Got my seeds in, 1800 Watts here we go!

Gidday everyone.

Well I used to be a soil grower, it never worked for me...EVER! I always had mites, or gnats, or deficiencies, or toxicity. Then I discovered...Hydroton!!! I had brilliant success! Things went magnificently! The plants yielded well, the buds were great, and it was an easy to run setup (I always used canna nutes).

So just recently I ordered some seeds. They made it through! I am very VERY stoked! I have never grown seeds in hydro, and I dont want to start now. So I thought about soil. Then I thought COCO!!! I mean hell why not? Its kinda hydro! And best of all I can use Canna nutes!!!

So I will be running Canna Coco Nutes in Canna Coco. My room setup is a 2X2 meter tent (I think thats 6.6X6.6 feet to our American friends). The tent has yielded beautiful results for me before. It runs a 250 mm centrifugal fan that divides into 2X150mm ducts. I use one as an exhaust and one to run two cooltubes that have a 600 and a 400 in them. This has worked well for me in the past, although I only yield approximately 21-24 Oz dry its always great quality and does me well! So this time I desperately want to hit the 2Lb mark so I've borrowed a couple of 400's from a mate, so we will be filling the whole tent, although the extra 800 watts wont be in cooltubes so we will have to see how we get on with heat. I run a 250X1280 mm carbon filter that's situated the other end of the house to the grow which helps keep everything nice and cool.

So thats the setup

2 Dina fem White widow Feminized
2 Dina fem power Kush Feminized

I have also ordered today

5 Greenhouse Seeds Chemdog Feminized

And I get free

1 Dinafem Seeds White Siberian Feminized

I aim to have 9 plants per light if I germ more females than this the free seeds will definitely be the first to go. Im ridiculously excited about all these strains. Ive never bothered importing seeds before as my last lot were seized, however this lot made it through so I got excited and ordered more! The second batch of seeds should arrive in the next 7-9 days.

I dont have any pics at the moment sorry, Im just soaking all the seeds in water for a couple of days then Ill be chucking them in seed raising mix until they reach sort of 3-4" tall then Ill transplant them into bags of coco.

Ok seeds have been sent now so cant be that far away.

I have been up to the house today and all the seeds had sunk to the bottom of the glasses, some of them had popped so I planted them all in seed raising mix. I didnt know if you could plant seeds straight in coco so I just went with Yates Black Magic.

Ive decided Im going to hold off planting the second load of seeds as I want to develop a perpetual system where eventually I want to pull a 400 light every 2-3 weeks (4 lights in the tent). So I figure with the seeds I've alread planted, plus a couple of seeds I planted a week ago that are coming along nicely, I should have enough plants to fill two light. But after that I want to introduce light 3 staggered a month after 1 and 2 and 4 a fortnight after that. Then I want to, as previously mentioned, ease into a fortnightly to three weekly harvest routine. I have a 250 HPS lying around so I will use this to veg the clones so when they go in they will be bushy and healthy. I want to, once all seeds are done and I've slected my mothers and am running clones, run 4 plants per light bring a grand total to 5 mothers (OG Kush#18, Chemdog, LSD, Lavender, and Black Domina) 4 rooting clones, 4 vegging clones, and 16 in budding at any one stage, bring my total to.....29 including rooting clones, probably more than I should have concidering I have a previous cultivation charge, but not enough to really worry about serious jail time.

With the seeds I will run them all in PB18 bags with hand watering, however pnce I have selected mothers and know my strains I will move back into my hydro setup and run drippers (run to waste). It will be a PITA having to run 4 seperate res's and possibly 4 seperate waste res's (so I can check run off PH etc) but I have heard that a dripper setup in a RTW hydro kit produces better than hand watering (?).

Anyway I will be back up there in the next few days, we're staying with family at the moment as my wife just had surgery and I cant look after the kids, run the house, and hold down a full time job aswell. The doctors say in 4 weeks time we will be all good to head home so thats when this show will get really interesting!

I'm going to let these girls go a few days in the seed raising mix, and on thursday once they're well and truly established I shall transplant them into coco and start them on 0.6 EC coco nutes. At the moment they're under a little twin 2 foot fluoro but on Thursday I'll move them under a 130 watt CFL.

First lot to go into flowering will be the Black Domina and the two Widows, I want to switch them on the 25th of February (should be big by then, and hopefully we'll know the boys from the girls!)

Will definitely take photo's on thursday, I would today but they're still tiny!

Well I beet customs AGAIN! My sdecond order of seeds arrived this arvo.

This will now be enough for me to carry on with.
I will select mothers and continue using them for clones after these seeds are all used up.
Really looking forward to these strains. I've never had proper strains befor. I mean I've had "strains" but in NZ you dont have a clue if they really are what they're being sold as, but thsi time I've got the real deal! Can't wait!!!!!

Will be up home tomorrow so I'll take photo's. Im going to bag up the seedling into PB3/4 and they're going under 2X130 watt CFL's. This is going to get interesting soon!

Alright Ive got Photos at long last.

Been home today and bagged all the little seedlings up. They were all stretching big time as I had them all under a twin 2 foot fluoro fixture. I've bagged them into straight coco in PB 3/4 bags.

I rinsed the coco thoroughly with fresh water and then found that run off EC of my nutes was lower than the nutes (no doubt because the medium was so full of fresh water). I was putting in 0.8 EC PH 6.0 nute water and the run off started at EC of 0.2. I flushed with nutes until I got it up to 0.8 again.

So as I pulled the seedling out of their seed raising mix most of the mix fell off. So Im hoping this hasn't upset the roots too much. I just knew if I left it too long they would all end up tangled and I'd be ripping roots seperating them.

lavender is one of the best weed I've smoked in A'dam.......I used to buy lavender during the week and amnesia haze for the week-end (from tweede kamer/dampk.) ....and at that time I didn't know who was the breeder of my two fav weed......

also black domina is an amazing strain to grow......I've grown SAD from sweet seed that basically is a Black Domnina s1....and aslo black jack.....

I'm gonna let them get a little bigger then I'll bag the first lot (Black Domina) into PB 28's (12 liter/3gallon) bags and put them under the 250 watt HPS two weeks. Then repeat this with the lavender once the BD's have gone out to the flowering tent. Then the OG next, followed by Chem Dog, and finally LSD.

Not surew what Im gonna do with all the free seeds/seedlings. I miught just throw them in in the side and see if I get something spectacular.

Ordered my Canna Coco and Rhizo today, so the plants can get better nutrients next week, just got them on cheapo nutrafield at the moment.

Hoping the Rhizo gets the roots really cranking on the BD cos I want to get them repotted soon, so they're big and chunky for the switch on the 25th.

Anyway small update, not much to show. Seedlings were stretching so I chucked another 130 watt Cfl over them and dropped the lights right down. They wouldnt fit together in one wardrobe so the plants are now stretched over two wardrobes.

Kia Ora everyone!

Well been to the house today.

We had some pretty gnarly stretching of the seedlings, even under the grunty CFL's so there was nothing else for it, had to put them under the 250 HPS.

So they've been under for 3 days now, and although the damage is done and they're stretchy as, atleast they're doing what needs to be done now.

Another BD germed so I now have 7. Pretty stoked that out of 20 seeds, 17 germed!

Now the tester seedling is starting to yellow from the bottom, so I upped the nutes all the girls were getting. They now get 2 mils per liter of Canna Coco A+B and 4 mils per liter of Canna Rhizo. EC=1.0 and PH=6.2

Im hoping this is acceptable for seedlings?
