my ppk build this might sound stupid idunno lol some things i am confused about , and the reason i am is between setting up under current and ppk
1== Does turface get completely flooded ??? then drained ???
or you just have it cracked open having a slow constant flow
i know i got to go back and start from beginning of your ppk thread but seeing you have 2 of them i need or could you pm me the sequence how it works sir thanks Doc

ppk irrigation consists of two methods. sub-irrigation via capillary action from the solution in each individual plant reservoir. this is accomplished by the wick/tailpiece.

and top irrigation via a pump that is operated intermittently. this intermittent application can be one of two forms.

a "wave" type application that basically delivers a "slug" of water in a very short period of time but does not fill the growing container. instead it travels through the already wet medium in wave form, displacing and replacing gases as it goes. also preventing salt accumulation and re-blending nutrients.

or a "saturation" or full flood pulse. this completely fills the upper plant container totally displacing all gases on the up stroke and then intakes 100% fresh gas on the down stroke. it also obviates salt build up.

pumps in either scenario typically operate less than 20 minutes per day.

as this is the pic thread lets take further discussion to the other thread.
