150W CMH supersilent hidden Growbox

Hi everybody,
(please excuse my bad english - everything is ment nice and respectfull, even if it sounds rude, or weird sometimes - if something is not clear, feel free to ask) (also imagine some smilies in the post...couldn't make them because of picture restrictions...shoul've posted more...I'll post in every thread i like, that i like it in the next days hahaha...maybe even sth productive(?)....

I'd like to show you my new Growbox
It took me one week to build it. Before that, i needed to get all the parts, which took about three weeks.
I tried, not to spend to much money, but price wasnt the main criteria . In the end I spend way more, than i planned originaly (ca 700 €).
I had to ghostwrite a Bachelors-Thesis for that (1 Month - 5 hours a day - fuck that shit... but now its only few month, i#ll never have to buy shitty weed for bad prices again)

Last summer i stumbled into growing, because i planted a bagseed just for fun...I never thought of growing myself before (narrowminded me) I searched the Internet on how to take care of my plant and... lucky me... stumbeled into ICMAG (Plant became good - had to finish in my Wintergarden...there is a heater which i needed to run...cut on 2011-11-17 most trichomes cloudy - way to smelly for the neighbours hahaha... It was delicious and potent - sweet berry-lemony-likorice-wood...happy up high! I ll post a Picture of her in one of the next posts...Her daughters (the large one with the thin leaves in the Smartpot - she hermied a little in begin) are now in the box.

Before i saw the micro-section i thought you would need at least 600W and a big room to grow indoors, but...
Inspired by many of you (i spent many nights reading at IC ) THANK YOU GUYS! I decided to build a box to cover my own suply of quality weed and have fun growing it.
So here it is (Its 95cm high, 94cm wide and 65cm deep)...

This is the outside view (i attached 2 meter of mineralwool sounddamping 125mm tube on the flange at the top of the box later)...looks not so stealth huh...

better? I Put a Waredrobe over it an moved it in the corner. (I have very little space so i really needed the top of the wardrobe to hang my shirts and jackets to keep them crease-free)

This is the inside of the flowerroom (I had to put the 2 100mm intake tubes on the inside to put the box/wardrobe in the corner of my room - i taped a dustfilter for vacuumcleanermotors over the intake holes at the outside to keep dust out)
You can also see the cooltube with the Philips 150W CDM 930 Elite, where the cleaned air is blown through before its exhausted through 2 meter of Sonodec-Tube behind the wardrobe. On the left side is my min/max Hygro-/Thermometer...data seems good...

Here is the utilityroom...the stinky air enters through 6x 4cm pvc-pipe-elbows, gets cleaned by 300cubicmeters/h carbonfilter. The exhauster is a S&P TD-Silent 250 which runs on lower speed at the moment (160 cubicmeter/h). It cost me 170 € but I think its worth every cent...best decision...supersilent! It blows through mineralwool sounddamped tube and the Cooltube and then 2m of sounddamped tube again...the cab is so silent you can barely hear anything...if u try hard u hear something like a bathroomexhaust 2 rooms away...perfect! I like!

I constructed the box to grow (mostly) sativas from seed...as i am impatient sometimes (thought, ill would have time to build the box way earlier), i started a few bagseeds in february, which sprouted between 14th and 21th of feb...so they vegged for over 1 month (70W CMH - (Osram Powerball HCI 942)) the sativaish plant on the left in the back is in 1Gal Smartpot for about 2-3 weeks now, the others were in 1Liter Airpots and i repotted them today in 4.5L "Fastrooting-Pots" which technically work like Airpots...I fear the plants may outgrow my cab, as they are allready grown a bit. They'll start 12/12 tomorrow night, after ca 30h of darkness...I also got 3 sativa bagseeds sprouting, to test the 12/12-from-seed-thing...hope i can fit it all in the tiny cab....here it is working...

Im not familiar with any of the seeds your asking about.
I think if your going to grow a true sativa you will probably only be able to fit one plant and might want to flower from seed. Flowering for 12-18 weeks would easily fill your cab.

my female seeds ak's hermied. i hate to bash on female seeds but i hear they have some problems with them in their lines. S@nnies seeds are LEGIT. i have run his killing fields and they were amazing. im running herijuana right now but they are in veg so i cant say much about them yet except they are fast growers. i also have his jackberry kush cross freebie running right now. all look really nice so far. there are many great vendors on here. read through their sub forums and check out what real people have to say about their seeds.

the cab looks great by the way. CMH bulbs are great

I#ve been active on Grower.ch - a german speaking forum , because its kind of hard for me to write (enjoyable/entertaining) in english. Reading is not a problem, i understand 99%, even most jokes/puns.
But i like ICMAG because here are far more Experts from all over the world (btw: i wanna go organic vv).

Glad you like the box . Believe me, i like it to *g*...i'm quite proud on my first build...will like it even more in 2-3 month...

@ fukndenny: I got that wardrobe at IKEA (Germany)it is a real cheapo, the plain white version is about 100€, you can also get it in 236cm height, cheapest for 140€. I got mine for 7 years now - far before i thought of growing.

I#ve got to sleep soon (it's nearly 00:20 now), but i'll be back (with pics) in the next 1-3 days.
Made a few tweeks in the box, stirred a organic-mix (really need feedback on that one!!), got 4 Pures and 3 GFs planted (sprouted all 7 yesterday (after 4 days) in a 5h timeframe - yeah!) 12/12 from seed corkscrew LST (let's see, if it works *g*)...Bagseedplants struggled due to overwatering (oops) a week ago, but recovered quite good. I threw the bad ones out,...much, much more.
Now i'll light a joint (indica-streetweed) and search IC on how to post pics ... for attention and kind words

I did not make a filter myself - the Scrubber is a CarbonActive 300m³/h (wouldn't buy it again, quite expensive and i#ve read numeros posts, that the clothlayers with the carbon inlayed cant handle humidity well - bought it long ago with an other boxdesign in my mind, where the filter had to be light).
The air is pulled through the scrubber by the S&P silent vent, than 60cm 100mm Sonodec - Cooltube - 2m 125mm Sonodec.
The Intake is the two 100mm hoses inside the box. I ductaped a sheet of vacuumcleaner-motorfilter on the intakeholes on the outside of the box to keep shit out.
Hope any of this info helps - if not, just ask again.

Today is a picture update, to show you whats going on in my box. I'll be back tomorrow, trying to start a discussion about my soilmix/ferts (need advise!).

Hello NE1, how many plant you planning in your might fine box. I do 12/12 from seed,but with a 400w hps in one box and have cfl's in a smaller box. I am lucky enough to grow legal medical grow so no smell problems.lol I have 15 plant under my 400w hps and I have spaced out in age, so I have only 5 or 6 in heavy flower. I am thinking that 150w might only handled 2 heavy or late flowering plants, so to do more I would put more light, like some cfl's for side lighting. You want enough light or you will get less weight. Nice talking to you, I seen you on the 12/12 from seed thread. I putting some pics on there next...rw

Hi roofwayne, I'd love to see some pics, especially to see how you arrange different staged plants.

This is my first ever (indoor) grow, so i need to figure out a lot of things.
I'm really not sure how many plants to put in the box, cause i don't have any experience...maybe i'll have 2-3 in full flower at a time and some growing ones...lets see.

Also i can't guess how large plants are gonna become. I decided to try this NRC-pots (Non Root Circulating) which basically work like airpots. I got 2 liter and 3-4 Liter versions and will test both of them. Also got a bunch of 1l Airpots for the first few weeks and tiny germination-pots.

Not sure, if the lighting is sufficient, but i'm kind of confident. The 150W CMH (Philips CDM 930 elite) is more efficient than same wattage HPS (some say, its close to 250W HPS), although different spectrum (think its good for 12/12 from seed, cause it got ~ same red + more blue).
I think i'll see how this first try works out and then improve details, if needed.
For example i thought about adding PLL Lights in the corners that are not luminated that good (back left, front right).

What i'm thinking of to improve pretty soon, is the spreading/reflecting of the light. At the moment the highest 15-20cm of the box are not lighted that good. Maybe i should remove the reflector inside the cooltube and put a wider spreading one above the cooltube. Sideeffect could be that the tops of the plants (if they reach full box size) are lighted better then...What do you guys think?...good idea, or bad because more light will have to pass cooltubeglass twice?
Maybe i only cut 1-2cm of the sides of the reflector which is inside the CT

Not sure if i explained that good (english is my 3rd language)...maybe it's best, if i make a sketch of my ideas tomorrow, so everyone can see what i mean and tell me his/her thoughts about it.

Hello everybody,
as i mentioned before, i'm a bit insecure about my soilmix.
I read this thread https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=228020 to learn about soilmixes. Unfortunately some of the ingredients people use are not (that i know) avaiable in Germany.
So i made a mix myself (as good as i know). This is it:

6-7 (~ 2 gal) Liter BioBizz Light-Mix (different peats + a bit Perlite)
3-4 (1 gal)Liter Ugrow Coco (trichoderma infused Coco)
2-3 (3/4 gal) Liter EWC (earthwormcastings)
~1 (1/3 gal)Liter Perlite
3 spoonfull (~ 3-4 1/8 cups) Guanopowder Bloom (2-15-2)
3 spoonfull (~ 3-4 1/8 cups) Oscorna Animalin (Horn- and Bonemeal, shredded canola, grapepitmeal, feathermeal, Molasses -- 7-4-0.5)
4-5 spoonfull (~ 1/2 cup) powdered Limestone
2 spoonfull (~ 1/4 cup) Seaweed Powder (GK organics - 0.5-2-0)
2 spoonfull (~ 3/8 cups) Palm tree ashes (0-3-14)

(not sure about the meassures in cups...i'm kinda stuck in the metric system...don't wonder bout the "spoonfull", in Germany we don't meassure in cups but in spoons - 1 spoon is between 1/8 and 1/4 cup...its a normal (heaped) soup spoon)
EDIT: just found out, you meassure un tablespoons as well

I stirred all the listet stuff in a big flexible plastic-tub, stirred and sprayed it with water+ 2 ml Biobizz Alg.A.mic(algae/seaweed extracts) per liter every other day.

So what do you think?
Did i overdose sth.?
Does it lack sth.?
Which nutrients are sufficient in it, which will i need to add whith watering?
To much, or to less powdered limestone (palm tree ashes is alcalic to, tapwater is Ph 7,4)

Besides the stuff which also is in the soilmix, i also got this stuff:
BioBizz Grow (8-2-6)
BioBizz AlgAmic (0.1-0.1-0.1 - Ca=0.2 Mg=0.1)
ca 50ml Plagron Alga Bloom (6-12-10)

I also got organic root- and bloom-stimulator made by Unique pro (guess its a german brand) its said to be good. its kind of planthormones in form of algea/seaweed extracts. No nutrients in that stuff.

wooohaaw, long and complicated post...would be so happy, if some of you take time and review my soilmix / maybe post your opinion on how you would use all that stuff.(i bought a lot of stuff because (i'm a weed-shopaholic and) i guess it's usefull, but i am a beginner and don't exactly know how to use/combine all this (yet ))

BTW i just realized that 4-20 is kind of cannabis-day in USA, Canada and other countries...I should establish this in Germany, so we can celebrate on that day again (4-20 was Hitlers birthday)
....hahaha, just kiddin hate every kind of fascism, just like 99% of germans. In fact, most of my friends are immigrants (their parents immigrated).
...but celebrating 4-20 really is a nice idea, gotta go to Amsterdam next year (2-3 hours by car)...there should be some nice events
