Found a safe place to set up a Tent...


Nevada Desert

This being my 2nd grow season ever. I feel truly lucky to be working with the set up ~ strains & space I have.

After a off season of reading thinking and planing.
The pieces are coming together and the fun begins.

The Set up...

SPACE--

8'x8'x8' Room with a 8'x4'x7' (flowering) tent crammed in.
A Veg closet and a DIY veg maybe seed tent.

Going Vertical for the 1st time with a 430w hps using half the
tent. Going 8 ladies Doughnut and hoping for 2 waves.

STRAINS-

Starting with 5 ladies
-unknown sex-
3 x B.A.T.F,
1x Hawaiian Punch,
1x Kong OG.

I have clones of each growing good so the ones that go male will be pulled and the male clones will be saved for a seed grow.

Within a week I will start placing other strains in the open spots.

Those being...

Alien OG-
(Tahoe OG X Alien Kush (Alien Tech Pheno Male)

Lambsbread-
(Jamaican Lambsbread) - A Sativa

Chem Dawg-
('91 Chemdawg(skunk va) X SFV OGK F4)

Woody OG Kush-
(Hindu Kush/O.G. Kush/Master Kush Hybrid) *turned yellow yet coming back*

Blue Hoggs-
(DJ short*Blueberry*+ Hogsbreath)

HEROJUANA OG-
(Outdoor Kentucky strain crossed with a California strain known as Petrolia Headstash)

All female and will be cloned before going in.

Then there's. . Unsexed
2 x 1980's Sativa
1 x Top Shelf Bagseed
1 x Border Haze. (My cross of SSH x Golden Mex Sativa - seed)
1st chance to see what BH looks like. I Hope its a female.

Really going to need 2 waves ta get them all through the VERT side.

Also setting up a SCROG on the other half of tent in 30 days. 1 wave... 300w LED + 150w hps over 2 screens.

shooting for...This she be a reality within 30 days.Power flower tent on one Area51 PPK...

Decided to add the other 2 totes (space for 4 more ladies)

which will be empty till the clones VEG up. (7-30 days)

Using garden trellis from 99 cent store as a screen. (1 per pot)

I have a false wall - I will use till more ladies are ready.

Feeding--
Jacks Hydro 5-12-26
Jacks CA/N 15-5-0

Taking more jacks hydro than I thought.

Just ordered 25lbs of each. (Shipping almost doubled cost)

Jacks hydro-
Mixing (1.5 tsp) per 5gal = 450-460 PPM
1 tsp PH down = 5.6 PH

Jacks Calcinic-
(.75 tsp) per 5 gal bucket = 350-360 ppm



Using 5 gal bucket- In shower starting with just hot water I
add PH down and Jack's. Hot water till just under half full then just cold the rest.
I then let sit a day or more.

I do the same with calcinit.
I mix 2 to 1 in the volume control bucket.

MEDIUM--
Coco/perlite
Turface

SYSTEM--

It's a P.P.K. . I Call this one. "Area51 P.P.K"



OK here's the break down:

5 Gal blue control bucket

25 gal volume tank.

Large pulse feeding pump tank (35 gal red tote)

Using 6 car tire stems as ports.
Using 4 with another 2 ready if*I ever expand.**

Original 3 gallon Smart Pots with handles

using coco filled- 1 1/2" sink pipe as a wick.

2.5 inch air gap between the bottom and water line.*
Small drain holes between pots sitting on 10 gallon tots.*

2 plants per tote.

Also 5 liter Air pots with pop top containers as wicks sitting
On a 6 pot tote in the Veg closet controled by this ppk.


So that took a minute ta do. Getting late so...

Been keeping em short.Lots of training, bending and cutting down.
1st round of defoliating was done 2 days ago.
Another after stretch is done.

Starting with 3 different BATF one of which grow twice as fast as the others.

1 Hawaiian punch and 1 kong neither of which have liked the cold. Slow growth.

Using a humidity fan under the light...

Border Haze from seed day 37 Veg- into flowering day 1.

Doubled in size over the last 3 day.
Really thick and strong stems. Health fat leaves and just screams -ready for the show.

If not for a couple people chiming in last year I would still be "without focus" and doing things the hard way. So I appreciate you taking the time.

Umm not sure what the "grey night visitors" would be. Lol (mites?) But if they be in my tent.. I ask question after a beat down...

Interested to know your temps l around the plants ..i see you got a cooltube ... something that would benefit a small area like mine..is it worth havin?...

Thanks for stopping by bro,really enjoyed ya thread.

Wish I had a bare bulb set up ta compare with.

Im way happy with this cooltube for sure.

I use a thermometer with a outdoor probe on a long leash which I put above the light off ta the side and the base at mid canopy level. 2 readings at a time.

Mid/top temps

1st time up with no fan under- 85/90 temps.

Light with honeywell type fan under- 70/85 temps

Light with a water humidity fan-
No water-70/75 temps
With water 68-74/70-78 temps.

Done over a 5 day period as I set thing up.
House temps were about the same.
60-70 temps here.


Humidity fan wins hands down as I could add Ice ta cool even more and it just looks like it came with the cooltube... (Needs ta find more if these) lol

Didn't see this coming. . Looked in room when lights on and im like.. WTF.. 3 totes so close ta over flowing. .. ok ok no biggie. Clean up the figure it out. Draining water I look up and... fk me... mold on my smart pots. .. PPK totes are now 1/3 full. Fans off and im taking a minute to read what ta do.*1st thing comes ta mind id is put into the bath. Hit with a little ammonia water wipe off and pat dry... Then clean up tent and hope for the best...*Moving plants now then taking a few minutes to read and then taking some kind of action. .. Hoping I got good timing with a bad situation. .. what would u do?

Ok... why is ya never read about things like "salt build up on smart pots being somethin that is known ta happen...
Mini freak out is fading after a few quick reads (should have googled 1st) lol. I found a little grey mold on a clone a few days ago. Fixed air flow and took 2 leafs. No more seen.
So I see this and ..... lol. Burn everything..joke...

Now.. why the overflow... hummm ...

Was wondering how the ladies could drink so much...

Float value looks good. No drip past set level..
Humm.. Have ta think on it...

Quick clean and back they go...

Any thoughts on whats causing the overflow of ppk totes ?

All of your ppks or just a select few?
Over flowing from the bottom or top?
If its the top then your coco isn't draining fast enough.
If its the bottom make sure water is going throught the tire valve. I have had mine clogg a couple times.
What level is your control bucket at? wasn't your pump bucket elevated? Did you correct that yet?
Is your float valve at the correct level?

Just 3 of them . Two in the tent & the big one in the veg closet.

Over flowing from the bottom or top?
Bottom.

No blockage. Though I did find lots of coco in totes (wicks need netting)

Yes- no longer.. Now sits under the volume tank.

1st thing I looked at. Set and not leaking. Same hight since day one.

I pulse the totes in tent from the pulse bucket.
I then use one of the empty totes in the tent(which I'd connected to the control bucket) ta pulse the 6 lady tote in the veg closet.

-thinking this big tote might have somethin ta do with the overflow.

All pots not sitting in a half inch of water looked

Totes that didn't overflow have no sign of water where the pots sit.

I drained one tote 90% and over nite all totes leveled out. So no clogs... hummmm...

Game plan...

1st. Set up 5 more totes- 2 pot totes (same as in tent)
2nd. Change out 6 pot tote ta 2 pot totes.
3rd. Fliter coco out of tote water.
4th. Add screen and repalce missing coco in wicks.
5th. Place both pulse pumps in the same pulse bucket.
6th read some more...

Monitor close and see whatz up...

It's always a adventure getting where ya didn't even know u were headed...

Showed up from a clone and now since weathers been cold and my environment as not been dialed
in. Im not to surprised.

Closed outside window.
Changing air flow and exhaust.
Raising temps and lowering RH.

Now-
Temp 55 L.Off / 65-75 L.ON
R.H. 65-85

Looking for. L.ON. 85 T / 40-50 RH

Thinking off spraying/drenching all ladies with a mix of

Fat free milk and water 10/90 ratio. A hour before lights on with fan on high.

Might run my ozone generator for a day or two inside the tent as well. 15min on/30 off window open and room door closed.

Already took around 10 leaves that had very small spots and turned ladies 180*...

RH still 60-68 grrr Temps 65-70s Lots of air exchange and will need a couple days ta see.




PPK cleaned and pulse set back up yet going ta wait a day to run 1min a hour 12 times a day. 300cc a pulse. Same as before overflow.

Ladies have a few unhappy looking leaves yet over all look good ta me...

Since I'm not seeing any male's in the flowering ladies. That mean's I only have 2x 80s Sativa and 1x Top shelf bag seed that could go male.
Which I wont use for seeds, cause who knows what they are...

The plan now is ...



Tonight Im going to toss the 3 unknown ladies in the tent around the 430. Adding 2 or 3- 65w (300) CFL's vert..lol

600 will show in a week.

Taking the clones I took from the ladies flowering now and will put them under the 600w Vert on the opposite side as the 430.

The 6 clones I bought are being trained around the rim of pots.
Will be ready in a week as well, so I
Will place these in the center of the tent under the 300w LED.

(Taking 2 clones of each 6 - Before flower) Will work with these 6 strains.

Side note- this Blue Hoggs is a crazy fast growing,strong looking lady.. (top middle of pic)

If none if the 3 go male.

This will make 20 ladies under 2 Vert and a LED in one tent.

Going to put this PPK ta a test.. I hope...
