NY Purple Haze

A couple peoples posts about different variations of purple haze led me to write this review:

I used to get some of the most amazing Purple Haze a couple years ago. The connect used to drive down to New York once every other week. However, Purple Haze is one of the most falsely represented strains around. I don't think there is a true "Purple Haze" seed stock that is grown consistently. There are many variations and attempts at creating a variation of a hazes's that are purple or in this case this gem of indica balanced haze pheno.

I always assumed that the really good purple hazes where a Purple Thai cross of some sort.
Any guesses to the exact genetics would be pure speculation but if I had to take a stab at it. I would say maybe a Purple Thai or Haze x Citral or Pre 98 Bubba? These are all far-off guesses, but they would be similar to what I would expect - considering the quality of the high.

Description:
I've smoked hundreds of dispensary strains and this Purple Haze I was getting consistently was one of the most amazing smokes I've ever encountered. A strong haze high with one of the deepest and most balanced indica backbones I've smoked. The buds were dark green, and it wreaked like ammonia pine tree forests. The smallest whiff would stick to your nostrils for 3-5 minutes, it was one of the most pungent balanced soaring hazes with an incredible indica body high. It was so sticky that even when cured I couldn't break it up with a grinder, I always had to resort to using scissors. Half a pinner between two seasoned high end smokers and we usually wouldn't want to finish it. Whole body buzzing, mind soaring a million miles a minute, mild closed eye visuals and deep thoughts that let you drift off into realm of introspection. Cuddled with one of the warmest indica backbones I've encountered. On a side note I had a oz of some other herb from a totally different connect that was absolutely incredible in the indica body buzz department. It brought warm waves of tingling bliss all around my body that was a perfect transition into sleep. I wish my friend got the name of the strain when picking it up - it was pure fire. Anyone else experience a strain like this, haze or not? But I digress.

What I would do for a cut of that "Purple Haze" strain. I have no clue what the flowering time on it was, for all I know it could have been 16 weeks. But with the strong indica balance hopefully that flowering time was reduced. For a while I was on a mission to find a seed or cut of this "purple haze". But soon discovered the misrepresentation of so many so called "purple haze's" in the breeding field. I completely hear where the others are coming from concerning the saturated presence of many so called "purple hazes" genetics that fall flat - or the amount of people calling any purple herb they get Purple Haze when they sell it.

If I ever ran across someone selling purple haze, I'm already thinking 95% chance they are full of it. I have seen so many things tried to be passed off as a "purple haze" that it's laughable.

Oh where is that NY cut, I fell in love with 5 years ago?

Im pretty sure it wouldnt be a Thai hybrid, why not just use a haze???

I know the herb of which you speak, came from the same crew that used to bring the uptown haze AKA Piff to our neck o tha woods.

I think alot of what I got as really good purple haze was actually a cut from Fla called the black or black haze. It has a purple tint and one of the most insanely potent stones Ive ever experienced.

best of luck finding her

so was this bud you are talking about purple at all?

Some of my favorite NYC hazes had the amonia pine dark buds and good amount of indica to it. been a few years since Ive seen it, but I liked it better than the more churchy smelling/band aid type of hazes.

Pretty sure its a NLxHaze, not positive or anything but its been around a good while, definitely pre-kush hype.

MadBuddhaAbuser,

Not really much purple coloring in them. They were dark green buds, with some colorful trichromes Orange and maybe some red. Must of been an incredible NL in the hybrid that was truely some of the best smoke I've ever had.

If your assumption is correct it was probably Uptown Haze x NL.

sounds like the stuff i was talking about. I used to get lots of diff hazes a few years on either side of 2000. based on some ideas and researches, the old sensi NL5xHaze was my best educated (and medicated) guess.
but who knows.

Ahh yes the infamous uptown. Whats around now aint the same as what was 10 or even 5 years ago. I think the ones cultivating it got busted or something down in florida. It's most likely related to the black haze as well but def not the same cut. Black haze takes a bit long to flower while the uptown was a straight commercial cash machine for the underground so it couldn't have taken that long or it would have been discarded. As far as I know there's only one person I've seen online with access to the original so shoot me a PM if ya like n I'll give you the name of the site. Don't wanna spam. I'd keep in mind tho that NY isn't anything like it is in Cali with the dispensaries/quasi legal culture of pot, n I'd say there's a good chance this guy is tied to a certain gang who brought this "haze" to washington heights in the first place, so with that said, good luck amigo. :tiphat:

Anyone else enjoy this majestic herb?

If I'm not mistaken, I've learned that LVPK is a Bubba Kush pheno (hybrid?) - so I don't think that was exactly it..

I am pretty sure lvpk is kyle kushman's purple kush which is northern lights X purple pakistani. maybe bubba Kush is similar. maybe it is pre 98 bubba kush X NL.

Someone we know here crossed it with neville's haze and I got a very hazey pheno that purps in late flower. That is a pretty good new purple haze. he called it asteroid. I call my haze leaning pheno Ziggy Star Dust.

I would really like to smoke some of those old pure strains from the 60's and 70's. haze, purple haze, panama red, Columbian gold, Maui Wowie......

Hey Stoney!

How you been? What's the genetic background of the Ziggy Star never really heard of it before, but it sounds irie.

I think down the road I'm going to have to hunt for a bomb uptown NL5/Haze or Mango Haze pheno..

Not many hazes have even come close to that Purple Haze piff.. =]

my ziggy can be picked anywhere from 8 to 10 weeks. I am still finding the sweet spot. it is looking about 9 weeks. I am still getting her dialed in but the original plant from seed did very well, the next round not so well, and the most current round is very nice. I am also thinking she does not like to be topped.

I also have a super indica leaning version i dubbed Lime Warp. It takes me back in time to making Lime aids at an ice cream shop i worked at as a teen. smells just like limes and sugar. It is so very very god for pain and anxiety relief.

ziggy star dust a clone only pheno of a cross of LVPK X Neville's haze. I am pretty sure I am the only person with it at the moment, unless my buddy grabbed a few cuts and passed them around and I just forgot. That would be real good actually. It will get spread around more soon enough though. The original cross is called asteroid and it was made by DominicanGreen who was kind enough to gift out beans. I sprouted 5 and 2 survived and turned out to be exceptional female pheno types.

not sure why you would refer to the Purple Haze with indica genes present.........it never had any..............and the PH showed purple coloration from very early in veg through flower..............and we were working a line that was 70+% this way from seed.......

lets not confuse hybrids with the straight line PH............sure you encountered some great gear and best in acquiring once again............

ganj on.......
