Old 70s seeds, Elephant, thai stick, P red

You can see the rough years and labels, all from the mid 70s.

Tieme is from thai stick, many batches of them actually, all from about '76-79,

Elephant is an Indica from the mid-seventies, good smoke, from when the collector of this seed believes the first indicas hit the stateside. Very few seeds of this type available to me...

but lotsa panama red from 1978. The other two sound great, but I'm not as sure on the p red...

I could throw down some and find out I guess.... what do u guys think i should pop /??

Someone else stored em, in a lockbox, unopened for the last several decades. Some in film canisters, other in different plastic containers like the one pictured, others just piled in the bottom like the p red were.

Maybe I will try the p red first since there are so many...

anyone ever sampled it?

I wish I knew an old dude that was sitting on a stash of old seeds.

You should read up on germing old seeds before you start out, it might help improve your odds of success.

I want the thai stick. Use paper towels so you can see what is happening. 80 to 84 degrees F.

Awesome stuff, man! Agreed with HITH, definitely read up on germinating old seed, and then pull out all the stops. Get some great stuff going. Also, if your still taking votes on what first, mine would go for the Elephant. Only a few of those, so If germ is a bust, you could just move on quickly, plus to be quite honest, I've never heard of it before, and it really caught my interest. :)

Either way though.... subbed. Good luck on all! One other thing, a member here by the name of "jahgeeenlabel" I believe, has p. red from the '70s, and has a thread on it. So, you should also peruse that thread for some pointers, if, of course, you need it. ;)

Been looking for a real P Red from the mid to late 70's. Same time frame as yours. Totally enjoyed the smoke. One I haven't forgotten to this day. Hope you get some to germ.

Good Luck>> I wish I had saved some Columbian Gold back in the 70ties. I had hundreds. I just germed and I am growing some old Flow by DP that is like 10 years old. They were a pain to germ and get them to root in my aero hydro. Starting to look better now since I made some adjustments. I would ask here about the care needed to start these seeds. I would go with the PR first. So many good indicas around but not sativas like that.

That is some fine luck you got there. If you can get any to grow make some more seeds please and sell them on the bay.

Many here would love to get their hands on seeds you could make.

The panama is going to be very popular.

When you pre-soak those... add about 50ppm of nutes to the soak water. The stored food inside the shell is going to be degraded.

Look around, there are some threads on germing old seeds that have some pretty good info in them. :)

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

When I read your thread I thought of an article in SKUNK magazine of a strain called ELEPHANT EAR the article is on old school sativas. It is very well possible this is your strain? Heres the specs.

-ELEPHANT EAR-

Type: Sativa (hybrid)

Origin: Hawaii

Uniqueness: Wonderfull and rare flavor range that hits you fast and hard, like a locomotive in the forehead, you can forget your own name after a good bongload.

Elephant Ears effects are very visual and happy. The strain features a medium to high cieling. It hits smokers very fast and often with a big rush involving seeing stars and grabbing hold of something for support. This strain features wonderfull flavors, resembling a sharp, overripe mango or pineapple. Legs and munchies are both medium. She makes eating strange food combos a enjoyable experience but doesnt induce munchies as severely as many indicas and hybrids.

Elephant Ear is mostly sativa, although many claim it to be fully sativa. This is a monster, featuring fat wide leaves, and rampant growth.

............................Sounds like a baddass strain. Put me down for the Elephant

I vote for the thieme (or thai stick), but common sense would say: "try to germinate the ones you got most". Germinating old seeds are not a regular event, with that amount you should get nice male and female.
Make F2, is almost a duty. Good luck.
