New to the forum and vert growing

Hey all! First off, I gotta give a big shoutout to DHF, Bobble, and Farmhouse Cat for inspiring me to sell off my flat grow shit. I've been absolutely enthralled by this subforum, much to the annoyance of the wifey. I can't get outta this forum!

I am working on a design inspired by Farmhouse, 'cept it'll be round rather than square. I cut out a five foot diameter circle (think: giant onion ring) and duplicated it. Then, I quartered both of them and am in the process of building 4 racks on wheels. Hope you guys see where I'm going with this since I don't have pic access. Best way to describe it is that it's a circular version of Farmhouse Cat's uber-bitchin setup.

There was much talk of the inherent design flaws of square vs octagonal designs, and how the plants on the end (corners) were gettin the shit end of the stick. I figured, "fuck it! Let's try and duplicate the rings of Saturn".

In my stoned mind I am thinking that I will drop 4 pots (3 gallons each) per quarter ring, which gives me 16 pots per level, 32 pots in total. This will be an aero grow with the sprayers that Farmhouse uses. Can't think of what they're called. Been smokin too much of San Diego's finest Skywalker OG the past hour. I know it's not a TAG.

Planning two 1k bulbs for my first grow, but ideally I'd like to build two setups and go to 4 600's (two per).

My last grow was a flat Blue Dream ebb n flow. It was good smoke, but yields were average at best. I have some Afghani #1 seeds, but am considering some of Bogs gear. Anyone ever grow Sourboggle vert style? I also have some buddies with some great OG Kush and Sour D mothers.

Needless to say I have some great choices.

Great minds of this great forum, let us discuss growing in a perfect circle. And thank you all for making this the best fuckin weed site on teh interwebz! Oh, and please give thoughts on a good yielding heavy indica.

Oh, forgot one more thing, the growroom is 10x12x8. Should be more than enough room for two of these contraptions. Also have the requisite accessories such as a/c, dehuey, scrubber, etc...

Papagallo, welcome.

I personally do not grow in a circle, but I do see the disadvantages in corners with vert growing. Growing in a circle should be a breeze.

As far as strains go, I'm partial to diesels, and kushes. Mainly because they tend to veg quickly, stretch a good bit, and take trimming and pruning well. But thats just me.

Thanks for the input Marlo. I'm a fan of all legit children of the famed 91 chemdog. Trying to work my way into some choice cuts of Headband, too. Funny all this dank shit out on the market, but one of the stoniest shit I've ever smoked was a premo grown Skunk #1. Not popular or trendy anymore, but some of that old school weed is straight up fire. I shudder to think of the massive stony yields an Afghani x Skunk #1 would come out of these verts.

And I agree, I have one of the sickest stables as far as elite genetics are concerned, including chem91, and the rest of the chemdogs, OG's ect...

Id trade them all for my skunk1 pheno from sensi I used to run back in the day, a straight up strawberry pheno of some of the most skunkiest shit Ive ever grown... Miss that bitch...

I strongly advise you look into flip rooms like DHF advocates.. Also, defoliation is another method Im using to even further my yields, and so far, Im loving the results, but it requires more veg time... Not a luxury running clones or fliprooms..

Reading DHF's comments about removing all fan leafs with a stem after stretch is so hard to imagine doing, but I've seen the fruits of his teachings. Gotta take that leap of faith. Farmhouse Cat's green crack pics are the incentive I need. I've grown that stanky dank shit, and its not typically a good yielder at all. I know I forgot others as far as acknowledging goes, but thank God for all you mad scientists!

Just got off the phone with a buddy of mine with some Shark Shock beans (reworked Great White Shark by Mr. Nice). We grew his outdoors, and these beans grow some big donkey dicks loaded with trichs. This shit was retard strong (like Warren from Something About Mary). A nice WW x Skunk #1. Gonna take the plunge and see how she grows vert / Farmhouse Cat style. Anyone had any experience growing this indoors?

I learned about strippin leaves several yrs back from a self-proclaimed guru that fucked up my world when I listened to him........

I was told to take ALL fans @ day 21 and again @ day 45 across the board on ANY strain/variety/hybrid , and it caused my Chem D`s ta shut down completely.......

Took 12 weeks to obtain the swellage and yields I was used to getting in 10 , and I dawgcussed this guy on SEVERAL weedsites he was preachin that shit to , and he kinda sorta disappeared.......but.....

I`d seen his waaay increased plant numbers flat sog budsicles and I was impressed , or I wouldn`t have raped 8 flip rooms at 4 locations in the process.......so I said to myself.......Self........

How`s this dumbass killin it strippin leaves , and my shit shut down and needed a 2 week recovery period.......and it came to me.......

This guy was runnin an Indica dominant BOG strain that finished before 8 weeks , and since stretch is 40% of the flower cycle he was strippin em after HIS end of stretch , and then rapin the residuals @ day 45 a week before he chopped em.......so.......

I tried 1 room as an experiment and after 4 weeks I started takin everything with a stem gradually till they were all gone over a week period , and then right before Harvey everything that was left including 1-3 leafers juttin out the colas .........and Lemme tell yas.......

I was impressed..and that ain`t easy ta do with my old head ass.......so.....Did another room and same shit different room........impressive.......needless to say......

Once I had the key to the liquor cabinet , I raped my bitches as needed and never looked back.........anyways.......

Wow! This is gonna be cool! So many great ideas coming these days. Soon my system will be a thing of the past. I keep saying "i wish i could redesign mine" But im stuck with it for at least a while. (no complaints). But im diggin the circle with 4 quarter pipes idea!

You got me thinking now! If ya need any ideas or help just let me know. Theirs alot of small things that i learned after running that will make a word of difference.

I learned this the hard way too just in the exact opposite.. I was following the same stripping schedule on the SB that I had used on previous 8-9wkrs I had grown.. and noticed not as good effect, however no extended flower times

cant wait to see the setup papa.. I get the same feeling when someone switches to aero that we all get when someone switches to vert

Yeah, it's a shameless ripoff of your badass idea. Just figured all this talk about corners and their hindrance that I'd just eliminate the corners all together. Hence the birth of the stinky stanky super danky circle.

When strech is over you defoliate all the leaves or u begin at end of strech and you slowly remove them day by day?

DHF = above god and actually helped the mice to create planet earth...or was it the mice? Can't remember...Anyway. What i do remember is that you should first have everything dialed in before doing this. Right now i battle against nitrogen deficiency at around 4 weeks. Leaves are a sort of buffer to...pretty much everything. So basically if you've sailed it smoothly before - do it. Otherwise focus on getting it right and then...

I'm NOT saying that you have issues. I'm saying it to all those less skilled (like me).

I was wondering: BOG Sour Bubble, Sour Boggle, Lifesaver, Sour Lifesaver, Sour Strawberry Kush or Blue Moon Rocks? Can't find a source for the 1st one. Leaning Lifesaver as that seems to be a good yielder.

I preach no toppin/fim`n plants in a vertical setup ......why ?.....Plants grow differently with bare bulbs and get bushier sideways anyways , plus if they bush too far and get in another plants personal space , they gotta be hacked out and that causes recovery time if too much is cut back........that said P.......

It ain`t necessarily when the plants stop vertical growth cuz some Indica dominant strains stretch more sideways than up with bare bulbs , although it is about vertical growth on most hybrids.........and.....

Once the plants have completely stopped putting out roots and foliage and are in full swellage mode , the plants`ll start drinkin more and you`ll see resin forming on the sugar leaves closest to the colas from survival mode.......then.....

That`s when yas start takin the big fans first , and progress over a several day to a week period till everything with a stem is gone and all random residuals when/if they pop up till end of cycle .......and what does this do ?.....

It diverts vital plant energy away from keepin nuthin ass leaves alive that`ll yellow up , die and fall off anyways.......and.....the big fans are where excess nitrogen is stored in the plants , so.....

If you get rid of their ass it`s waaay easier for the plant to cannibalize itself in the last week or so before Harvey by dwindling ppm`s down to tapwater levels or below........

NEVER starve your plants of any nutrient P.......I ran 750 ppm`s/1.5 ec till the last week or so and then started toppin off with H20 and had excellent consistent results........aight.....
