hey guys. just thought i'd share a little Mosca's c99 bx1 run i got going. just flipped to flower yesterday. veg times are different for each bucket. just messing around with training and finding a good size to start flowering these genetics.
a little run down of this set-up for those who don't know me. its a classic bio-bucket set-up in a 4'x4' grow lab tent. i running Dyna nutes, bloom for veg and flower. i got a lumitek 1k dimable feeding a blockbuster 6" with a 6" in line exhausting the hood. theres also a 4" with a phresh filter pulling heat out from the top on 24/7. both ducts are venting outside. i running my chiller this run. the room is cooled by a thermostatically controlled window banger ac.
heres a pic from yesterday, first day of 12/12:

any and all questions and comments are welcome. and i will do my best to answer all of them. work is kind of busy lately, but i will keep up with this thread at least weekly. probably more than that.
anyhow, grab a seat, smoke em if you got em, and stick around for the show.

hey krypt buddy, glad you could make it. looking forward to your outdo' this year...

RM- of course you can tag along, any and all are welcome here. i have one request though, just, enjoy the ride.
as for the flex pvc, i think its great. it has been in my tent for awhile now. i'm thinking about a year. i have also used it in 2 other grow set-ups (not mine). so far i have had no off-gassing issues in my or any other set-ups. i was unsure about it when i bought it too. but so far, so good. in my tent, i could've used regular pvc just fine. but i wanted a little mobility. also, its not too flexable. it will bend somewhat. but don't expect to turn tight radius' with it. at least with 2", i have 3/4" thats a little more flexable. i got mine here:
http://www.aquaticeco.com/

so, as for my grow, lets call yesterday 3/23, the first day of flower. i'm a stoner and didn't set my timer correctly. noticed it yesterday. oops! the girls are looking great so far. Thanks Mosca for these well worked genetics. i'm doing a little experimenting with lst and pruning on this run. each plant will have a little different tying than the others.
i've never run c99 before, so i'm really looking forward to it. if anyone recognizes any phenos, let me know. i will be running one, smaller plant, un-tied. more natural, should be easier to recognize the phenotype. hers some pics from the other day:

tiny little cut from my bonsai mom

starting training

well thats all i got for now. i'll be back with more updated pics soon. thanks for checking it out, and hope you enjoy...

Thanks. i haven't followed a bio-bucket grow in quite some time, and I've always had a crush on Cindy. She's a hot little bitch. Looking forward to the show.

I'm probably gonna construct a couple bio bucket systems soon. Just gotta get thru a couple of dirt runs to get enviornment dialed on a pair of new flip rooms. May or may not use the flex pipe. Once my dirt runs are done, I hould have a better idea of how my current genetics behave. Then I will be able to plan the layout/plant numbers/veg area needed.

hey petemoss, good to see you back again. sorry about my last grow that i posted. i got injured pretty good and couldn't finish the posting. i'll do my very best to finish this one off.

RM, can't wait to see your Bio set-up. i am by no means an expert, but if i can assist you in any way, let me know. not sure how much of a show this will be, but i'm excited to run these. hope you guys enjoy the ride.
more pics coming soon.

thanks guys,

hey guys, i'm back with an update. took pics today, day 7 of flower. been running nothing but dyna bloom @ 500ppm/ 1.0 ec. i don't check ph much. haven't checked it at all this run so far. all i've done since the last pic update is top up nutes. did that twice. each time it had fallen to 350ppm so i bumped it back to 500. today i trimmed a bunch of suckers off and readjusted and added ties to keep the canopy somewhat even. so total time doing grow maintenance for 1 week was about 15 minutes. when you are busy, nothing beats a bio-bucket set-up. set it and forget it. i should mention since i switched to 12/12 and put the hps in, i slowly increased the wattage from 600w (mh) to 600w hps to 750w hps to now 1000w hps. the girls are looking good to me. got 2 of them tied down pretty good. heres some pics for ya, click to enlarge:

over all shot of the tent after trimming and tying.

freshly trimmed and tied

keeping this one down isn't exactly easy. shes a strong fast grower

heres a shot of her main stalk. nice and thick. notice the bennies growing on the lava rock behind the stalk.

and some root porn from her. nice and white and healthy. the main reason bio-buckets kick ass for me.

so there you go guys. i hope you like what you see. got questions, fire away. have a good Easter weekend my brothers.

talk to you guys soon,

cm

Looking good. Just loving the root porn.

So, what made ya want to go with bio-buckets? I know that I have my own reasons for prefering this system, just curious 'bout yours. I was out of the game for a couple years, and before everyone was running these, or some variation of RDWC. Seems now that most folks are running coco.

Rm- coco was ok for me, but not really what i wanted out of my systems. it was too much like running soil for me. hauling bags of coco, just like hauling bags of soil. with true hydro, all i need is a water supply line and i'm all set. as for why i like bio-buckets, it occured to me one day while i was dumping pool shock in my rez. i try so hard and spend money trying to kill off anything that may grow in the rez. while in my aquariums, i let the bennies take over and provide a safe enviornment. why can't i do it just like my fish tanks. then it all clicked, the nitrogen cycle, food web, aquariums, and aquaponics. i started trying to design a system on my own, then i found BigToke's write up here on ICMag. that was all i needed, i took the ball and ran. i didn't even think about how bio ended up freeing up so much time that was spent on rez maintenance. with a float valve, the rez takes care of itself. just need to top up nutes every couple days. and here we are today.
why do you prefer bio over other types of hydro systems?
as for the grow, everybody is looking happy and progressing along. just starting to see the flowers setting up. i will update with pics, most likely this weekend.
unregistered- glad to have you along, enjoy. feel free to ask questions or comment.

thanks,

cm

Well, like most folks, I started in dirt. But, like you mentioned, hauling it in and hauling it out really sucks. After a couple years of that, I found Overgrow. Oh my, what a joy that was.

Around here, should the worst come to pass, if dirt farming, leo will pull the plant out of the pot, give it a couple shakes, and drop it on the scale. Cultivation counts as possession, and I would rather not have to pay an extra cost due to the weight of a bunch of dirt.

That said, it's pretty easy to see that there is an advantage to a dwc type system, aside from faster growth rates. But, back then we didn't have access to a hydro store. And I was way to parinoid to have nutes shipped.

Then I found aquaponics on OG. Had never kept a fish tank before, but that didn't stop me, just one more thing to learn about, so I read 'till my eyes bled and then jumped into the deep end and built the system in my "old gallery".

I was in love. NIMBY was killing it back then running small bio tubs swc, while most other guys were fighting root rot in more conventional systems. Hell, NIMBY even had a thread "aquaponics without the fish" where he had a clone growing in one of his small tubs, fed with only fish food (flakes).

My old system was built and running exactly 3 months before I came accross BT's thread here. Same basic principals, but different path to get there.

I don't really like to do a bunch of experimenting and constantly rebuilding shit. Seems wastefull. Cry once, do it right the first time, and be done with it. Since about '01, I've only grown in dirt or my old aqua system.

Now that I've got a few new areas to play with, I believe that a "tweeked" bio-bucket system is just what the doctor ordered.

hey guys. just another little update. everything was pretty uneventful this week. topped nutes back up to 500ppm/1.0ec twice this week. moved some ties to keep the canopy somewhat even. yesterday i tied the untouched one down a little. more to just open her up to accept more light and air movement through her.
so any ideas as which pheno i may be dealing with? i know with all my tying and pruning it makes it a little more difficult to ID. just starting to smell when i open the tent. nothing to identifiable, just a nice cannabis scent, so far at least.
i'm thinking of hitting a couple branches with little pollen. i have a real nice narrow leafed MOD's Kali-Most male. its got great straight, thick branched structure and tons of male flowers. i also have a real fat leafed SOL's blue satellite 2.2 male with heavy indica structure and a ton of male flowers too. both boys just reek of fruity, skunky goodness might make for some interesting crosses for sure. we'll see.
enough talk, heres some pics:

first, an overall of the tent. keeping them nice and low this round.

heres my favorite girl, middle left. just starting to set up real bud structures.

close-up of the just forming buds

while tying, i got a little over aggresive and split this branch from the main stalk.. we'll keep an eye on this to show our newer growers to not panic. this will heal itself in no time.

and a little more bio root porn for you guys. gotta love the pearl white goodness bio-buckets bring to the table. at least i do.

thats about it for this update. i can't say enough about the goodness of bio-buckets, these genetics, and Dynagrow nutes. the girls and myself are real happy right now.
thanks for stopping by. any and all questions and comments are welcomed, fire away guys...

until next time,

hey guys. today is day 20 of flower. took some pics today. once again, just topped up nutes twice. keeping it at 1.0ec as best i can. one thing is for sure, bio-buckets really let me just concentrate my time on the girls, and not on the res. gotta love it. so far Dyna nutes are keeping the girls happy. if you haven't tried Dyna nutes, i suggest you do. one part, very concentrated, and clean. i'm starting to get some strong aromas when i open up the tent. can't quite ID the scent yet, but it is changing from standard cannabis scent, to something more fruity and delicious. i can't wait to see how they develop. once again, THANKS MOSCA!!
not much to talk about this week. thats good, i guess?

heres the pics from today, day 20 of 12/12:

overall shot of the tent.

buds are setting up nice and tight

trichs are coming in nicely

and a shot of my favorite girl

so, i guess thats it for this week. hope you guys are enjoying the ride...

give me some feedback guys!!,

Hey your root porn is that topshelf backroom shit :)... Great health all around!

How are you starting the "bio" aspect at setup? Handful of dirt? Shelf product?

Green vibes
