HID question 5000K VS 6500K MH

In my very first grow i vegged forever using a mix of 5000k and 6500k cfls. That wasn't my intent to mix them it was just that 6500k were kinda of hard to come by plus I read everywhere that 6500k are better to veg with. This time around I'm vegging with 1000w MH lights. I was browsing in different places and I have yet to come across any MH light that come in the 6500k spectrum. Only 5000k, 5100, or 4200k spectrums. I figure i can settle for the 5100k. But what are the effects of using 5100k as oppose to 6500k. Would the plant grow slower? I'm striving for the healthiest plants possible this time around because my first time was inconsistent and a big flop.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

You see the chart......?..that line where you see 10000, 6000, 4000? That's the colour of the light on the K scale. So when you ask about the difference between 6500K and 5000K, the 5000k is a bit more to the red side of the scale although not that much. Look at a photosynthesis spectrum chart. See how the chlorophyll A and B converge and diverge on the scale? Toward the blue is a higher K number and toward the red is a lower K number. The debate still rages as to whether vegetating and flowering are better with an MH, HPS, a combination of both, or a mix of MH for veg and HPS for flower.

Will it make a difference.....eh......maybe. I think that the 1500K spectrum difference can be more than compensated for if you get the soil, nutrient and feeding/watering schedule right.

Just my 2 cents......

Good Luck
